Who needs Congress - Part VII - my Boyne City Gazette column

Who needs Congress – part VII

Used by most Presidents, Executive orders by President George W. Bush were condemned by the media.  The next President can choose to overturn all signing statements and Executive Orders issued by a former President, as they are not true laws.  We Americans have the right to be informed by the media of the Executive Orders of President Obama as well. Following are dictates #75-84 in my ongoing expose on President Obama’s lawmaking without the consent of Congress.
1)     The Interior Department listed new rules which would now ban gun owners from using some public lands for target practice.
2)     President has declared that America would follow, even without allowing Congress to vote, a European Union Code of Conduct for outer space.
3)     The Deputy IRS Commissioner told Senators of his desire to have local policemen help them enforce IRS tax codes, and to share once top secret tax information with city and state police.  Our American right to privacy will once again be breached, and our local police will knock on our doors for IRS information?
4)     The Department of Homeland Security is working behind the scenes to halt the deportation of certain illegal immigrants by granting “unlawful presence waivers” to those with relatives who are American citizens.  They will no longer have to return to their native country and then enter our country as legal immigrants do.
5)     Though the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) failed to pass Congress, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice have declared that any Internet domain is subject to seizure at any time.  Many see this as permission for our government to shut down websites with which they may disagree.  At best it brings us questions of government censorship.
6)     The President issued an Executive Order on May 1, 2012 which makes the USA subject to “international regulations” instead of being guided by the American Constitution.  This would eliminate our sovereignty.
7)     On May 2, 2012 came an Executive Order which will have the US bow to international regulations, providing, according to Business Week “a framework to organize scattered efforts to promote international regulatory cooperation.  Many worry that this is just one more step toward President Obama’s desire for global governance.
8)     The Federal Aviation Administration recently explained their rules for licensing drones to be stationed at about 60 sites in America.  Without the input of Congress, the skies of America may contain a tool of war – an unmanned drone - used for local law enforcement, as it already has been out west. It raises the specter of searches without a warrant and Americans’ right to privacy – as we won’t even know they are there.  The agency is “streamlining the process for public agencies to safely fly drones in the nation’s airspace.”  Just last week a supposed drone in the air in Denver nearly caused a mid-air crash.  The FAA is investigating.  Big Brother is watching us.
9)     President Obama’s Administration intends to continue to put on his campaign website “Keeping GOP Honest” the names of major contributors to the Romney campaign, adding that they have less-than-reputable records and “may” have broken the law.  Talk about an enemies list!  This is a despicable thing for the most powerful man in the world, who could sic government agencies on his enemies, to do.  It is unbridled intimidation, and one man is now being harassed and his children are being stalked.
10)  America is now being conditioned by the Department of Defense to accept joint military/police drills, as a recent one in south Florida in the middle of the night demonstrates.  Unlike the “cool tourist story” it was exclaimed to be by media, some would say that this country has never had a civilian military and this action looks inappropriate.  It might appear to be a drill for conducting Martial Law when military helicopters hover over a city’s buildings in the middle of the night, shooting simulated gunfire. It certainly did scare citizens, many of whom called 911 with their fears.

President Barack Hussein Obama is issuing extremely potent and important orders without the input and vote of Congress, and we must remain vigilant.

No religious conflict, says Obama; Felons against Scott Walker; NYC students required to learn Arabic; No Tebowing allowed; No riding bikes to school!; New pool rules altered; Killing new conventional coal plants; Obama's new Assissination Czar;Community Organizer not so qualified

