2010 Choices, Terror, and Massachusetts Politics

"A man can fail many times, but he isn't a failure until he begins to blame someone else." Auguste Rodin [Perhaps it is time for our President to stop blaming everything on his predecessor and, not just in a speech, truly blame himself and his failures......]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100111/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_fort_hood_pentagon_review A Defense Department review of the shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, has found the doctors overseeing Maj. Nidal Hasan's medical training repeatedly voiced concerns over his strident views on Islam and his inappropriate behavior, yet continued to give him positive performance evaluations that kept him moving through the ranks. The picture emerging from the review ordered by Defense Secretary Robert Gates is one of supervisors who failed to heed their own warnings.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Republican Scott Brown’s campaign warms up to take Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in Massachusetts, Frank Quaratiello of the Boston Herald is reporting something shocking: if Brown wins, Massachusetts Democrats may drag out his certification as the victor to enable appointed Sen. Paul Kirk (the former DNC chairman) to put ObamaCare over the top.
  • CBS News reports: British Intelligence has confirmed perhaps the most chilling boast that accused Christmas Day bomber Umar Abdulmutallab made to investigators after his arrest: that close to 20 other young Muslim men were being prepared in Yemen to use the same technique to blow up airliners, CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian reports exclusively.

  • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • as Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan conceded, the NCTC was well aware Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was seeking foot soldiers to attack the U.S.

Even though the NCTC had gotten screamingly clear warnings that Abdulmutallab was likely one of those recruits.

President Obama announced remedial action, including ordering his intel crew to accountably pursue terror tips. How basic is that?

Obama's performance was his strongest to date in struggling to get command of an administration that was clueless as to the seriousness of the attack and its own bumbling. So clueless, NCTC boss Michael Leiter took to the ski slopes after the bombing attempt. So clueless, Brennan fessed up to having given Leiter the okay to go.

While accepting responsibility and promising accountability, Obama blamed the system and took no action against anyone, not even Leiter, who after three years at the top of NCTC produced an operation that was neither "comprehensive or functioning." That doesn't come close to accountability. That's bunker-mode insanity.

  • Let me review: the Administration had non-specific details that Al Quaeda was planning a Christmas holidays threat on the US airlines. The National Counter Terrorism Center head asked if he could still go on a ski vacation. Barack Obama then decided that even though one attempt had nearly succeeded, and America was at great risk of others intent on jihad, the two of them could each continue their vacations. Now Barack Obama states that he will get tough on terrorism, but he is "not one to point fingers of blame" (or fire ones who totally failed in their jobs). Oops, another lie by Obama, for he consistently points the finger of blame away from himself for every criticism - by blaming George W. Bush. I for one won't believe his words until someone or some people are actually fired for their poor performance and or their outright incompetency. They need to take responsibility for their failures, and perhaps actually focus on Homeland Security instead of health care and cap and trade..
  • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Only 12 days after the panty bomber tried to blow up an airplane over Detroit, our government has decided to revoke his Visa! Isn't that just great?!
  • -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • The most important three-year period in the history of the United States will start on January 1, 2010. The choices that we as a people make during this time may well relegate our country to secondary status (easily dominated by those who wish to make us subservient to their power, influence, and ideology) -- or, in the alternative, allow us to continue as the greatest nation in the history of mankind. Is this unadulterated hyperbole? The choices we have made in the past and the policies that we are in the process of ratifying may well achieve what the Civil War, the Great Depression, and World War II did not: the downward spiral of the American people and nation. http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/01/the_most_important_three_year.html
  • --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • From Bloomberg.com: The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, then led by Timothy Geithner, told American International Group Inc. to withhold details from the public about the bailed-out insurer’s payments to banks during the depths of the financial crisis, e-mails between the company and its regulator show. AIG said in a draft of a regulatory filing that the insurer paid banks, which included Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Societe Generale SA, 100 cents on the dollar for credit-default swaps they bought from the firm. The New York Fed crossed out the reference, according to the e-mails, and AIG excluded the language when the filing was made public on Dec. 24, 2008. The e-mails were obtained by Representative Darrell Issa, ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. [Now we can see what kind of executive decisions led to our President's appt. of this man to be out Treasury Secretary: the willingness to bend the law and to hide what he is doing to our country.]

