Today I bid you all farewell, not with news of the day, which I hope you will get each day from, but with a rerunning of a column I wrote for the Boyne City Gazette in June of 2011.  It describes the Cloward and Piven Strategy.  It is my hope that more Americans will bother to learn about this strategy now that we can more easily see that its principles are being accomplished.  It is important to the future of our country to understand what is happening before our very eyes.

Never give up the fight for America and her best ideals.  Perhaps the ways of our President will show its full measure of harm to us quickly in this term so that we will once again be eager for a change in 2014 and 2016.  Perhaps the unengaged and uninformed conservatives will finally rise up.  Putting us back together again will be a long and difficult endeavor.

Thank you all for staying with me these 4 1/2 years.  I hope I have made a difference.  You may see some of my writings at the above mentioned site in the future.  God bless you all, and may God bless America.

In the 1960s, two radical Columbia University professors, Cloward and Piven, wrote the The Cloward and Piven Strategy, detailing how to force “political change through orchestrated crisis, seeking to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, stressing the system, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.”
The welfare system was the first target of the Cloward and Piven strategy, using violent demonstrations to achieve desired results. In NYC one of every three people ended up on the welfare rolls, sending the city into bankruptcy and turning welfare from a limited-time expectancy into a lifetime entitlement. The drain on local resources persists indefinitely, just as planned.
In 1970 ACORN was established – the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has been responsible for widespread criminal activity countrywide.  As divulged by Townhall, they successfully used the following Cloward-Piven Strategy to get more Democrat voters:
 1. Register as many Democrat voters as possible, legal or otherwise, and help them vote, multiple times if possible.
2. Overwhelm the system with fraudulent registrations using multiple entries of the same name, names of deceased, random names from the phone book, even contrived names.
3. Make the system difficult to police by lobbying for minimal identification standards.
Rules for Radicals, written by Saul Alinsky in 1989, became the go-to book for those interested in fomenting progressive revolution. With the intent to create a crisis, it was suggested: "Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It, Polarize it."  Remember these rules while reading current events.
Then along came Barack Hussein Obama, almost out of nowhere. Having been deeply influenced in childhood by his mentor (self-proclaimed Communist Frank Marshall Davis);  employed as a community organizer and attorney for ACORN; befriending unrepentant, bomb-throwing Weather Underground's Bill Ayers; and maturing in the thugocracy which is Chicago politics, Obama was uniquely qualified to sell his Hope and Change mantra.  Who could be against that? Those interested in reading the full story can go to:
"Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book Rules for Radicals. “When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one.”
Obama openly campaigned for “fundamental change” for America, and Michelle Obama proclaimed: “Barack knows that we are going to have to make sacrifices; we are going to have to change our conversation; we're going to have to change our traditions, our history; we're going to have to move into a different place as a nation."  I agree with the President that words, indeed, do matter.  Our country is being fundamentally changed as promised: bail-outs; government take-over of private companies; the breaking of legal contracts; stimulus spending mostly on government jobs; an increasing social and socialist agenda in our schools; wildly unpopular government healthcare; Obamacare waivers to many unions; and unemployment compensation now reaching almost two years; higher taxes on the horizon; promotion of amnesty for illegal aliens before border security; federal lawsuits against states; dropping prosecution of blatant Black Panther intimidation at voting centers; and tasking NASA to make Muslims feel better about their historic contribution to science, among others.
We must also remember that Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's Chief-of-Staff, once declared that Rule #1 is to "never let a serious crisis go to waste."
It really doesn't matter if this is coincidental - or if it demonstrates the above strategies in action.  Either way, our country is in great crisis!  The Socialists are openly demonstrating at various protests in America, for they believe that this is their time.  Only we can save our Republic – by educating ourselves, exercising our rights as citizens, and supporting those who believe in American greatness.

* In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to
defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. This doesn't include the 30 million 'Uncle Joe' starved to
death in the Ukraine.

* In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

* Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, leaving a populace unable to defend itself
against the Gestapo and SS. Hundreds of thousands died as a result.

* China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

* Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

* Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves
were rounded up and exterminated. The total dead are said to be 2-3 million

* Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, 1-2 million 'educated' people, unable to
defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

* Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million at a
bare minimum.

