GM, Ford & Chrysler To Open Plants in Mexico; Circumcision May Become Illegal in San Francisco; Obama Expects Israel to Cave; Obama's 60 Days Are Up; University Graduates Sour on President - Only 27% Would Vote For Him

RedWhiteBlue news reports: US giant General Motors will invest $540 million to produce two low-emission motors in central Mexico, the company announced here Thursday, accompanied by President Felipe Calderon.
The latest project for GM in Mexico would create 500 direct and another 500 indirect jobs in its plant in Toluca, Calderon said.
GM has four plants in Mexico, and has invested some $5 billion here since 2006, Calderon said.  http://redwhitebluenews.com/?p=14524

Bloomberg reports: Mexico’s share of North American auto production may rise at a quicker pace as General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC seek out workers making less than 10 percent of what their U.S. counterparts earn.
The lower labor costs may help the U.S. companies build smaller cars profitably amid demand for fuel-efficient vehicles in the wake of last year’s recession. Mexico’s gains will come at the expense of workers in the U.S. and Canada, said Dennis DesRosiers, president of DesRosiers Automotive Consulting Inc. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-06-09/gm-ford-to-accelerate-growth-at-mexico-plants-where-workers-get-26-a-day.html

The Blaze reports: San Francisco voters in November will be asked to weigh in on what was until now a private family matter: male circumcision.
City elections officials confirmed Wednesday that an initiative that would ban the circumcision of males younger than 18 in San Francisco has received enough signatures to appear on the ballot. The practice would become a misdemeanor.
Supporters of the ban say male circumcision is a form of genital mutilation that should not be forced on a young child.
But opponents say such claims are alarmingly misleading, and call the proposal a clear violation of constitutionally protected religious freedoms. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/san-francisco-voters-will-now-determine-legality-of-circumcision/

The Jerusalem Post writes: A day before their scheduled meeting in Washington, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama staked out dramatically conflicting positions Thursday as to the path for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Netanyahu issued a quick, bitter response on Thursday night to Obama’s landmark Middle East speech, saying that the establishment of a Palestinian state could not come “at Israel’s expense.”  http://www.jpost.com/DiplomacyAndPolitics/Article.aspx?id=221397
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Washington Times reports: He [Obama] announced Thursday that a Palestinian state, soon to be decreed by the United Nations General Assembly, must be drawn to 1967 borders. This tells the Palestinians and their Arab allies and enablers that events do not have to have consequences.
We’re not supposed to remember that the Arab states attacked Israel in 1967 (and again in 1973), betting they could crush the Jews and take the looted land. Instead they were themselves squashed like bugs. Their airmen were shot out of the skies and their soldiers, routed, threw away their shoes in the desert and ran in panic looking for somewhere to hide, like Mr. Lincoln's army fleeing Manassas. The losers have been demanding a mulligan ever since, and now Barack Obama has offered them one.
Insult was added to injury when the president, in what the White House called “a major speech,” announced his betrayal of Israel on the eve of the arrival in Washington of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/may/20/pruden-obamas-great-gift-to-the-palestinians/

CNN reports: As the U.S. military campaign in Libya approaches the 60-day mark this Friday, six Republican senators wrote President Obama asking if he will comply with the War Powers Act, which says Congress must authorize action that lasts more than 60 days. "Friday is the final day of the statutory sixty-day period for you to terminate the use of the United States Armed Forces in Libya under the War Powers Resolution. Last week some in your Administration indicated use of the United States Armed Forces will continue indefinitely, while others said you would act in a manner consistent with the War Powers Resolution. Therefore, we are writing to ask whether you intend to comply with the requirements of the War Powers Resolution. We await your response," wrote the GOP senators Wednesday. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/05/18/republican-senators-press-president-on-war-powers-deadline/?iref=allsearch