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps the following is the type of fraud our government should be attacking, instead of taking over 16% of our economy for what will become a single payer system for health care in America. According to the Charleston Daily Mail: For three years now, a woman has left her home in Poughkeepsie, New York, five days a week and taken a taxi to visit her child at St. Margaret’s Center, a nursing home for disabled children in Albany, New York. Each night, she rides home by taxi. That costs $300 a day. What dedication — by taxpayers. That is right. Taxpayers have shelled out $196,000 over the past three years so that she can make the trip.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With campaign radio ads billing the five-term Republican senator as "Arizona's last line of defense,'' the GOP's nominee for president in 2008 is attempting to bolster his 2010 campaign for reelection to the Senate with a slam at the president.

"President Obama is leading an extreme left-wing crusade to bankrupt America,'' McCain says in one of the radio ads his campaign is airing. McCain got his own head-knocking in the 2008 presidential election, and now he could be facing a party primary contest from a former Republican congressman, J.D. Hayworth, who is an outspoken critic of immigration reform -- an issue which McCain has championed in the Senate, and an issue on which McCain, Obama and some of the Senate's leading Democrats happen to agree. They support a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants. [Isn't this the person who, on the Campaign trail, assured us that we have nothing to fear from an Obama Administration?]

A federal judge has tossed out most of the government's evidence against a terrorism detainee on grounds his confessions were coerced, allegedly by U.S. forces, before he became a prisoner at Guantanamo Bay. In a ruling this week, U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan also said the government failed to establish that 23 statements the detainee made to interrogators at Guantanamo Bay were untainted by the earlier coerced statements made while he was held under harsh conditions in Afghanistan.

Jon Gruber, a prominent MIT economist [has] been one of the country's leading advocates of Democratic health care reform legislation. Except it now appears that Gruber didn't do a very good job of disclosing an enormous conflict of interest, according to Firedoglake:

He has consistently failed to disclose that he has had a sole-source contract with the Department of Health and Human Services since June 19, 2009 to consult on the “President’s health reform proposal.”

He is one source for the claim that the excise tax will result in raises for workers (though his underlying study is in-apt to the excise tax question). He is the basis for the argument that the Senate bill reduces families’ risk–even if it remains totally unaffordable. Even Politico stenographer Mike Allen points to Gruber’s research.

But none of the references to Gruber I’ve seen have revealed that Gruber has a $297,600 contract with HHS [U.S. Department of Health and Human Services] to produce,

Harkin on Health Care, Nelson's Kickback, and Global Cooling

Have you seen or heard of Senator Harkin's comments on the health care bill on tv or in your newspaper? Neither have I. So, let his own words inform you of the intent of this health care bill: "Make no mistake, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is a profoundly progressive bill. As Ezra Klein wrote in the Washington Post, "The bill is the most important social policy achievement since the Great Society."

"To be sure, the path to securing 60 votes was paved with painful compromises. That's also the way our predecessors were able to get the votes to pass Social Security and Medicare, both of which had big gaps in coverage when they were first enacted. They passed bills that were less than a full loaf, and then they came back for more in later years.

"Instead of that "partial loaf" analogy, I like to think of this bill as like a starter home. It is not the mansion of our dreams. But it has a solid foundation, giving every American access to quality, affordable coverage. It has an excellent, protective roof, which will shelter Americans from the worst abuses of health insurance companies. And this starter home has plenty of room for additions and improvements."

It has been said that Harkin declared health care to be an "inalienable right" now - forever. And here I thought that inalienable rights, like those in our Bill of Rights, are only those given by God, for they are by definition incapable of being taken away, given up, or transferred to another. One exception to this rule, we know, is those rights being declared or given away by tyrants. Could Senator Harkin have been any more clear about the intent of Democrats? And I say that we can call Nebraska's exclusion from ever having to pay for Medicare taxes an inalienable right for Nebraskans, given by this proposed health care bill. We are in serious trouble....

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • I know I've written about this before, but it deserves to be repeated: As reported this time by CNS News: A provision deep within the Senate’s 2,000-page health-care overhaul bill would make it impossible, once approved, for the legislation to be repealed or changed by future Congresses -- a provision that a Senate Republican and a conservative analyst say is unconstitutional. On page 1,020, the bill states: “It shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection.” Senator Jim DeMint is challenging the constitutionality of this section, as well as others.