Gun Control & Genocide

Down through history, governments have disarmed their citizens only to tyrannize those citizens once they were disarmed.

The following chart documents just a few examples from recent history where "gun control" laws were enacted and then tyranny by the government proceeded.

Mich. Mayor Called Bow Hunters ‘Predators’ for Killing Deer, Wants Judge to ‘Inflict the Maximum Fine’ and Jail Time

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Raymond J. Learsy's HuffPo article takes both Damon and anti-fracking celebrity Yoko Ono to task for demonizing a process which could be a game changer for both the American economy and energy independence as a whole.

In a surprising decision last week that drew little press attention, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, handed the Boy Scouts a victory over a lesbian couple and an agnostic couple.  The Ninth Circuit is considered the most liberal appellate court in the land.

The Boy Scouts’ victory came nearly ten years after they were originally sued.

At issue in the case are leases between San Diego and the Boy Scouts which allow the Boy Scouts to build and operate camp grounds and an aquatic center for use by the Scouts and the public. The lesbian and agnostic couples sued even though they had never visited the facilities nor asked to join in scouting activities.

Richard Thompson, TMLC’s President and Chief Counsel, commented:

“The Plaintiff-couples never visited the facilities in question nor did they ask to participate in scout activities.  Their sole reason for bringing  this lawsuit was because they were offended and outraged by the Boy Scout’s  Oath to do his duty to God and his country and to keep himself morally straight.   Although the Ninth Circuit Court’s decision in favor of the Boy Scouts is to be applauded, the case should have been dismissed at the outset, since being offended by the Boy Scouts’ religiosity and opposition to homosexuality is not a basis for “standing” to bring the lawsuit.”

That's the scenario where Congress fails to pass a farm bill to extend agricultural subsidies, which in turn would cause milk prices to soar.
But USDA data shows 2011 milk sales reached their lowest levels since 1984, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Rick Barrett.
In September, Barrett wrote that total U.S. beverage milk sales last year were 53 billion pounds - about 6 billion gallons, he reports.
Plus, more than half of all adults no longer drink milk at all, data site Informa recently reported.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What with a Presidential election, two severe hurricanes, multiple mass shootings and a fiscal cliff, it has been a busy year for Barack Obama.
But at every twist and turn, his decisions, reactions and emotions have been captured in photographs.

Now, as 2012 comes to a close, the President has pulled together a collection of his favourite pictures for the year and posted them to the White House Facebook page for America to enjoy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rep. Darrell E. Issa, California Republican and chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, praised on Friday the inclusion of special provisions in the proposed 113th Congress rules package that will keep in place legal obligations on Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and others at the Justice Department as a result of “Fast and Furious” subpoenas issued in the 112th Congress.
The inclusion in the House rules will allow a civil lawsuit, authorized by a bipartisan vote of the House in July 2012, to continue. Without the provisions, the Justice Department could have argued that its obligation to produce subpoenaed documents expired with the previous Congress. The lawsuit seeks the federal court to compel the production of the records.

“We must obey God rather than men!”—Acts 5:29.

Now that Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor has denied Hobby Lobby’s application for an emergency injunction protecting them from Obamacare’s HHS Mandate on abortion and birth control, Hobby Lobby has decided to defy the federal government to remain true to their religious beliefs, at enormous risk and financial cost.
This is civil disobedience, consistent with America’s highest traditions when moral issues are at stake. The Greens are a law-abiding family. They have no desire to defy their own government. But as the Founders launched the American Revolution because they believed the British government was violating their rights, the Greens believe that President Barack Obama and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius are commanding the Greens to sin against God, and that no government has the lawful authority to do so.
The House of Representatives passed H.R. 8 on August 1, 2012 on a strong bipartisan vote of 256 to 171.  The bill would postpone the "fiscal cliff" tax hikes for one year and set in place a process for fundamental tax reform in 2013.  Now nearly five months later, the Senate still refuses to act.
Even if Senate Democrats insist on tax hikes, their refusal to act on H.R.8 is unforgivable.  The U.S. Constitution is crystal clear in Article I, Section 7: "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills."  [Do you see how this works?  The Congress has been constantly chastised by Barack Obama for not doing their job - and then he gives them all a pay raise anyway.....]