Yahoo News reports: A very large proportion of recent university graduates have soured on President Barack Obama, and many will vote GOP or stay at home in the 2012 election, according to two new surveys of younger voters.
“These rock-solid Obama constituents are free-agents,” said Kellyanne
83 percent voted for Obama in 2008. But only 27 percent are committed to voting for Obama again, and 80 percent said they would consider voting for a Republican, said New York-based Maddalone.
That’s a drop of almost 60 points in support for Obama among this influential class of younger post-grad voters, who Maddalone recruited at conferences held at New York University and Thomson-Reuters’ New York headquarters. The bad news for Obama was underlined May 19 with a report by a job-firm Adecco that roughly 60 percent of recent college-grads have not been able to find a full-time job in their preferred area.  http://news.yahoo.com/s/dailycaller/20110520/pl_dailycaller/recentcollegegradssouronobamasurveyssay;_ylt=Ase0UH_am0IDPFioAHCKdJSyFz4D;_ylu=X3oDMTNtaDU5ajA0BGFzc2V0A2RhaWx5Y2FsbGVyLzIwMTEwNTIwL3JlY2VudGNvb

Of course, it's early yet in the electric vehicle industry. Hamas Cleric - The Jews Were Brought to Palestine for the 'Great Massacre'

Words of Hamas MP and Cleric Yunis Al-Astal, 5-11-2011:  "Jews were brought to Palestine so that the Palestinians and the Islamic nation behind them will have the honor of annihilating the evil of this gang.  Their arrival in Palestine was for the purpose of their great massacre.  The land of Palestine will become the capital of the Islamic Caliphate." [And yet it seems America doesn't stand behind Israel - watching while another Holocaust is being openly planned....]

Big Government writes: The University of Colorado Sea Level Research Group is coming to their rescue. The NASA-funded group claims glacial melt is removing weight that had been pressing down on land masses, which in turn is causing land mass to rise. This welcome news mitigates sea-level rise from melting glacial ice, meaning sea level will rise less than previously thought. However, it is very inconvenient for alarmist sea level predictions. Therefore, instead of reporting the amount by which sea level is rising in the real world, the Sea Level Research Group has begun adding 0.3 millimeters per year of fictitious sea level rise to “compensate” for rising land mass.
The extra 0.3 millimeters of fictitious sea level rise will add up to 1.2 inches over the course of the 21st century. While this is not monumental in and of itself, it will allow alarmists to paint a dramatically different picture of sea level rise than is occurring in the real world. For example, the current pace of 8 inches of sea level rise for the present century is essentially no different than the 7 inches of sea level rise that occurred last century. However, with an artificially enhanced 9.2 inches of sea level rise, alarmists can claim sea level is rising 31 percent faster than it did last century.

National Review writes: In USA Today, former DNC interim chair Donna Brazile claims that Republicans are trying to block voters from the polls and reduce the voting rights of  ”Democratic-leaning Americans.” She asserts that Republicans are passing state ballot integrity laws — such as voter photo-ID requirements – to limit the participation of minority voters, the young, and the poor (purported Obama voters) heading into the 2012 elections. Brazile asks, ”Do we really want to see Florida’s 2000 election controversy replayed?”
Expect to see lots more of this leading to the presidential election.  But the Justice Department found no credible evidence that Floridians were intentionally denied the right to vote.
Voter fraud isn’t the imaginary phenomenon some claim it to be. Brazile bemoans the the expense of voter ID requirements ($10 million over four years in Indiana, according to her). Given the closeness of so many recent elections that could’ve been decided by fraudulent ballots, is $10 million per state too much to spend on improving election integrity?  http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/267542/gop-plan-disfranchise-democratic-voters-2012-peter-kirsanow

Tom Cohen of CNN reports: In the wake of the Arab Spring protests across the Middle East and North Africa, President Barack Obama will pledge U.S. economic assistance to Egypt and Tunisia on Thursday in a speech highlighting his administration's revised policies toward the changing region.