  • http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/01/racial_spoils_in_obamas_americ.html ObamaCare also legislates racial discrimination to such an extent that the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights was compelled to send letters to the president and congressional leaders warning about the "racially discriminatory provisions" in the Senate's health care bill.
  • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) reached out Thursday evening to South Carolina GOP Attorney General Henry McMaster, the leader of a group of 13 Republican state attorneys general who are threatening to file suit against the Senate health care bill, and urged him to forgo any legal action, POLITICO has learned.

According to a copy of a memo sent by McMaster’s chief of staff to other GOP state attorneys general detailing the call, Nelson asked McMaster to “call off the dogs,” a reference to recent threats by the state AGs to file a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a Medicaid provision in the bill that benefits Nebraska at the expense of other states. . . .

The memo, written by McMaster Chief of Staff Trey Walker, explains that Nelson told McMaster that the Medicaid deal had not been his idea, and that the same Medicaid exemption would be extended to other states.

“Senator Nelson insisted that he had not asked for the Cornhusker Kickback to be placed in the U.S. Senate version of the health care bill to secure his vote. Senator Nelson told the attorney general that it was simply a ‘marker’ placed in the U.S. Senate version of the bill and assured the attorney general that it would be ‘fixed,’ says the memo http://patriotroom.com/article/panicked-nelson-backtracks-on-medicare-bribe [Right]

  • http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/74389-pelosi-responds-to-c-span-there-has-never-been-a-more-open-process House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) defended Congress' work on a healthcare bill Tuesday saying the process has displayed historic transparency, just as C-SPAN mounts an effort to open the negotiations. Pelosi also hinted that holding informal negotiations--likely without TV cameras--might be the most practical way to push the legislation through

"We will do what is necessary to pass the bill," Pelosi said.
  • --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Even if Umar Farouq Abdulmuttalab had never boarded that Christmas flight from Amsterdam to Detroit wearing explosive underpants, a passage on page 17 of a report published in July by the inspector general of the Department of Homeland Security would still be eye-popping.

"Not all known or reasonably suspected terrorists are prohibited from boarding an aircraft, or are subject to additional security screening prior to boarding an aircraft," says the passage.

More than eight years after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, people boarding commercial flights in the United States -- and sometimes those boarding international flights bound for the United States -- are still not screened against the government's full Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB).

This is not an oversight. It is a policy. http://townhall.com/columnists/TerryJeffrey/2010/01/06/dhs_decided_it_was_ok_not_to_check_passengers_against_full_terror_watch_list?page=2

  • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Are you aware that our government is set to offer a plea bargain to the underpants bomber?? Now that will probably not deter further terrorists, in my estimation! I do have to wonder what wonderful enticement will be given, so that he will be ready to tell all he knows against his fellow jihadists, don't you?
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Following our President's silence for four days after the underpants bomber's failed attemp to explode an airplane en route to Detroit, we get this news: Meanwhile, the White House was working overtime to build a case against Bush regarding the failed terrorist attack on America. A source in the White House counsel's office told The American Spectator of memos frantically seeking information that would "show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could". http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/6924404/Barack-Obama-is-vulnerable-on-terror---and-he-knows-it.html [Now that's real leadership, isn't it?]
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • A bipartisan group of lawmakers is urging the Obama White House not to go forward with plans to send a number of Yemeni terrorists now being held in the Guantanamo Bay detention facility back to their home country. But the Obama White House insists it will continue to send those Gitmo inmates to Yemen -- a country now recognized as a hotbed of terrorism so dangerous that the U.S. has decided to close its embassy there. "We've had close dialogue with the Yemeni government about the expectations that we have as far as what they're supposed to do when these detainees go back," Brennan said. Washington Examiner, by Byron York

  • As of yesterday, President Obama has declared that we will not be sending Yemen detainees back to Yemen. Perhaps he is learning just what a threat America is facing from jihadist Muslims....This does, however, make more difficult his campaign pledge to close Gitmo. Oh, well - what's one more pledge broken - and this one for good reasons.