The violence in northern Nigeria is mistakenly viewed as a religious conflict rather than simply a tribal dispute over land, according to the Obama administration.Despite the ongoing Muslim destruction of churches and the slaughter of Christians – including many murdered during worship services – the U.S. Agency for International Development claims that the misunderstandings make it difficult to administer aid programs.
USAID, therefore, has launched a program titled Project PEACE – an acronym for Programming Effectively Against Conflict and Extremism.
PEACE says it will hire contractors to help the agency analyze the “true” causes of conflict and consequently provide more effective humanitarian and conflict-resolution assistance, according to planning documents that WND located via database research.
The cost of Obama’s new “knowledge generation, dissemination and management” initiative is $600 million.  The Statement of Work governing the PEACE procurement does not say that USAID specifically plans to intervene in Nigeria. However, an accompanying guidance document explicitly cites Nigeria’s Christian-Muslim conflict as a “case study” for Obama’s global endeavor.
Contractors selected under Project PEACE would, among other tasks, analyze the historical and cultural contexts of ongoing or developing conflicts.
Those angry Wisconsinites who signed the petition to recall Governor Scott Walker were involved in over 20,000 felonies including homicide, arson and stalking.
Put Wisconsin First recently matched Wisconsin recaller’s names and addresses to Wisconsin Court Cases. There were over 400,000 matches of cases and charges from just over 900,000 signatures.
An upper Manhattan public elementary school will be the first in the city to require that students study Arabic, officials said yesterday.
Beginning next semester, all 200 second- through fifth-graders at PS 368 in Hamilton Heights will be taught the language twice a week for 45 minutes — putting it on equal footing with science and music courses.
One reason Principal Nicky Kram Rosen selected Arabic — as opposed to more common offerings, such as Spanish or French — is because it will help the school obtain a prestigious International Baccalaureate standing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Florida teenager had his diploma withheld and was ordered to clean the school gym as punishment for Tebowing on stage during his graduation ceremony -- and later discovered the punishment was his mother's idea.
The Michigan high school principal who faced blistering criticism after she suspended scores of graduating students because they staged a bicycle-riding parade to school as a senior surprise has issued an apology for her actions.
Katharine Pennington, the principal at Kenowa Hills High School in Walker, Mich., was dismayed at not having been informed in advance about the students’ planned bike ride.  When the estimated 60 students arrived at school on Tuesday morning – the final day of their senior year – Pennington suspended them for the day, forbade them from participating the day’s annual senior walk, and even suggested they would possibly not be able to walk at their graduation ceremony next week. [Now just a minute!  Isn't it Michelle M'Belle Obama who pushes us to exercise?  And now these seniors have had their special last days at school totally trashed by a principal.  Apology extended too late to give them back theyr day, Katharine.....And it sure beats vandalism for a celebration, doesn't it?]
The Justice Department promised Thursday to be “flexible” in enforcing new rules ordering public pools to pay for lifts or ramps for the disabled — backing away from what some pool operators had said was an invitation to a flood of lawsuits against small businesses.
It marked the latest retreat for the department, which earlier this year ruled the Americans With Disabilities Act applied to pools open to the public, such as community recreation centers and hotels, which would have to invest in elevators, lifts or ramps in order to accommodate the disabled.
But with the March compliance deadline looming and members of Congress threatening action, the Justice Department issued an initial delay, and earlier this month extended the stay into next year. On Thursday, the department went further, saying the rules apply chiefly to new pools, while existing pools will only need to comply if it’s easy and cheap to do so. [Ah, the Law of Unintended Consequences again.  Does anyone have a brain?]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Environmental Protection Agency held 12 hours of stacked hearings in Washington, D.C. and Chicago on Thursday in favor of a regulation that analysts have concluded would kill the building of new conventional coal plants in the U.S.

Counterfeit Chinese electronic parts; Snyder's Offshore Wind Energy MOU; "Consensus" on arms sales; Black Panthers want to hang whites; Budget cuts for 9th Circuit discussed; No vote desired on Law of the Sea Treaty; Obama and his "blank screen"; Drones in America may be armed; Disclosing the id of jailed Pakistani doctor; Obama's birth certificate