Obama, the DHS, and guns; Obamacare affects businesses; Chicago Teachers Union sues;

"All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach."

--Adolf Hitler
“According to my source, there is talk among the highest levels of the uppermost echelon of the Department of Homeland Security, which he describes as effectively under the control of Barack Hussein Obama. During this call, he said that the DHS is actively preparing for massive social unrest inside the United States. [Do you recall the enormous number of bullets recently ordered by DHS and the IRS?] He then corrected himself, stating that “a civil war” is the more appropriate term. Certain elements of the government are not only expecting and preparing for it, they are actually facilitating it,” stated my source. (CFP May 8, 2012).  This CFP article is fascinating and includes the following: “The DHS takes their marching orders from the Obama administration, from Obama himself, but mostly from his un-appointed czars. And Jarrett, especially Valerie Jarrett. Don’t think for a minute that the administration is doing anything to stabilize events in the U.S. They are revolutionaries, and revolutionaries thrive on chaos,” he added.
Hagmann’s article went viral but as we all know last month saw the reelection of the man who would bring America into another Civil War.
Straight out of the Hagmann article came a warning that talk among the highest levels of the uppermost echelon of the Department of Homeland Security pointed to a coming “civil war”.
That Civil War was catapaulted to lead story position on the Drudge Report today.
“This is not a drill.  It’s the real thing,” Hagmann told Alex Jones on his radio show today.
Darkness is descending on America.
Historians will record December 27, 2012 as the day freedom died in ‘The Land of the Free’.

Summary of 2013 legislation - [in part, and to be introduced by Diane Feinstein.  She wants all gun owners to be fingerprinted and photographed.]

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:
  • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
    • Background check of owner and any transferee;
    • Type and serial number of the firearm;
    • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

A weekly publication in New York, The Journal News, has come under fire for publishing the names and addresses of pistol permit holders in two New York counties. On Thursday, the publication got some help from a couple of MSNBC hosts who defended the paper’s actions.
During Thursday’s edition of “The Cycle,” co-host TourĂ© argued that he has every right to know the identity of every gun owner around him.

Democrat Corey Booker: Mentally Stable Gun Purchasers Rarely Commit Crime

Newark mayor Corey Booker appeared on ABC News and characterized the current gun control debate as a “false dichotomy.” It was definitely refreshing to see a Democrat engage in some free-thinking and dispel some erroneous notions.
“I’m not afraid of law-abiding citizens who buy a gun,” he said. “Buy the guns you want. What the problem is in America right now is that a terrorist person who is on the no-fly list could go into the secondary market today and buy a weapon.”
“Criminals are killing people,” the mayor added. “Not law-abiding gun owners.”  [Do you see one reason why I really am impressed with this Democrat?]

Bombshell: Clinton Ordered More Security In Benghazi, Obama Denied Request
    • --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    • Craft store giant Hobby Lobby is bracing for a $1.3 million a day fine beginning January 1 for noncompliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, dubbed Obamacare. The company opposes providing some contraceptives to employees through its company health care plan on religious grounds, saying some contraceptive products, like the morning after pill, equate to abortion.
After failing to receive temporary relief from the fines from the Supreme Court, Hobby Lobby announced late Thursday through its attorneys that it "will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees. To remain true to their faith, it is not their intention, as a company, to pay for abortion-inducing drugs."
In the face of that opposition, the Department of Health and Human Services tweaked its original rule in February to require health insurers, not employers, to cover the cost of contraception coverage, reasoning that would prevent religious groups from having to finance such coverage. Critics have argued that exemption for nonprofits is far too narrow and a host of nonprofit religious groups have sued the administration over the regulations.
The Internal Revenue Service regulations now say that a group health care plan that "fails to comply" with the Affordable Care Act is subject to an "excise tax" of "$100 per day per individual for each day the plan does not comply with the requirement." It remains unclear how the IRS would implement and collect the excise tax.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Chicago Teachers Union has sued the nation's third largest school district, saying Mayor Rahm Emanuel's campaign to reform or close underperforming public schools discriminates against African-American teachers and staff.

A company in the wedding industry based in Annapolis, Maryland will close it's doors, rather than face lawsuits for refusing to serve same-sex marriage couples.  [So why can't the gay couples just find a wedding provider who doesn't care about the issue?  That's the difference.  Those on the left are angry and vindictive when their precious agenda is thwarted, even though they represent only about 4% of Americans.]