  • According to Jim DeMint, he has not put a hold on Erroll Southers for the TSA, but he objected to a request to have Southers confirmed by unanimous consent - that is, without a roll call vote. DeMint wants to discuss the notion of TSA agents being allowed to form a bargaining unit thus taking the safety of our entire air transport system out of the hands of the geniuses who check your hand bags and pack packs, and putting it into the hands of union executives. Total time elapsed between Obama's inaugural and Senate floor action? 303 days. No holds. No filibusters. Just showing how important Obama and the Senate Dems felt this whole thing was, prior to Christmas day.

The elapsed time between DeMint objecting to the unanimous consent request and the attack by the Tighty-Whitey Terrorist? 36 days.

  • Do you remember the story about how many times the Bertha Lewis of ACORN has visited the White House? There is an update from Andrew Brietbart of ACORN videos fame - at http://biggovernment.com/2010/01/04/update-white-house-spokeswoman-says-different-bertha-lewis-on-visitors-log/ According to Politico’s Ben Smith, the Bertha Lewis who went to the White House is not ACORN’s CEO but another woman named “Bertha Lewis.” I contacted Smith to tell him that Big Government would offer a correction if the “administration official” who offered the information went on record and told us who the “other” Bertha Lewis is and got the unnamed administration source to come out from behind the veil of anonymity and use his/her name. So far, according to unnamed White House sources, “different” people with the familiar names of Malik Shabazz, Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers were discovered on White House visitors logs. As I skeptically asked on my Twitter account, “What are the odds?”

First thing Monday morning, Smith contacted the White House and White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki came from behind her anonymous veil and confirmed for Smith, “it was a different Bertha Lewis, though she declined to share details about that visitor, citing privacy reasons.”‘

  • As Lucianne.com posits: Must have been the Bertha Lewis who is president of the Bertha Lewis Society only for people named Bertha Lewis.

    Jihadists, Nancy Pelosi, Immigration

  • President Barack Obama has ordered a "surge" of federal air marshals to be in place by Feb.1 in what officials said was a "race against time," with other suicide bombers believed to be in the terrorist pipeline, although there is no specific imminent threat, federal officials told ABC News. [Seems President Obama has finally figured it out - we can only hope.]
  • -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • As further proof that the mainstream media is in Obama's camp, there is this story from American Thinker: MS-NBC spent much of its Monday prime-time promoting the spurious contention that intelligence agencies may have deliberately allowed the attempted Christmas Day plane bombing to proceed in order to make Obama look bad.

This contemptible idea was floated during the "Countdown" comedy hour when The Sportscaster reported "Breaking News" that White House sources believe the intelligence community's failure to stop the plot "might have been intentional and not accidental." Further, "the information was in some way deliberately withheld from some higher or broader authority to make someone look bad," leaving little doubt that the victim of this new, vast right-wing conspiracy was Obama.

Earlier, fellow Obama sock-puppet Richard Wolffe reported that White House officials said the intelligence debacle was the result of "a failure by individuals who maybe had an alternative agenda."

  • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • http://townhall.com/columnists/BenShapiro/2010/01/06/for_obama,_global_warming_trumps_national_security There is no doubt that the CIA should have done something more to prevent this attack. But, then again, President Obama has been keeping them busy. With global warming. Seriously.

  • According to the New York Times on Jan. 5, just a few days after Obama excoriated the CIA publicly, "The nation's top scientists and spies are collaborating on an effort to use the federal government's intelligence assets -- including spy satellites and other classified sensors -- to assess the hidden complexities of environmental change." This project, the Times reports, "has the strong backing of the director of the Central Intelligence Agency. In the last year, as part of the effort, the collaborators have scrutinized images of Arctic sea ice from reconnaissance satellites in an effort to distinguish things like summer melts from climate trends …"

While missing a potentially catastrophic terror attack is problematic, it's good to know that we've got the inside dossier on the mating habits of polar bears.

Back in 2007, Alikhan, the son of Pakistani immigrants, was instrumental in removing the Muslim terror tracking plan in LA.

These demands included a cessation to the infiltration by spies of mosques and an end to the introduction of agents provocateur. In addition there was to be a cessation of attempts to undermine Muslim groups such as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).

http://biggovernment.com/2010/01/05/exclusive-interview-military-blogger-michael-yon-detained-by-tsa-in-seattle-airport/#more-55762 Award winning war correspondent Michael Yon was detained and handcuffed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Yesterday by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel.