Vast numbers of counterfeit Chinese electronic parts are being used in US military equipment, a key Senate committee has reported.
The failure of a key part could pose safety and national security risks and lead to higher costs for the Pentagon, the committee said.
US servicemen rely on a variety of "small, incredibly sophisticated electronic components" found in night vision systems, radios and GPS devices and the failure of a single part could put a soldier at risk, the report said.
The committee criticised China for failing to shut down counterfeit manufacturers and said that committee staff wanting to travel to China for the investigation had not been granted visas.
In a May 26, 2011 Mackinac Center article...." For instance a May 12, 2008, Memorandum of Understanding between Michigan and the United Kingdom pledged that the state and the UK would “work jointly to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and increase climate-friendly commerce”.
And just lately Gov. Synder has entered into an interstate offshore wind energy MOU with the  Obama Administration. Even though a study by Global Warming Policy Foundation in London concludes that wind power is simply too expensive to be worth using.
The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush's administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the United States would support the talks as long as the negotiating forum, the so-called Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty, "operates under the rules of consensus decision-making."  [Am I the only one here who recalls that part of the implementation of the UN Agenda 21 is that in communities decisions are made not be votes, but by "consensus", or general opinion?
However, they said insisting that decisions on the treaty be made by consensus "could fatally weaken a final deal."
"Governments must resist US demands to give any single state the power to veto the treaty as this could hold the process hostage during the course of negotiations. We call on all governments to reject such a veto clause," said Oxfam International's policy adviser Debbie Hillier.
The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) chairman wants to remind Attorney General Eric Holder and President Barack Obama that their organization “delivered” the president and his administration to office.  The New Black Panthers, who recently espoused their desire to hang whites and openly meet with a Holocaust-denying terror regime, believes Obama and Holder “owes them” a few favors.
These new incendiary comments come from NBPP Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz on a radio show hosted by his National Field Marshal, King Samir Shabazz.
According to New Black Panther Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz:
  • If Republicans win the White House,There will be little mercy or no mercy on the New Black Panther Party”
  • The New Black Panthers “delivered” Obama into office
  • Obama “owes” the Black Panthers “some favors”
  • Obama and Holder showed the Black Panthers “mercy” in their voter intimidation case, where the DOJ controversially dropped charges against the group
  • Republicans are the “most powerful enemies in the world” and they “hate” the Black Panthers
  • Republicans will brand the Black Panthers “an official hate group, terrorists”
  • Does not know how much longer “President Obama and Eric Holder can hold out” in their favor.

  • Judges on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals plan to vacation in Hawaii on the taxpayers' dime, but they might see their budget cut by Congress as a result. "Ultimately, the Congress has the power to appropriate money, and we need to evaluate the judicial branch budget request in light of some of these expenditures," Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., the Ranking Member on the Senate Budget Committee, told Fox and Friends.
Sessions and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, have asked the court to consider cancelling the Hawaii conference, which will cost $1 million "and provide a chance for judges to partake in yoga, snorkeling and dance lessons," according to The Hill.
The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee announced Wednesday he likely won't bring up the Law of the Sea Treaty for a vote before the November election.
Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) said some lawmakers “on and off the committee” have candidly told him they'd “be more comfortable” if they could avoid having to cast the controversial vote during the campaign season.
But the Oval Office has never seen a prevaricator quite like President Obama.
President Obama has forged his entire political career around his ability to be whatever others want him to be. As Obama himself put it in his second autobiography, The Audacity of Hope, “I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their views.” But Obama isn’t just a blank screen: he is a Magic Mirror.
The Federal Aviation Administration has allowed several police departments to use drones across the U.S. They are controlled from a remote location and use infrared sensors and high-resolution cameras.
Chief Deputy Randy McDaniel of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas told The Daily that his department is considering using rubber bullets and tear gas on its drone.
“We don’t need a situation where Americans feel there is in an invisible eye in the sky,” Jay Stanley, senior policy analyst at ACLU, told CBSDC.

Arizona Officially Accepts Obama's Birth Record  [This has been a very successful ploy by our President to refuse to release any of his personal data.  He gets to keep positioning those who want the truth as conspiracy theorists.  This is one more prime example of his divisive ways as well as his arrogance and narcissism.  He should be ashamed of himself, as he could have put this to rest years ago and chose not to.]

Pakistani sentenced; China buys AMC; Obama

Pakistani doctor who helped US track down Usama bin Laden is reportedly sentenced to at least 30 years in prison.  [I'm not sure he appreciated the security breach coming from Joe Biden, who told the world that it was Seal Team 6 who did it.]
(Fox News)

China's Dalian Wanda Group and AMC Entertainment announced Monday a $2.6 billion deal to take over the U.S. theater group, forming the world's largest cinema chain, according to a new release on the deal.
The move is the latest in a raft of deals between U.S. entertainment companies and Chinese firms, linking the world's largest theater market with the world's fastest growing.
Richard Nixon ordered the IRS to conduct tax audits of those on his infamous “Enemies List.” Now, a spate of investigations and leaks coming out of President Obama’s IRS raises concerns that this administration may also be using the power of the nation’s most feared agency to silence its political opponents.
Today, more than six dozen grassroots citizens groups seeking to gain 501(c)(4)—and in some cases 501(c)(3)--tax status today find themselves facing unexpectedly invasive investigations and onerous procedural hurdles. All these groups have received non-profit recognition at the state level. Yet their requests for IRS recognition have been left in bureaucratic limbo for months—in some cases, for more than two years.