Obama will announce several programs intended to increase U.S. and international investment, create jobs and spur economic growth in the two countries, the officials said. The goal is for Tunisia and Egypt to serve as models for a region undergoing change so that other countries have incentive to undertake similar reforms, according to the officials.Specific programs include relieving Egypt of up to $1 billion in debt over the next two to three years so the money can be invested by the Egyptian government in economic development plans, and providing $1 billion in loan guarantees to finance infrastructure development and job creation, the senior administration officials said. http://www.kfoxtv.com/politics/27946104/detail.html

American Thinker describes CFLs: [Here is pertinent information for those of you who are NOT hoarding incandescent light bulbs]: New evidence of CFLs causing fires -- even exploding -- as well as new environmental concerns have come to light since my article The CFL Fraud published.  Here are some of the additional fires:
"I had one of these CFL's in my garage socket, and it blew a component (not the glass corkscrew) and caught fire.  Fortunately, I was standing four feet away at the time.  I turned off the power and smothered the bulb with a towel." LINK
"I heard a sizzling sound like bacon, looked in the direction of the sound and watch the CFL burst into flame with flames licking up onto the ceiling of my house." LINK
"I've had two CFLs explode on me.  One in our bedroom overhead light.... I took a long time cleaning the bedspread and carpeting, because of fears of the mercury residue.  Had another one explode in the family room." LINK
How was that bedspread cleaned?  Was the person aware it must not be put in a washing machine, according to EPA, "because mercury may contaminate the machine and/or pollute sewage"?  Was that person aware EPA also says never to use a vacuum cleaner to clean up a broken CFL on a carpet?  Vacuuming will disperse mercury into the air and contaminate the vacuum cleaner, which for all practical purposes is impossible to decontaminate. LINK
Of course, as I pointed out previously, state and federal environmental laws have effectively eliminated the mail-back programs of CFL manufacturers.  Researchers found the only legally acceptable shipping container is "a double box with a zip closure foil-plastic laminate bag between the cardboard layers" if CFLs are to be shipped by U.S. Postal Service or common carrier.  To ignore this requirement would subject violators to the penalties of the law, which would surely exceed the value of a replacement bulb.  The cost of the acceptable container and the postage/shipping charge must also be paid by the consumer returning the product.  The result is that probably nobody is ever going to return a broken CFL to Armorlite.
"CFL bulbs contain many nasty toxic substances.  You likely know of the mercury they contain already, but they also have things like lead (stabilizer in the plastic ballast housings), arsenic in the electronic parts, phenol in circuit boards, cyanide to process metals for parts, toxic phosphors, and the list goes on and on!  They can't be tossed in the trash can, and have to be saved and recycled (expensive!) when they burn out.  Incandescents are not only easily recycled, but can be discarded in the trash -- the glass and metals used are inert."
"Do not use in luminaries controlled by a dimmer, electronic timers, 3-way socket or photocells, illuminated switches, totally enclosed luminaries, or where directly exposed to weather.  Do not use with emergency fixtures or emergency lights.  This CFL may interfere with other products like radios, cordless phones and others."

Union Members on All Unionized Company Boards?; Pelosi Constituents Get 20% of New Obamacare Waivers; Totalitarian America Under Obama; US Ship to be Named For CA Labor Leader Chavez; State of Nevada Gets Partial Obamacare Waiver; Another Radical School Agenda; GM Heartily Supports Making Movie About Chinese Communist Party;

The Washington Examiner reveals NLRB agenda: Why has private-sector unionization fallen from 35 percent of the work force during World War II to less than 7 percent today? The main reason is that unions raise a firm's labor costs, leaving fewer resources for things like job
creation, capital improvements, and research and development. Unions also make it much harder for owners
and executives to make practical business decisions.
Obama's NLRB doesn't give a hoot what the Supreme Court ruled. Not only is the NLRB standing firm in its
Boeing suit, but the leaked memo, which was obtained by the Heritage Foundation's Hans von Spakovsky
and James Sherk, also shows that the board seeks to elevate union officials to equal partners with executives in corporate boardrooms of all unionized firms. The memo instructs NLRB regional operatives to flag all cases
in which unionized firms made relocation decisions without submitting detailed economic justifications to their
unions.  The intended consequence is that all major business decisions will become subject to approval by
unions. Soviet Communist Party theoretician Leon Trotsky wrote this in 1931: "The workers need control not
for platonic purposes, but in order to exert practical influence upon the production and commercial operations
of the employers. ... In a developed form, workers' control thus implies a sort of economic dual power in the
factory." Were Trotsky still around, he would no doubt cheer Obama's NLRB.