At this point the TSA officials escorted Yon to a designated screening area where they examined the contents of his bag. “Then they asked me how much money I make,” Yon said. Yon suggested to the TSA officials that the question was inappropriate and unrelated to transportation security. The award-winning blogger noted another TSA officer approached Yon: “he asked who do I work for.” ”I did not answer the question which clearly was upsetting to the TSA officers.”

Yon was escorted to a room elsewhere in the airport where he said he remained silent during much of the questioning. According to Yon, “they handcuffed me for failing to cooperate. They said I was impeding their ability to do their job.”

Yon continued, “They said I wasn’t under arrest, but I’m handcuffed. In any other country, that qualifies as an arrest.”

Ultimately Port Authority police released Yon; according to Yon, the police were “completely professional.”

In January of 2009, Yon’s article “Border Bullies” detailed a Homeland Security officer coercing a friend to give up her e-mail password so that he could read private email correspondences between her and Yon. [''You don't professionalize until you federalize'' - Tom Daschle]

Where was Gitmo when they attacked the World Trade Centers in ‘93? Where was Gitmo when they attacked the two U.S. Embassies in Africa? Where was Gitmo when they attacked the USS Cole in ‘98. Where was Gitmo when they attacked the World Trade Centers in ‘01? The fact is that the detention facility was created in the wake of a declaration by Congress in September 2001 that “all necessary and appropriate force” should be used “against those nations, organizations, or persons” [emphasis added] responsible for the attacks of September 11 [That seems to prove that Gitmo is NOT the reason jihadists hate us.... Neither is poverty, as most jihadists are middle class or well-to-do. In point of fact, the recent murder of our 7 CIA agents in the middle east has been said by Al Quaeda to be a direct response to our killings of their civilians via US drones.]

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, piqued with White House pressure to accept the Senate health reform bill, threw a rare rhetorical elbow Tuesday at President Barack Obama, questioning his commitment to his 2008 campaign promises.

A leadership aide said it was no accident.

Pelosi emerged from a meeting with her leadership team and committee chairs in the Capitol to face an aggressive throng of reporters who immediately hit her with C-SPAN’s request that she permit closed-door final talks on the bill to be televised.

A reporter reminded the San Francisco Democrat that in 2008, then-candidate Obama opined that all such negotiations be open to C-SPAN cameras.

There are a number of things he was for on the campaign trail,” quipped Pelosi, who has no intention of making the deliberations public.

Senior House Democratic leadership aides say Pelosi was pointedly referring to Obama’s ’08 pledge not to raise taxes on the middle class, which she interprets to include a tax on so-called Cadillac health care plans that offer lavish benefit packages to many union members.

[And now we learn that we Americans will get ONE hour of time watching their health care bill finagling. Isn't that terrific! They are being oh so open and transparant! Sounds like the perfect amount of time for an infomercial to me.]

More global cooling headlines and stories:

    Midwest bracing for heavy
    snow, wind chills of -50

    Human Events reports:
Dallas had its first “White Christmas” in more than 80 years and Oklahoma City broke a 95-year old record by getting 14 inches of snow -- the previous record was 2.5 inches for that day.

From the Irish National Meteorological Service, Met Éireann, December 2009 was “the coldest December for 28 years over most of the country and the coldest of any month since February 1986 at a few stations.” It’s not just Europe and Asia that are cold: From Columbia, Missouri (January 4, 2010), “If Columbia doesn’t warm up to more than 20 degrees by Wednesday, this winter will make the list of worst cold snaps in Columbia history. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures will stay below 20 degrees through Saturday, which would be the ninth day of temperatures that low. A streak that long hasn’t happened since 1983.”
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/01/what_the_dems_know_universal_v.html In January, Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank will propose universal voter registration. What is universal voter registration? It means all of the state laws on elections will be overridden by a federal mandate. The feds will tell the states: 'take everyone on every list of welfare that you have, take everyone on every list of unemployed you have, take everyone on every list of property owners, take everyone on every list of driver's license holders and register them to vote regardless of whether they want to be ...'

Fund anticipates that Congress will attempt to ram this legislation through, as with the health care bill. What a surprise! Fund covers the vote issue at greater length in his book, How the Obama Administration Threatens to Undermine Our Elections.