-Two senior Senate Republicans on Monday blasted plans by judges in the 9th Circuit to hold a conference in Hawaii this August that they said could run up a tab of $1 million or more, and includes a schedule of sport fishing, yoga, surfing lessons and Zumba dancing lessons.

Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Budget Committee ranking member Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) last week wrote to 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Alex Kozinski to warn that the Hawaii meeting does not appear to fit with the 9th Circuit's own opinion that the federal budget is tight. The letter was sent just weeks after Republicans took the General Services Administration (GSA) to task for a notorious $800,000 conference that led several GSA officials to resign.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The other day, I called a friend and interrupted her mid-cry. She'd just returned from putting her only son on a plane to China, where he was moving after giving up on getting a job here.
The next day in the supermarket, I bumped into another friend, looking downcast. She told me her only son was planning his move to Hong Kong, after a fruitless year-long search for a job in the financial sector.
"Obama's destroying the economy," she told me; then she looked nervously around at our hyper-Blue State neighbors.  "I feel like I have to whisper, or they're going to come and arrest me."
Welcome to Obama's America 2012, a joy-free zone in which the best and brightest youth are flocking to a Communist dictatorship, because they see more hope of economic opportunity there.
But many of the most driven, entrepreneurial types -- the kind of unstoppable hustlers who built America -- are bolting and may never return.
Why should they when they might land a fine job with that quintessential American company, Procter & Gamble? Its beauty unit is slamming the door on Ohio, and moving its headquarters to Singapore.
Or maybe they'll get a piece of Eduardo Saverin's next venture. He's the billionaire co-founder of Facebook who just tore up his U.S. citizenship.
Back in the halcyon pre-Obama days, Saverin emigrated here from Brazil, looking for opportunity.  Well, he found it -- and now he's following it to Singapore.

Although the NLRB’s so-called ambush election rule was recently (and temporarilystruck down by a federal court, as long as unions control the NLRB, its return is only a matter of time.
One decision, though, that the NLRB issued last year that has been discussed with little understanding by the general public (including many small businesses) is the ability for unions to now unionize “micro unions (or units).”
Simply put, the NLRB now allows small, distinct groups of employees to unionize within a workplace, even if the vast majority of employees working around the small group don’t want to unionize. Further, under the NLRB’s new, micro-union concept, it is very easy for multiple unions to now unionize multiple small distinct groups of employees.
Now, under a recent decision under the NLRB’s Region 2 in New York City, the NLRB has ruled that the shoe salespeople within a large department store are eligible to vote to unionize, despite the fact that the entire store is populated by salespeople.
While the election has yet to be held and, therefore, its outcome unknown, if the union does win, Bergdorf Goodman’s shoe shoppers will be entering a union shop on the second and fifth floors and union-free shops on the first, third and fourth when shopping for everything else.
Imagine Mom & Pop’s Diner, which has six employees—two waitresses, two cooks, and two dishwashers. Under the Obama NLRB’s “micro-union” ruling (under last year’s Specialty Healthcare decision), each job classification (or unit) can become unionized separately. Each can have their own union, or each could be unionized into separate bargaining units, with their own individual contracts…or their own separate labor dispute (i.e., a strike or lockout).
With separate unions, the waitresses could be unionized by the Teamsters, the cooks unionized by the Culinary Union (UNITE-HERE), and the dishwashers could be unionized by the Steelworkers.
For Mom & Pop’s owners, it could very quickly become a costly, company-killing (and job destroying) nightmare.