Daily Caller reveals: Pelosi’s district secured almost 20 percent of the latest issuance of waivers nationwide, and the companies that won them didn’t have much in common with companies throughout the rest of the country that have received Obamacare waivers.
Other common waiver recipients were labor union chapters, large corporations, financial firms and local governments. But Pelosi’s district’s waivers are the first major examples of luxurious, gourmet restaurants and hotels getting a year-long pass from Obamacare.

The United States is rapidly becoming a totalitarian democracy.
As described by Israeli historian J. L. Talmon, totalitarian democracy is a political system in which lawfully elected representatives rule a nation state whose citizens, although granted the right to vote, have little or no participation in the decision-making process of government.
In a totalitarian democracy, the government is transformed from one based on traditional values and articles of faith into one in which social utility takes absolute precedence.
Obama is a disciple of Chicago-native, Saul Alinsky, a neo-Marxist and community organizer, who wrote: “Rules for Radicals”, a guide which provides Obama’s operational model.

Big Government reveals: There are many conservative teachers sounding the alarm about the hijacking of their profession and the
radicalization of school curriculums by left-wing union leaders.  Exhibit A: Chicago Teachers Union President
Karen Lewis saying they’re not teachers but “education workers.”
Dean Kalahar is a Sarasota, Florida high school economics teacher. On his blog, he says his guiding principles
include private property rights, free market entrepreneurial capitalism and the U.S. Constitution.
Kalahar recently brought attention to the new Florida high school senior exit exam, which he says will
“indoctrinate children into a progressive and revisionist model critical of America.”
Among the questions Kalahar exposes are:
  • Analyze the major factors that drove United States imperialism.
  • Examine the controversy surrounding the proliferation of nuclear technology in the United States.
  • Assess key figures and organizations in shaping the Black Power Movement.
  • Analyze significant Supreme Court decisions relating to reproductive rights.
  • Describe efforts by the United States and other world powers to avoid future wars.
  • Examine the failure of the United States to support the League of Nations.

Van Jones Indoctrinates NY Students; U of Missouri Class "Introduction of Labor Studies" Teaches Industrial Sabotage; Democrat Party Members Charged with Felonies; Neighborhood Stabilization Program Not Working; Random House Searches by Police Approved; Britain to Exit Afghanistan; TSA Scanners May be Unsafe; Majority Support Repeal of Obamacare

Big Government reports: Speak Truth to Power human rights curriculum launched in New York- [Or - Let's Indoctrinate Young Skulls Full of Mush to End Capitalism through Revolution - my words.]

A new human rights curriculum that was recently introduced to middle schools and high schools all across New York is a disservice to students because it wastes precious instruction time which would be more wisely spent on academic fundamentals.

Last Friday, December 10, over 1,000 New York students took part in the inaugural webcast of the “Speak Truth to Power” curriculum distributed by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice &; Human Rights and New York State United Teachers.
The web event originated from a classroom at Chestnut Ridge Middle School, a school with a student population that recently scored below-average on statewide tests, according to the New York Times.  It is extremely difficult to see how lessons focusing on corporate “greed,” landmine awareness, Chinese labor camps and abolishing the death penalty will do anything to raise student test scores in math, reading and science.
According to a NYSUT blog, the curriculum “introduces general human rights issues” and “urges students to become personally involved in the protection of human rights.”
New York parents and taxpayers ought to be very concerned that their public schools think this curriculum is an appropriate use of time.  Students may end up with an increased awareness of global problems, but if they don’t graduate with basic academic skills, what can they possibly do about such issues?
This is another case of public schools using class time to indoctrinate students with a radical, leftist political agenda. No curriculum that promotes the views of Van Jones should be allowed to pollute the minds of school kids.
New York schools need to focus on the rights of their students to an education that prepares them for life. Teaching social awareness to students who are lacking basic academic skills is a luxury that New York schools, families and taxpayers cannot afford.  http://biggovernment.com/kolson/2010/12/13/ny-schools-human-rights-curriculum-features-van-jones/#more-206369      and