From American Thinker blogpost: Clarice Feldman
The blog And So It Goes in Shreveport notes that a petition to recall Senator Mary Landrieu has been accepted for filing by the Louisiana Secretary of State. Citizens have 180 days to file enough signatures to get this on a ballot:On Dec. 29, a recall petition was filed by Ruben Leblanc of New Iberia, for the recall of Mary Landrieu. Sec. of State Jay Darden stated that he WILL accept the filing."

If the story reported by The Dead Pelican this weekend holds true, that she used her vote for Obamacare to bargain for national democratic support for her brother's mayoral campaign, I'd say more than a recall is in order. We're keeping our eyes on that story and will update accordingly.

When he announced he was returning the masterminds of 9/11 to New York City to stand trial as ordinary criminals -- not war criminals -- and thus allow them the benefits from our system of jurisprudence, the mainstream media loved it and the people said it didn't matter.(Oh really? Go ask an FDNY FF, NYPD Cop, NY EMS, NY Port Authority Cop or Transit Worker, or a 9/11 Families member who was at the World Trade Center 9/11/2001 and see if it matters.)

When he finally completed his transformation of America into a Socialist State, people finally woke up, but it was too late.

Any one of these things, in and of themselves does not really matter. But when you add them up one by one you get a phenomenal score that points to the fact that our Obama is determined to make America over into a Marxist/Socialist society. All of the items in the preceding paragraphs have been put into place. All can be documented very easily. Before you disavow this, do an internet search. The last paragraph alone is not yet cast in stone. You and I will write that paragraph. Will it read as above or will it be a more happy ending for most of America ? Personally, I like happy endings.

If you are an Obama Supporter, please recognize that you have elected a president who is a 'socialist'. There is simply no debate about these facts. But you need to seek the truth; you will be richer for it. Don't just belittle the opposition. Search for the truth. I did. Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Constitutionalist, Libertarians and what have you, we all need to pull together. We all must pull together or watch the demise of a society that we all love and cherish. If you are a religious person, pray for our nation.

Never before in the history of America have we been confronted with problems so huge that the very existence of our country is in jeopardy. Don't rely on most television news and what you read in the newspapers for the truth. Search the internet. Yes, there is a lot of bad information, lies and distortions there as well, but you are smart enough to spot the fallacies. Newspapers are a dying breed. They are currently seeking a bailout from the government. Do you really think they are about to print the truth? Obama praises all the television news networks except Fox who he is currently waging an open war against. There must be a reason. He does not call them down on any specifics, and he has failed to refute any facts presented – because it is all true. If they lie, he should call them out on it but he doesn't. Please, find the truth, it will set you free.

Our biggest enemy is not China, Russia or Iran; no, our biggest enemy is the current contingent of politicians in Washington DC led by the Progressive Left Liberals who support the previously mentioned things.

Wake Up America! There's still time in 2010 to take back America and send a message LOUD and CLEAR to those who think "it doesn't matter."

I happen to think "it does matter."

    Obama Appointees

In a video address released just hours ago, President Obama for the first time publicly posits a link between the Christmas Day bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.“We know that [Abdulmutallab] travelled to Yemen, a country grappling with crushing poverty and deadly insurgencies,” Obama says. “It appears that he joined an affiliate of al-Qaeda, http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=OGZkMjA0YzZiNjhmNWVmNDUyYWU0NzZhNjZhYjRiYTQ=

[I would ask: is he trying to say that George Bush, or the nasty United States of America caused this crushing poverty? Is he intimating that if it were not for our greedy Capitalism, and if only we would send trillions of dollars of our money to their corrupt leaders, Yemen would be a lovely place? Or should he be saying that without Capitalism, there is yet one more country where the dictators who control the county are fomenting the crippling poverty in order to feed their own greedy needs?] [Yes, of course, as follows, he at least mentions the word war and defeat, but does blame Bush]

Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred, and that we will do whatever it takes to defeat them and defend our country,” Obama says.

The video also contains thinly-veiled criticism of the counter-terror strategy of George W. Bush. Obama says that the current administration has refocused the fight against al-Qaeda on Afghanistan and Pakistan, while bringing to a responsible end the war in Iraq, which had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.”