A federal judge ruled on Monday that the state of Oklahoma has the right to cut taxpayer funding to the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The abortion giant sued the state of Oklahoma after state officials yanked taxpayer funds it received through a taxpayer-funded program that provides food for low income women and children.
In October, Oklahoma officials dropped the abortion giant so it could steer tax dollars to legitimate agencies helping women and children in need.

Brits Petition Government: We Don’t Want Piers Morgan Back

Clarkson: ‘It took us 40 years to get rid of him’

Brits have responded to the petition calling on the White House to deport Piers Morgan for his anti-second amendment stance by lodging a petition of their own with UK Home Secretary Theresa May entitled ‘Stop Piers Morgan from being deported back to the UK from America’.
The original petition to deport Morgan for his unconstitutional rhetoric following the Sandy Hook school shooting has now achieved almost 70,000 signatures, well beyond the 25,000 required to mandate a White House response.
While CNN’s Piers Morgan is a well known critic of America’s Second Amendment, he has now ventured into a new campaign to reform another document critical in the development of western civilization; the Bible.
During a discussion on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” on Monday — Christmas Eve — with Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren, Morgan argued that there needs to be an “amendment to the Bible” for same-sex marriage, because like the Constitution, the Bible is “inherently flawed.”
Morgan’s campaign has infuriated Second Amendment enthusiasts, leading to a petition to the White House signed by over 75,000 calling for the CNN host’s deportation back to Britain. This development led to a counter protest in the UK “Stop Piers Morgan from being deported back to the UK from America.”
This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Los Angeles riots, sparked by the acquittal of four Los Angeles Police Department officers accused of beating the now-deceased Rodney King. During the five days, mobs around Los Angeles looted stores, burnt 3,767 buildings, caused more than $1 billion in property damage, and led to the deaths of more than 50 people and left another 4,000 injured. A story that has been forgotten since then is that of the brave storeowners in Koreatown who fended off mobs with handguns, rifles and assault weapons.

On the second day of the riots, the police had abandoned much of Koreatown. Jay Rhee, a storeowner in the area, stated to The Los Angeles Times, “we have lost faith in the police.”

With the cops nowhere to be found, hundreds of people marauded through the streets towards Koreatown. The neighborhood suffered 45 percent of all the property damage and five fatalities of storeowners during the riots. Having had enough of waiting for police, Korean storeowners assembled into militias to protect themselves, their families, and businesses.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “From the rooftops of their supermarkets, a group of Koreans armed with shotguns and automatic weapons peered onto the smoky streets…Koreans have turned their pastel-colored mini-malls into fortresses against looters tide.”
From a Facebook posting: "For centuries women have fought the notion that they are "things" used only for sex.  Then along came Barack Obama and Sandra Fluke."

Bloggers Outing Gun Owner Outers at The Journal News

In a politically driven world that gets away with pretending that criminals and terrorists don’t exist but deceitfully brands innocent gun owners as criminals, thousands of New York citizens with handgun permits have had their names and addresses outed on an interactive map—still up—on The Journal News website,

ABC News Commenter George Thompson’s wish seems to have come true after he posited: “How about a map of the editorial staff and publishers of Gannett and Journal News with names and addresses of their families”, in the comment section for a story about the Journal News’ interactive map carried by ABC News.

'We're in no position to confirm the veracity or origin of this,' she said. 'I think it is fair to say the conditions described in the letter certainly conform to what we know about conditions in re-education through labor camps.'
China's re-education through labor is a system of punishment that allows for detention without trial.
Masanjia labor camp is located in the industrialized capital of the Liaoning Province in northeast China.  [Now which democrat politician recently praised they way things are done in China? Oh, yes, it was Elizabeth Warren, praising Communist China as a Model for America in a campaign commercial from the Democratic candidate for U.S. ... WND has selected U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. for its first-ever Benedict Arnold Award.
“There are lots of bad guys out there who would qualify as ‘Villain of the Year,’ but precious few candidates for the ‘Benedict Arnold Award,’” explained WND Vice President and Managing Editor David Kupelian. “Benedict Arnold, after all, was a good guy; he was an American general in the Revolutionary War who fought valiantly on behalf of the Continental Army – that is, until, for reasons yet unknown, he defected to the British side and betrayed the cause he had formerly served.”
Kupelian added, “That pretty much describes Justice Roberts, who gained the enthusiastic support of conservatives and other Constitution-lovers by virtue of his earlier rulings and judicial temperament, and yet betrayed that trust in a devastating way. And we still don’t know why he did it.”