From the of taking public school students to Cuba and the NEA’s reccommendation of Saul Alinsky to the most recent revelation of the University of Missouri’s “Introduction to Labor Studies” taught by two Marxists who, in addition to allegedly giving a Communist organizer two hours of class time to recruit, also shared the finer points of industrial sabotage and cat electrocutions.
Pecinovsky also described the dues requirements and initiation procedures of the Communist Party, and gave out his phone number several times, offering to stay as long as anyone wanted to talk to him about joining.
Prof. Ancel acknowledged that joining the Communist Party could cost students their future security clearances, make them less desirable to future employers, and potentially put them on federal watch lists. Still, she and Prof, Giljum invited this organization into class to recruit.
the Left becomes hysterical when individuals who donate their private money to universities and have the audacity to place some conditions on their donations.

Radio Host Mike Church reports: According to Newton County Sheriff, Don Hartman Sr., random house to house searches are now possible and could be helpful following the Barnes v. STATE of INDIANA Supreme Court ruling issued on May 12th, 2011. When asked three separate times due to the astounding callousness as it relates to trampling the inherent natural rights of Americans, he emphatically indicated that he would use random house to house checks, adding he felt people will welcome random searches if it means capturing a criminal. Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a local city Police Chief with 30 years experience in law enforcement directly contradicted the Newton County Sheriff’s blatant disregard for privacy & liberty, stating that as an American first, such an action is unconscionable and that his allegiance is to the Indiana and federal Constitutions respectively. Fox News reports: On Wednesday, Congress considered a bill to void that. The House debated H.R. 1231, a bill titled, "Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act," and it is expected to pass Thursday.
Here's what it would do [among other things]:
-- Require the administration to allow drilling in at least 50 percent of the Outer Continental Shelf areas known to contain the most oil and gas. Specifically, that means southern California, the Arctic, mid-Atlantic and Eastern Gulf of Mexico.
Require the federal government to establish production targets for oil and gas. Currently, that would mean 3 million barrels a day of oil, or roughly three times more than the U.S. currently produces from offshore sources.

The Wall St. Journal reveals: President Obama's plan to force federal contractors to disclose political contributions was dealt a surprise blow yesterday when Steny Hoyer, the second-ranking Democrat in the U.S. House, said that he opposed the idea.
"I am not in agreement with the administration on that issue," Mr. Hoyer told reporters. "It's not a requirement now. I don't think it ought to be a requirement."
The debate is over Mr. Obama's decision to draft an executive order that would require companies applying for federal contracts to disclose contributions to independent political groups, as well as the donations of their executives and subsidiaries to political parties and independent organizations. Congress considered such changes last year but failed to pass them. That prompted liberal groups to urge the White House to act unilaterally through an executive order that bypassed Congress. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703730804576317340747736176.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_MIDDLESecond

Business Insider writes: What is surprising is that the Wall St. Journal -- which you'd think might overlook that in Romney's case, given their general common ideologies -- would pulverize him on the subject [of RomneyCare].
That's exactly what they've done tonight, on the eve of his big healthcare speech, basically branding him has un-credible and self-serving.
They say RomneyCare has been a mess, but that really, up until recently he was bragging about its success. What's more, his new argument that it only failed because of poor execution reeks of passing the buck.