Speaking broadly once more, Obama says that this strategy has reaped benefits, thwarting unspecified terrorist plots on U.S. soil and saving “countless American lives.

[Didn't we just narrowly escape a terrible plane explosion because our security has been compromised since Obama's inauguration? Didn't he appoint an inexperienced woman as Homeland Security Chief, who has declared our military veterans and Tea Party protesters as possible terrorists? She who actually declared, in her total ignorance, that the system worked? Hasn't he released from Gitmo some detainees, right back to Yemen, where they are plotting against us again? Isn't he ready to close Gitmo, and to try Muhammed in a NYC court of law? Hasn't he had the Miranda rights read to this terrorist, to be tried in a civilian court? Do you feel comforted and secure? George Bush was thoroughly condemned because he had been in office for over 7 months before 9/11 and failed to stop the plot. Obama has been in office for 11 months, was given (three days prior to this incident) a "shout-out" about an unspecified Christmas Day plot against America, had been warned by the father of the perp, and still failed to secure our nation. Where is the outrage at his continued ineptitude, exacerbated by his unwillingness to disrespect his own once-stated Muslim faith as a faith that believes in the death of ALL infidels? And just when will he grow up, be a man, and stop blaming his predecessor? It is he who is now our President, and it is his and his appointees' directives and agenda which are being followed.]

  • The White House nominee to lead the Transportation Security Administration gave Congress misleading information about incidents in which he inappropriately accessed a federal database, possibly in violation of privacy laws, documents obtained by The Washington Post show. The disclosure comes as pressure builds from Democrats on Capitol Hill for quick January confirmation of Erroll Southers, whose nomination has been held up by GOP opponents. (Snip) Southers, a former FBI agent, has described inconsistencies..... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/31/AR2009123102257.html?hpid=topnews

  • Acknowledging he has given inconsistent answers to Congress, President Barack Obama's pick to lead the Transportation Security Administration wrote to lawmakers to explain a reprimand he received for running background checks on his then-estranged wife's boyfriend two decades ago.

In an October affidavit for the Senate committee, he initially said he asked a San Diego police employee to run a background check on his then-estranged wife's boyfriend and was censured by his FBI superiors 20 years ago for what he said was an isolated instance.

But a day after the committee approved his nomination and sent it to the full Senate, he wrote to the senators and told them that he was incorrect, that he twice ran background checks himself.

In the letter correcting the record, Southers also said he downloaded law enforcement records and shared them. He said he forgot the incident in 1987 or 1988. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20100101/D9CUQQB01.html

A controversial Obama administration nominee has withdrawn his candidacy for “personal reasons,” White House spokesman Tommy Vietor confirmed.

Jide Zeitlin, a former Goldman Sachs banker who was to be America’s financial point man at the United Nations, faced character questions amid allegations of identity fraud and improper business practices. One of his India-based firms is being sued in a New Dehli court for failing to pay $2.4 million to a client, The Washington Post reported in November.

He responded to the criticism by telling a November hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee “no one bats a thousand,” the newspaper said.

Zeitlin’s withdrawal was first reported by a Foreign Policy magazine blog. [Once again, our press is unwilling to give us the news...]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • The attempted bombing of an American passenger plane on Christmas Day could greatly complicate President Obama’s efforts to close the detention center at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, as lawmakers in both parties call on the administration to rethink its approach. But evidence that Al Qaeda’s branch in Yemen was behind last week’s failed plane attack will make closing the center even harder since nearly half the remaining detainees are from Yemen.

  • Though the CIA and an agency under the Director of National Intelligence have been under particular scrutiny in the preliminary review of possible missteps, Napolitano so far has taken the most heat from lawmakers. Not only does her department oversee the Transportation Security Administration, but her initial claim Sunday that "the system worked" was widely ridiculed and interpreted by critics as a sign that she's in over her head.Regarding the charges being dropped against the Blackwater guards: The issue was that the guards, as government contractors, were obligated to give an immediate report of what they had done, but the Constitution prevents the government from requiring a defendant to testify against himself, so those statements could not be used in a prosecution.

  • Some Republicans, who've taken issue with her in the past for calling terrorist acts "man-caused disasters" and other remarks, started calling for her ouster in the spring. The failed bombing on Christmas Day revived those calls.