Someone needs to tell Barack Obama—it must get particularly confusing this time of year—that his own birth is not Year One, the date around which all other events are understood. His much-noted, self-referential tic was on cringe-worthy display Friday when the president gave his eulogy for the late Sen. Daniel Inouye, who served in Congress for half a century representing Obama’s birth state of Hawaii. Inouye was a Japanese-American war hero (he lost an arm in World War II, destroying his dream of becoming a surgeon), and as a senator he served on the Watergate committee,

Obama can't help but rub our noses in his election victory

Recall that Barack Obama told voters on the campaign trail not to boo when he mentioned Mitt Romney's name but "to vote for revenge."

He was appealing to the lowest common denominator in people: the desire to blame others for their woes.

Patrick O'Connor and Peter Nicholas report in the Wall Street Journal:

At one point, according to notes taken by a participant, Mr. Boehner told the president, "I put $800 billion [in tax revenue] on the table. What do I get for that?"
"You get nothing," the president said. "I get that for free."

Boehner - at great personal and political risk to himself - offered to negotiate a deal with the President to avoid going off the fiscal cliff and gets his nose rubbed into the dirt.

He again boasted of his winning the election - in a new variation of 'I won":

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Former President Obama grillout buddy and self-described communist Bill Ayers came out this month to discuss how leftists can mold America to their liking: through access to schools. Ayers is famous for, in 1969, helping found Weather Underground, a self-described communist revolutionary group that bombed public buildings including police stations, the Pentagon, and the U.S. Capitol to provoke social unrest. Ayers also directed a school that allowed no grades or report cards in an effort to discourage competition.

A 1973 book Ayers coauthored was dedicated to Sirhan Sirhan, the convicted assassin of Robert Kennedy. He has spoken and written frequently on education and assisted former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley in reshaping the city's schools in the 1990s. Sol Stern has written in City Journal: "Calling Bill Ayers a school reformer is a bit like calling Joseph Stalin an agricultural reformer."

The Left does not like oil companies.  They have challenged Chevrons’ effort to expand in Richmond.  It has cost the company millions in fee’s and attorneys and tens of millions in lost profit.  No telling how many jobs were lost.
Now Chevron is making a rational decision—it is moving to Texas.  The California job flight is getting worse.  Wonder how many tax dollars will be lost?

Twenty-seven-year-old former Marine Jon Hammar of Palmetto Bay will be released Friday from a Mexican prison, according to U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

Hammar was arrested over the summer in Mexico because he carried an antique shotgun over the border. He and his family and said it was an honest mistake.
“No American should be in a Mexican jail for five months without being able to have his case in front of a judge,” said Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL). Nelson made a direct appeal to the Mexican ambassador to the U.S. “We’re grateful; this is a good Christmas present.”
In a recent photo, Hammar was shown in prison chained to a bed causing concern amongst his family.

In the December 19th edition of TIME Magazine, Andrew Breitbart was honored in the publication's "Tribute to Those We Lost" for 2012. Andrew was a warrior, a new media pioneer, and a loving husband and father. He is terribly missed by all those here at Breitbart News.

As Republicans sift through the wreckage of the presidential election and Democrats brace for the 2014 midterms, there is one clear point of agreement between them: Independent voters no longer decide elections.  [Independents went heavily for Romney.  However, it was the under-informed and uninformed who learn all their news from the likes of Jon Stewart and David Letterman, Bill Maher and the like, who turned the election to Obama.]