The Washington Times writes: The Senate’s top Democrat strongly condemned what he called “inappropriate” attempts by Republican lawmakers to intervene in a simmering labor dispute now before the National Labor Relations Board.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Wednesday said the GOP moves were an attempt to “poison the decision-making process” in the increasingly bitter dispute over plans by aerospace giant Boeing Co. to open a major new, non-union manufacturing plant for its premier 787 Dreamliner fleet in South Carolina.
The court date for the complaint is set for June 14. The NLRB filed its complaint against Boeing on April 20.
In a letter to President Obama last week, 19 GOP senators demanded that he withdraw his nominations of NLRB Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon and board member Craig Becker - the two men who are largely seen as responsible for the Boeing action.
Critics of the agency’s actions warn that it could have a chilling effect on corporate investment generally and even could lead U.S. companies to seek opportunities overseas.  http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/may/11/reid-calls-gop-moves-in-boeing-dispute-disgraceful/?page=all#pagebreak

Redstate opines: As of 17 May 2011, armed forces from the United States will have been involved in military combat operations in Libya for 60 days. By that date, President Obama is required by statute to withdraw US Forces from Libya and cease all unpleasantness. Or, he could ask Congress to give him a resolution authorizing the use of force. This would seemingly make for a rather tough day at the links for President Obama.

Dedicated legislators like Senator John Kerry and Congressman James Moran should be in rather high dudgeon. We have a President sending drones to attack a foreign country in hopes of targeting a specific individual. We have a vague, unenforceable UN “no-fly zone” resolution that Russia’s president compared to a medieval call for a crusade. http://www.redstate.com/repair_man_jack/2011/05/11/the-60-day-mark-in-libya-a-serious-deadline-for-a-serious-anti-war-movement/

Powerline writes about the Stimulus report: Benchmark results suggest that the ARRA created/saved approximately 450 thousand state and local government jobs and destroyed/forestalled roughly one million private sector jobs. State and local government jobs were saved because ARRA funds were largely used to offset state revenue shortfalls and Medicaid increases rather than boost private sector employment. The majority of destroyed/forestalled jobs were in growth industries including health, education, professional and business services.
So the American people borrowed and spent close to a trillion dollars to destroy a net of more than one-half million jobs. Does President Obama understand this? I very much doubt it. When he expressed puzzlement at the idea that the stimulus money may not have been well-spent, and said that "spending equals stimulus," he betrayed a shocking level of economic ignorance. "It is with great wonderment and sadness that we listened to your May 10 speech on immigration issues.  All of the joking about moats and alligators cut residents of Portal, AZ, to the core as we sheltered with friends or at a Red Cross evacuation site, to survive a terrible fire that still threatens our lives and property, as well as our ecotourism-based economy," the letter reads.

The Obama Administration sent aid to Mexico to battle a 386 square mile fire but refused to consider the 2.5 million acre fire in Texas a disaster area.
KTRH reported, via Free Republic:
Just last month the U.S. sent two Air force cargo planes to help Mexico battle back wildfires in the northern part of it’s country, fires that burned 386 square miles. It’s a move that West Texas Congressman Francisco Canseco (R-Fort Stockton) thinks is a hypocritical one by the Obama administration as Texas has requested the same sort of federal aid but has been denied it. http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/05/obama-administration-sent-aid-to-mexico-to-fight-wildfires-but-not-to-texas/

CBS reports: How do parents track everything their children are eating in school?  Take a picture of it on a calorie camera.  As Gigi Barnett explains, several schools in Texas already have the federally funded cameras.  Could they make an appearance in Maryland? A camera that takes a snapshot of exactly what students choose as they go through the cafeteria line may be the newest weapon in the fight against childhood obesity.  When lunch is over, the camera takes another picture of what the kids left behind.  The camera then sends the photos to parents.  [This program costs taxpayers $2 million in San Antonio.]  http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2011/05/12/cameras-capture-what-children-eat-at-school/