Now Democrats have joined the chorus.

Terrorism, Our "Dumbed Down" Population, and Ten Most Corrupt Politicians

Stay warm and cozy while you celebrate a Happy New Year! May all your dreams come true.

    -----------------------------------------------
    F
rom the UK Telegrapy: There is no more solemn duty for an American commander-in-chief than the marshalling of “all elements of American power” – the phrase Obama himself used on Monday – to protect the people of the United States. In that key respect, Obama failed on Christmas Day, just as President George W. Bush failed on September 11th (though he succeeded in the seven years after that).

Yes, the buck stops in the Oval Office. Obama may have rather smugly given himself a “B+” for his 2009 performance but he gets an F for the events that led to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarding a Detroit-bound plane in Amsterdam with a PETN bomb sewn into his underpants. He said today that a “systemic failure has occurred”. Well, he’s in charge of that system.

The picture we’re getting is more and more alarming by the hour. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/tobyharnden/100020934/barack-obama-gets-an-f-for-protecting-americans/
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Ann Coulter has opined: In response to a Nigerian Muslim trying to blow up a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day, the government will now prohibit international travelers from going to the bathroom in the last hour before the plane lands. Terrorists who plan to bomb planes during the first seven hours of the eight-hour flight, however, should face no difficulties, provided they wait until after the complimentary beverage service has been concluded.

In addition to the no blanket, no computer, no bathroom rule, perhaps the airlines could add this to their preflight announcement about seat belts and emergency exits: "Should a passenger sitting near you attempt to detonate an explosive device, you may be called upon to render emergency assistance. Would you be willing to do so under those circumstances? If not we will assign you another seat ..."
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    O
bama is the first president to give an international law enforcement organization like Interpol free rein within the territorial confines of this nation, presumably not excluding the arrest and exportation of Americans to be charged with crimes under international law.

Put simply, this means the Constitution is no longer the supreme law of the land in America. Thanks to Executive Order 12425 , which Obama signed Dec. 16 without explaining why, the supreme law of the land is now arguably whatever Interpol says it is, most likely as directed by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, in conjunction with the United Nations.

There's also this observation by National Review's Andy McCarthy: "Being constrained by the Fourth Amendment, Freedom of Information Act, and other limitations of the Constitution and federal law that protect the liberty and privacy of Americans is what prevents law enforcement and its controlling government authority from becoming tyrannical." Executive Order 12425 circumvents all of that.

So tell us, Mr. President, why do you think Interpol should operate with no accountability and no transparency in our country? Is this what you had in mind in your 2008 presidential campaign when you said "we've got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the U.S. military?

Pentagon generals and admirals answer to the president and Congress. Under Obama, Interpol answers to no American. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/What-is-Barack-Obama-doing_-8700165-80341107.html

[We can only hope that one blogger's remarks are valid: No executive order can supersede the Constitution, since all powers the executive branch has come *from* the Constitution. If Obama destroys the Constitution, he destroys any legitimate claim to power he may have.]

From an email making the circuit: Even if each detail isn't exactly correct (and I'm not saying it isn't), the gist of this is oh, so true! So - just why do some of us actually trust the government to run our health care system? As I wrote earlier, the Congress even ran their cafeteria into bankruptcy! I would add that our Department of Education has failed to educate an ever increasing number of students. They choose to not embrace their education, and then cannot fully participate in our great system of American Capitalism!

    • The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775 You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.

    • The Mayo Clinic, praised by President Barack Obama as a national model for efficient health care, will stop accepting Medicare patients as of tomorrow at one of its primary-care clinics in Arizona, saying the U.S. government pays too little.

More than 3,000 patients eligible for Medicare, the government’s largest health-insurance program, will be forced to pay cash if they want to continue seeing their doctors at a Mayo family clinic in Glendale, northwest of Phoenix, said Michael Yardley, a Mayo spokesman. The decision, which Yardley called a two-year pilot project, won’t affect other Mayo facilities in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota.

Obama in June cited the nonprofit Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio for offering “the highest quality care at costs well below the national norm.” Mayo’s move to drop Medicare patients may be copied by family doctors, some of whom have stopped accepting new patients from the program, said Lori Heim, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, in a telephone interview yesterday.