We live in an entertainment culture soaked in graphic, often sadistic, violence. Older folks find themselves stunned by what a desensitized youth finds routine, often amusing. It’s not just movies. Young men sit for hours pulling video-game triggers, mowing down human beings en masse without pain or consequence. And we profess shock when a small cadre of unstable, deeply deranged, dangerously isolated young men go out and enact the overlearned narrative.
If we’re serious about curtailing future Columbines and Newtowns, everything — guns, commitment, culture — must be on the table. It’s not hard for President Obama to call out the NRA. But will he call out the ACLU? And will he call out his Hollywood friends?
Democrats and the media insist the Community Reinvestment Act, the anti-redlining law beefed up by President Clinton, had nothing to do with the subprime mortgage crisis and recession.
But a new study by the respected National Bureau of Economic Research finds, "Yes, it did. We find that adherence to that act led to riskier lending by banks."
Added NBER: "There is a clear pattern of increased defaults for loans made by these banks in quarters around the (CRA) exam. Moreover, the effects are larger for loans made within CRA tracts," or predominantly low-income and minority areas.

The collapse of a government-subsidized battery manufacturer has caused the production of a government-subsidized electric car company to halt, raising questions about the government’s decision to support the two companies.
The Washington, D.C., Curcuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Obama administration must follow through on a vow to revise requirements for employers who offer health insurance to fund contraception for employees.

Wheaton College and Belmont Abbey College are among several religiously-affiliated institutions that filed suit over the contraception mandate, saying that it violates their First Amendment-protected beliefs, reported Fox News.
Outraged families are demanding an apology from a local school in Idaho after a 36 year-old man entered a classroom and assaulted fifth grade pupils, putting one in a choke-hold.
Grandmother Jerry Peery says she only found out about the incident at Highland School in the rural town of Craigmont, when her grandson returned home from school on Monday.
Ms Peery is just one of the many family members who called the police regarding the incident, and now demanding an explanation and apology for delayed action over the assaults.
'The police were called only after the kids came home and started telling us parents what went wrong,' Ms Perry said. 'I would at least like an apology.'

Plan B fails; Obama is Times' Person of the Year; US Marine still in Mexican prison; More Benghazi information - and more

Storm Draco in Michigan{These are tall river birches, now nearly to the ground.}

Thursday night 13 conservative House Republicans defeated the Rule for the vote on Speaker Boehner’s highly controversial “Plan B.”
Let’s not forget here that in terms of pressure, a great deal of it was coming from the GOP House Leadership. Congressmen Amash, Huelskamp, and Jones were removed from their committee assignments for not cooperating with the Leadership.

Then there was the great Brent Bozell from For America (as reported at Breitbart) pounding away just Wednesday at a Capitol Hill presser saying:

Senate majority leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, made his "fiscal cliff" position clear in a press conference today. "We are not going to do anything," said Reid.