President Obama last night spent time at the Park Avenue apartment of Blackstone Group (BX) [the world's 2nd largest private equity firm] president Tony James, to press the Wall Street flesh and collect $35,800 per plate. It came just hours after his campaign launched its first formal attack on Mitt Romney's record running Bain Capital -- a private equity firm not terribly dissimilar from Blackstone. Talk about awkward!
While an Obama spokeswoman had been careful to say "no one is... questioning private equity as a whole," she also added that "it's legitimate to question whether those are the values America needs in a president." That's right private equiteers: Obama isn't questioning your right to make money. He's questioning your adherence to American values.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not long after the Blackstone Group bought Travelport Ltd. last August, workers at the company's office campus here began feeling the squeeze.
Two months after the deal closed, scores of employees were lugging boxes of personal belongings to their cars, having lost their jobs. Under Blackstone's ownership, the travel-reservations conglomerate has laid off 841 people, about 10% of its work force. Blackstone, a private-equity firm, has already recouped all of the money it invested in Travelport.

China can now bypass Wall Street when buying U.S. government debt and go straight to the U.S. Treasury, in what is the Treasury's first-ever direct relationship with a foreign government, according to documents viewed by Reuters.
The relationship means the People's Bank of China buys U.S. debt using a different method than any other central bank in the world.

Facebook just joined a “troubled club,” warns the Economist. Now it’s just another “endangered public company.”
Yes, endangered. The number of public companies has declined 37% since 1997. The number of IPOs has dropped from 311 annually before 2000 to 99 the past decade. Meanwhile, the smart CEOs and the Super Rich are “going private,” to avoid government red tape restricting capitalism.

Some of the stuff the Barack Obama campaign is selling to raise money for the re-election effort is pretty unusual.
They would like you to get your pets involved with the campaign by offering doggie sweaters and “I Meow for Michelle” cat collars.
These items may be unique but do they highlight what’s memorable about his past few years in office?
I don’t think so, so I’m offering up a few suggestions.
How about an ‘Obama crucifix cover-up’? It’s to commemorate Obama’s April 2009 visit to Georgetown University when the White House requested that religious symbols be covered up for his speech.
The various green energy companies that have gone bankrupt since receiving government subsidies could offer up some of their equipment to be recycled into campaign pins. There must be something to salvage from Solyndra, Beacon Power, Ener1, Solar Trust of America and the other bankrupt energy companies that received taxpayer cash.
Instead of raffling dinners with the president, raffle exemptions from Obamacare instead. Many unions have received exemptions – don’t you want to take a chance? Besides, if the Catholic Church wins some of those raffles the administration may save money from not having to defend the HHS contraception mandate.
It’s hard to imagine how [Cory] Booker could get that sort of publicity even if he was trying to — and, to be clear, we don’t think he was trying to. (He offered this introspective tweet on Tuesday: “In your most difficult times, hope is generated on the inside. This is the essence of inner strength.”)
And what has Booker been talking about during his time in the national spotlight? Mostly about how negative campaigning is a terrible thing that makes people cynical about American politics, which, of course, is an opinion held by the vast majority of voters.

Suing the Obama Administration; Mayor Cory Booker; Prisoners may not have pork; Obama indoctrination; Fudging job loss figures; Hawaii and O's birth certificate; Health care services got more expensive; Obama bundler and a $1billion solar loan

Cardinal Dolan of NY, Cardinal Wuerl of D.C., Notre Dame--And 40 Other Catholic Dioceses and Organizations--Sue Obama Administration

The dioceses and organizations, in different combinations, are filing 12 different lawsuits filed in federal courts around the country.
The Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. has established a special explain it lawsuit and present news and development concerning it.
In 2009, President Obama delivered the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame. Now, Notre Dame is suing his administration over its insistence that Catholic schools and other institutions provide insurance coverage for sterilizations, contraceptives, and other abortifacient drugs without any meaningful opt-out for conscientious objectors.
I was proud to be photographed with Mayor Cory Booker.  He is a fascinating, level-headed Democrat who has greatly benefited the city of Newark.  We will all be hearing more about him, and I will be writing of his wonderful speech from one year ago.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker credited Bain Capital with growing businesses and said attacks on private equity must stop, during “Meet the Press” Sunday.
As far as that stuff, I have to say from a very personal level, I’m not about to sit here and indict private equity. It’s—to me, we’re just getting to a ridiculous point in America. Especially, I know, I live in a state where pension funds, unions and other people are investing in companies like Bain Capital. If you look at the totality of Bain Capital’s record, they’ve done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses; this to me, I’m very uncomfortable.
But the last point I’ll make is, this kind of stuff is nauseating to me on both sides.
Financial support from Wall Street and, more broadly speaking, the investor class has been key to Booker’s rise, and remains key to his future dreams.
It’s easy to forget, but before the world met Barack Obama in 2004, many believed that the first black president would be Booker. Armed with Stanford, Yale and Oxford degrees and all of the invaluable personal connections he forged at those institutions, he set out in the mid-1990s to craft a uniquely appealing political biography, swearing off lucrative job offers to move to Newark’s Central Ward and take up residence in public housing. Within a few years, he won a seat on the City Council, where he showed an early and consistent knack for self-generated publicity, most notably with a ten-day hunger strike in the summer of 1999. [Of course, Salon is writing with an anti-Cory slant.]
And by the way, Jon Meacham,” Joe Scarborough continued, “I know this will shock a lot of people, but when Bain Capital invests wisely, it helps Bain Capital. It also helps teachers’ unions, it also helps public employee unions, it helps firefighters. I mean, Bain Capital makes their money by public unions investing in them. These big — whether California or New Jersey — and when they invest wisely, guess what? It’s public unions and private investors who profit.”-