Multiculturalism, which used to be merely noxious, has become a raging infection which poses as much of a threat to America as the national debt or terrorism — before Osama assumed room temperature.
Recently, a gang of ethnocentric thugs took over a meeting of the governing board of the Tucson, Arizona, Unified School District, chaining themselves to desks, screaming slogans, and chasing board members from the room.
They were enraged by an attempt to make a course that teaches history “from a Mexican-American perspective” optional instead of a substitute for a required course in U.S. history.  http://www.exposeobama.com/2011/05/13/mexicans-who-happen-to-be-living-in-america-demand-racial-grievance-studies/?utm_source=Expose+Obama&utm_campaign=5a65c0d949-EO_05_13_20115_13_2011&utm_medium=email

My Boyne City Gazette Guest Commentary on Freddie, Fannie and Barney;

Feeding at the trough
Greedy bankers and Wall St. traders are blamed for being the cause of the current collapse of America’s real estate market and the resulting recession.  An abbreviated, somewhat simplistic, but factual review of the past is helpful.  This time it is not presented by a liberal press, Barney Frank, or our President.
President Carter accused mortgage lenders of racism and “redlining” – urban blacks being denied mortgages simply because of their race.  Congress consequently passed the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), a progressive law wherein regulators could punish banks who failed to give mortgages to those in distressed neighborhoods.  Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, government- chartered mortgage firms, encouraged banks to make loans to those who would never be able to repay them, saying that a “lack of credit history should not be seen as a negative factor”, encouraging acceptance of welfare payments and unemployment benefits as valid income sources.  Fannie and Freddie then bought those questionable mortgages, then sold them to Wall St., as Franklin Raines of Fannie Mae declared them to be “no risk”.  While Raines was CEO of Fannie he overstated earnings by $10.6 billion, while taking $90 million in salary.
Both President Clinton and President George Bush enabled Freddie and Fannie, and then President Bush asked for their tighter regulation during the time that Senator Barney Frank (D) had jurisdiction over the two entities. Treasury Secretary John Snow proposed placing the companies under Treasury oversight with strict controls over risk and capital reserves, eliminating the power of the President to appoint directors to the companies.  Frank repeatedly declared that “the two companies were not facing any financial crisis – that the Bush Administration was more concerned about financial safety than about housing”.  He added that “The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”
Community organizers forced these subprime mortgages by protesting at banks, by camping at bank owners’ homes, and by filing racism lawsuits. Leftist groups including ACORN intimidated banks to pay them up to $9.5 billion dollars for “services rendered” in the prevention of costly lawsuits. Our great divider and former ACORN organizer and ACORN attorney Barack Obama recently told CEOs of the world’s most powerful financial institutions, “My administration is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.”  In this context “pitchforks” mean the threats, intimidation and coercion of the President, ACORN and union activists such as those deployed to Wisconsin, and the condemnation of an adoring media.   An angry mob has forever been the tool for bringing “fundamental change” to any society; a vehicle for manipulating crowds; a method canceling out the rule of law; and a way to bring a society to its knees, making it ripe for more government control.
The price is now being paid by us all.  Some, who should never have qualified to have a mortgage in the first place, lost their homes, causing too many homes to be on the market, creating a drop in home values.  Government intervention into the real estate market helped cause the financial collapse of our country.  In our private lives we know that if and when we outspend our incomes, buy what we cannot afford, and pretend to be something we are not, the day will come when we will suffer the consequences.
So now Barney Frank, who allowed this to happen in an effort to “be fair”, is laying the blame for our financial collapse on President George Bush, who in his view showed a “lack of regulation.”  Our government has now taken control of Freddie and Fannie, costing taxpayers many billions.  To this day, Frank opposes limits on the amount of money they can risk on mortgage-backed securities, and he blames the Wall St. meltdown on "bad decisions that were made by people in the private sector," adding that the country is in dire straits today "thanks to a conservative philosophy that says the market knows best".  A market not manipulated by government generally does know best.
Banks, Fannie and Freddie, and Wall Street were following the mandates of government.  The poor, encouraged by government, took out ill-advised home mortgages. Frank’s outrage is itself an outrage.