Reid added, "We are not taking up anything they are working on over there."
The top Democrat in the Senate was explaining his inaction on the House plan, the proposal put forward by Republican John Boehner, the speaker of the House of Representatives. Boehner's plan is being referred to as 'Plan B.'
I’m going to make a prediction, right here and now, and write it down – and call me on it. If the Republicans support this tax increase, they will lose control of the House in the 2014 elections,” Bozell said.
Richard Stengel, the TIME Magazine guy, the editor.  You know, yesterday he was on Today show, announced Obama as the Person of the Year. He said the reason why they named Obama Person of the of Year is because the no-information voters love the guy.  They're transforming America.  They actually said this. TIME magazine said it's remarkable he's worth being Person of the Year, 'cause he's the guy that ended up being able, the first politician to get votes from people who don't care about anything and who aren't paying attention.  That is worth honoring in 2012, almost 2013 America.
Any hope that Jon Hammar, the Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a disputed gun charge, might be freed in time for Christmas has apparently been dashed by a terse letter a top Mexican diplomat sent to Hammar’s congresswoman.
The two-page missive from Mexican Ambassador to the United States Arturo Sarukhan to Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), who has been aggressively advocating for Hammar's release, leaves little hope of a diplomatic solution. In it, Sarukhan takes a thinly veiled swipe at the U.S., blaming it for gun proliferation south of the border.
"As you know well, Mexico has had very stringent gun-control laws in place for many years, and have reinforced their application as a result of the flow of weapons illicitly purchased in the U.S. and then trafficked into Mexico and into the hands of transnational criminal organizations," Sarukhan wrote.
Even more damning, in its absence, was the [Benghazi] report’s failure to step back and question whether the Obama administration, at its highest levels (starting with the president), created the conditions for Benghazi by overstating the decimation of al-Qaida and playing down the significance of the extremist elements, possibly al-Qaida-linked, that have reemerged in the aftermath of the Arab Spring in Libya and elsewhere. Unless this reckoning is made, it is easy to imagine a similar disaster happening in post-Assad Syria, or elsewhere in the region. This has been a chief Republican talking point against Obama since the Benghazi attacks occurred on Sept. 11.
The chairman and the vice chairman of the State Department Accountability Review Board (ARB) that investigated the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, made dramatically different statements on Wednesday about the duration of those attacks that resulted in the deaths of four Americans.
The relevant duration of the event shrunk from "almost eight hours" to "only about 20 or 30 minutes" when a reporter asked this "accountability" team why the U.S. military had not been sent to Benghazi to help that night.
During his opening statement at a State Department briefing, Ambassador Thomas Pickering, who chaired the ARB, said the terrorist attacks occurred over a span of almost eight hours.
What you will witness today during the Democratic-led Senate Intelligence Committee investigating the Benghazi terrorist attack, spearheaded by Hillary Clinton’s expected replacement, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass), will be nothing more than a dog and pony show. Sen. Kerry will toe-the-line. This is the same John Kerry, who after he left Vietnam, accused his military brothers of war crimes without evidence, wants Hillary’s job, and to keep his future boss President Obama very happy.
We were warned these times would come: when men called evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. Take heed. Those with eyes to see and ears to hear are mourning America today.
If the 2nd Amendment is responsible for Newtown, Conn. then let's have a look at what really kills Americans. Guilty and innocents alike. Let's legislatively ban the obviously responsible parties in each category of unnecessary death. (using Left-think)Smoking related deaths - 434,000+
In the 21st century, are we returning to the racial labyrinth of the19th-century Old Confederacy, where we measure our supposed racial DNA to the nth degree? Apparently yes. ESPN sports commentator Rob Parker blasted Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III last week for admirably stating that he did not wish to be defined by his race rather than by his character: "He's black, he does his thing, but he's not really down with the cause." Parker added: "He's not one of us. He's kind of black, but he's not really like the kind of guy you really want to hang out with." (ESPN suspended Parker for his remarks.)
Many forms of violence and hardship have befallen Syria’s people as the country’s civil war has escalated this year. But the Syrian government’s attack here on Dec. 12 pointed to one of the war’s irrefutable patterns: the deliberate targeting of civilians by President Bashar al-Assad’s military, in this case with a weapon that is impossible to use precisely.
Syrians on both sides in this fight have suffered from the bloodshed and sectarian furies given dark license by the war. The victims of the cluster bomb attacks describe the tactic as collective punishment, a mass reprisal against populations that are with the rebels.
In August 2011, five months after Syria erupted into violence over government repression, President Obama declared that Bashar Assad should resign from office. Though Obama didn’t use the words “regime change,” he was effectively making that the goal of U.S. policy.
Sixteen months have passed since the president issued his statement. Over that period, the United States did very little to strengthen the relatively moderate, pro-Western Syrian rebels who are competing for arms and influence with extremist, anti-Western rebels tied to al-Qaeda. Instead, the Obama administration relied on the United Nations to broker a diplomatic solution. This strategy was always destined to fail, and it did, with Russia and China vetoing three separate Security Council resolutions. As a result, the situation in Syria is far worse and far more dangerous in December 2012 than it was in August 2011.
“There were giants in the earth in those days.” The death on December 19 of Robert Bork—superb legal scholar, preeminent constitutional thinker, principled public servant—calls to mind the other giants of American conservatism who have left us in the last decade: Bill Buckley and Irving Kristol, Milton Friedman and James Q. Wilson, Richard John Neuhaus and Jeane Kirkpatrick, Ronald Reagan and Jack Kemp. They were the greatest conservative generation. They rode into the valley of liberal orthodoxies and emerged sometimes triumphant, always unbowed. When can their glory fade? They left our nation stronger and better for their efforts.
Could the release of “Zero Dark Thirty” provoke violent protests against the U.S. in response to the film’s searing depictions of “enhanced interrogation” — the coercive, super-secret and bitterly debated methods used by the CIA against al Qaeda terrorism suspects?