Federal judge OK's Ohio prison banning pork for all inmates to placate Muslims

Once again non-Muslims must accommodate Islamic law and practice, and an eager dhimmi judge does the bidding of Islamic supremacists. "Judge rules enforcing Muslim law on everyone not establishment of religion," by Peter Grady for the Greeley Gazette, April 26 (thanks to all who sent this in):
A federal judge says an Ohio prison that forces all inmates to adhere to a strict Islamic diet is not an establishment of religion because everyone eats the same food.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  A YouTube video uploaded on Monday afternoon apparently shows a schoolteacher from the Rowan-Salisbury school district in North Carolina informing a student that failing to be respectful of President Obama is a criminal offense. ...

The video shows a classroom discussion about the Washington Post hit piece about Mitt Romney bullying a kid some five decades ago. One student says, “Didn’t Obama bully someone though?” The teacher says: “Not to my knowledge.” The student then cites the fact that Obama, in Dreams from My Father, admits to shoving a little girl. “Stop, no, because there is no comparison,” screams the teacher. Romney is “running for president. Obama is the president.” ...

The teacher yells — literally yells — that Obama is “due the respect that every other president is due … Listen,” she continues, “let me tell you something, you will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom.” She yells over the student repeatedly, and yells at him that it's disrespect for him to even debate about Romney and Obama.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Hawaii Department of Health’s refusal to confirm to Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett that it has a valid birth certificate on file for President Obama makes it look like Hawaii officials “are hiding something,” said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in an interview this morning with WND.
Bennett told Phoenix talk-radio host Mike Broomhead yesterday on his KFYI AM  show that he might keep Obama’s name off of the state’s presidential ballot if he doesn’t receive the confirmation.
Eight weeks ago,the secretary of state asked Hawaii officials merely for an email confirming the Department of Health has a certified copy of the birth certificate. But Bennett told Broomhead, reported the White House Dossier blog, that Hawaii officials have not complied.
The state of Hawaii has responded to Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett’s request for proof that President Barack Obama was in fact born in the Aloha State.
The Hawaii attorney general’s office has reportedly told Bennett that there are steps he needs to take in order to confirm President Obama’s birth records.
Those steps include Bennett proving that he legitimately needs confirmation in order to update the records at his office.
A new study could pose a challenge to the basic premise of President Barack Obama’s approach to controlling health costs — that spending will come down if doctors don’t give patients as much unnecessary medical care.
The study from the Health Care Cost Institute found that costs rose 3.3 percent in 2010 even though people actually used fewer services in many categories. Spending grew not because there were a lot of unnecessary procedures and treatments but rather because the services themselves got more expensive.