Business Week reveals, with amazing timing: Community activists in St. Louis became concerned a couple of years ago that local banks weren't offering credit to the city's poor and African American residents. So they formed a group called the St. Louis Equal Housing and Community Reinvestment Alliance and began writing complaint letters to federal regulators.
Apparently, someone in Washington took notice. The Federal Reserve has cited one of the group's targets, Midwest BankCentre, a small bank that has been operating in St. Louis's predominantly white, middle-class suburbs for over a century, for failing to issue home mortgages or open branches in disadvantaged areas. Although executives at the bank say they don't discriminate, Midwest BankCentre's latest annual report says it is in the process of negotiating a settlement with the U.S. Justice Dept. over its lending practices.
Lawyers and bank consultants say regulators and the Obama Administration are scrutinizing financial institutions for a practice that last drew attention before the rise of subprime lending: redlining. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/11_20/b4228031594062.htm

USA Today reveals: Feeling under siege in more than a dozen states, some of the nation's largest labor groups are focusing their political activity to challenge state laws that sharply curb union rights or to outs the legislators who crafted them.
That could hurt congressional Democrats who rely heavily on organized labor for campaign money and get-out-the-vote efforts.  Democrats received 93% of the money union-affiliated political action committees donated to federal candidates.  [$1 million was spent in Ohio to put a measure on the ballot to overturn a new state law curbing collective-bargaining rights.  The SEIU is not retreating from federal candidates, saying it will spend $2.2 million to start new outside groups which will tap unlimited donations.]

Wall Street Journal Online reports: Much of the attraction between the sexes is chemistry. New studies suggest that when women use hormonal contraceptives, such as birth-control pills, it disrupts some of these chemical signals, affecting their attractiveness to men and women's own preferences for romantic partners.
Taking the pill or another type of hormonal contraceptive upends this natural dynamic, making less-masculine men seem more attractive, according to a small but growing body of evidence. The findings have led researchers to wonder about the implications for partner choice, relationship quality and even the health of the children produced by these partnerships. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704681904576313243579677316.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_sections_health

KFIAM radio reminds us: Pakistan: 10 years ago the U.S. and Pakistan agreed that if Osama bin Laden was in Pakistan the U.S could unilaterally act to capture or kill him.  The deal was struck between the military leader General Pervez Musharraf and President George Bush after Bin Laden escaped US forces in the mountains of Tora Bora in late 2001, according to serving and retired Pakistani and US officials.

ABC News: The president said “we have gone above and beyond what was requested by the very Republicans who said they supported broader reform as long as we got serious about enforcement.  But even though we’ve answered these concerns, I suspect there will be those who will try to move the goal posts one more time.  They’ll say we need to triple the border patrol.  Or quadruple the border patrol.  They’ll say we need a higher fence to support reform. Maybe they’ll say we need a moat.  Or alligators in the moat.  They’ll never be satisfied.  And I understand that.  That’s politics.”  [When fact-checking the President comes from ABC News, we can have some hope.  Below are the 3 lies the President told.  Go to website to see full explanation.]
1)      “They wanted a fence,” the president said. “Well, that fence is now basically complete.”
The president is referring to the fact that 649 miles of fencing have been completed out of 652 miles of fencing mandated by Congress. (Out of 1,969 miles of border with Mexico.) That is factually correct, [but the border remains porous]..
2)  “The Border Patrol has 20,000 agents – more than twice as many as there were in 2004, a build up that began under President Bush and that we have continued,” the president said.
3)  “We are deporting those who are here illegally.  Now, I know that the increase in deportations has been a source of controversy.  But I want to emphasize: we are not doing this haphazardly; we are focusing our limited resources on violent offenders and people convicted of crimes; not families, not folks who are just looking to scrape together an income.  As a result, we increased the removal of criminals by 70 percent.”

Osama Bin Laden's son complained Tuesday that his father was summarily executed - if he's really dead - and demanded proof from President Obama.
"We are not convinced on the available evidence in the absence of [a] dead body," said Omar Bin Laden, 30, who said he was speaking for his many brothers.
The son, who long ago denounced his father's murderous ways, said Obama was no better than the terrorist.