Actor and comedian Jon Lovitz went on the Sean Hannity Show Thursday night and proved that his well-known “bullsh*t” rant was no fluke: he has absolutely no problem with criticizing President Barack Obama’s tactics or policies.
“What I find is [the president] is hypocritical with saying, you know, ‘the 1 percent don’t get us,‘ and he’s a multi-millionaire now,” Lovitz said during his interview Hannity.
“‘You know, they’re not paying their fair share of taxes, now I‘m going over to George Clooney’s house to get money from millionaires and billionaires,’” Lovitz said, imitating President Obama, “and he collected $15 million!”
“‘Wall Street are the bad guys, but now I have to go to a dinner with Wall Street people to get money for my campaign,” Lovitz said, continuing his imitation of the president.
Lovitz then offered some advice for the president:
Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose "God damn America" sermon set off a firestorm during the 2008 campaign, agreed not to publish an account of the episode until after President Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, according to an interview Wright conducted with the author of a new book on Obama.  Wright said he made the decision at the urging of a friend and mentor, the prominent University of Chicago emeritus professor Martin Marty.
In the interview, Wright told Ed Klein, author of The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House, that he keeps a cardboard box of documents and notes detailing his experiences beginning in March 2008, when the controversy over his sermons began.  "It's a painful box to look at," Wright said.

In a considerable setback for a president eager to ravage the due process rights of the American people, Federal Judge Kathleen Forrest granted a preliminary injunction on Wednesday, striking down those sections of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2012 which sought to provide Barack Obama the power to indefinitely detain citizens without benefit of their 5th Amendment rights.
Signed very quietly into law on New Year’s Eve, the controversial Act has been roundly criticized as unconstitutional by groups on both the political left and right. Of greatest concern was Section 1021, which grants the United States military authority to exercise police powers on American soil. Upon order of the president and at his sole discretion, agents of the military are empowered to detain “until the end of hostilities” anyone the president believes to have “substantially supported” al Qaeda, the Taliban, or “associated forces.”
Judge Forrest concluded that the Section “…failed to ‘pass Constitutional muster’ because its broad language could be used to quash political dissent.” In a statement clearly directed to lawmakers, she added,   ”Section 1021 tries to do too much with too little – it lacks the minimal requirements of definition and scienter that could easily have been added, or could be added, to allow it to pass constitutional muster.” That is, Congress failed—perhaps deliberately– to define “substantial support” of terrorist groups or describe those activities which might be construed as crossing the legal line. And no law may be enforced if those to whom it applies are unable to clearly understand what a violation of that law entails.
According to Democrat Senator Carl Levin, it was Obama himself who demanded American citizens be included under the detention law and that the President have exclusive authority to invoke the statute. “The language which precluded the application of Section [1021] to American citizens was in the bill that we originally approved…and the administration asked us to remove the language which says that U.S. citizens and lawful residents would not be subject to this section,” said Levin after the NDAA was signed into law.

Here is news from the Michigan Republican State Convention, comin gto me from Saul Anuzis, the now former State party Chair: Congratulations to Dave Agema & Terri Lynn Land
At this weekend’s Michigan Republican Convention, Holly Hughes and I were defeated for re-election to the RNC.

Tea Party, Ron Paul and “anti-establishment” fever swept the convention.
I have learned that Florida election officials are set to announce that the secretary of state has discovered and purged up to 53,000 dead voters from the voter rolls in Florida.
How could 53,000 dead voters have sat on the polls for so long?  Simple. Because Florida hadn’t been using the best available data revealing which voters have died.  Florida is now using the nationwide Social Security Death Index for determining which voters should be purged because they have died.
Here is the bad news.  Most states aren’t using the same database that Florida is.  In fact, I have heard reports that some election officials won’t even remove voters even when they are presented with a death certificate.  That means that voter rolls across the nation still are filled with dead voters, even if Florida is leading the way in detecting and removing them.  But surely people aren’t voting in the names of dead voters, the voter fraud deniers argue.  Wrong.
Watching Obama campaign ads or MSNBC, one could easily come to the conclusion that Bain Capital makes money by destroying the companies it owns. So for voters unsure about the business that Mitt Romney founded but still reluctant to trust the financial analysis offered by community organizers, some perspective might be helpful.
The basic Obama-liberal critique goes like this: Bain buys a company, loads it with debt and then sucks out cash before foisting the wounded business upon an unsuspecting buyer or a bankruptcy court. In the risk-taking world of private equity such a scenario can certainly happen, and it's true that Bain likes management fees and dividends as much as the next partnership.
If Bain's standard operating procedure were to hand the next owner of one of its companies a ticking bankruptcy package, how is Bain still finding buyers nearly three decades later? And who would agree to lend money to a company backed by Bain? Wouldn't word have gotten around by, say, 1987 that Bain's portfolio companies weren't creditworthy?
