Census Bureau Drops Acorn Input

Fishing for Information:

The US Census Bureau on Friday severed all ties with controversial community organizing group ACORN. The reason? The bureau said ACORN's conduct and sour public image threatened to taint the bureau's execution of the 2010 census.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dozens of states have charged ACORN employees with voter registration fraud, numerous corporations have paid exorbitant sums of hush money to get the group to call off its demonstrators crying racism, and media organizations have exposed serious questions about how the radical group has spent the hundreds of millions of federal tax dollars it has received over the years. And now we have videos from three major city ACORN offices who have coached citizens on how to game the government, declaring their prostitution business as "performance artists" and underage illegal sex slaves as "dependents" Yet ACORN continues to do business without being investigated, and continues to receive hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funding....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, you wondered how long it would take an Obama Justice Department to get around to the business of sending government lawyers out to comb the countryside to look for racism (loosely defined) and fill the court system with lawsuits. And here we go.

WASHINGTON — Seven months after taking office, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. is reshaping the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division by pushing it back into some of the most important areas of American political life, including voting rights, housing, employment, bank lending practices and redistricting after the 2010 census.

As part of this shift, the Obama administration is planning a major revival of high-impact civil rights enforcement against policies, in areas ranging from housing to hiring, where statistics show that minorities fare disproportionately poorly. President George W. Bush’s appointees had discouraged such tactics, preferring to focus on individual cases in which there is evidence of intentional discrimination.

In other words, they'll be flooding the courts with cases against business policies and practices, based on statistics (with are NEVER manipulated) instead of focusing on real instances of discrimination.

Health Care for 2013

Concerning the National Endowment for the Arts....Patrick Courrielche: I was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to take part in a conference call that invited a group of rising artist and art community luminaries “to help lay a new foundation for growth, focusing on core areas of the recovery agenda – health care, energy and environment, safety and security, education, community renewal.” I was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts to attend a conference call scheduled for Monday August 10th hosted by the NEA, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and United We Serve. The call would include “a group of artists, producers, promoters, organizers, influencers, marketers, taste-makers, leaders or just plain cool people to join together and work together to promote a more civically engaged America and celebrate how the arts can be used for a positive change!” Backed by the full weight of President Barack Obama’s call to service and the institutional weight of the NEA, the conference call was billed as an opportunity for those in the art community to inspire service in four key categories, and at the top of the list were “health care” and “energy and environment.” The service was to be attached to the President’s United We Serve campaign, a nationwide federal initiative to make service a way of life for all Americans.

The people running the conference call and rallying the group to get active on these issues were Yosi Sergant, the Director of Communications for the National Endowment for the Arts; Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement; Nell Abernathy, Director of Outreach for United We Serve; Thomas Bates, Vice President of Civic Engagement for Rock the Vote; and Michael Skolnik, Political Director for Russell Simmons.

We were encouraged to bring the same sense of enthusiasm to these “focus areas” as we had brought to Obama’s presidential campaign, and we were encouraged to create art and art initiatives that brought awareness to these issues. Throughout the conversation, we were reminded of our ability as artists and art professionals to “shape the lives” of those around us. The now famous Obama “Hope” poster, created by artist Shepard Fairey and promoted by many of those on the phone call, and william’s “Yes We Can” song and music video were presented as shining examples of our group’s clear role in the election.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The New York Post reports that "the federal government needs to hire more than 270,000 workers for "mission-critical" jobs over the next three years, a surge prompted in part by the large number of baby-boomer federal workers reaching retirement age, according to the results of a government-wide survey being released Thursday. The numbers also reflect the Obama administration's intent to take on several enormous challenges, including the repair of the financial sector, fighting two wars, and addressing climate change".

Well, this is indeed a jobs program for Obama.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One plain fact should outweigh all the words of Barack Obama and all the impressive trappings of the setting in which he says them: He tried to rush Congress into passing a massive government takeover of the nation's medical care before the August recess-- for a program that would not take effect until 2013! In his speech to the American public, he noted: "The time for bickering is over," Obama said to sustained applause before a joint session of Congress. "The time for games has passed." Obama called the tumultuous summer, during which a growing number of people questioned his ability to handle the health care issue, "a partisan spectacle" fueled by "bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost." If you misrepresent what's in the plan, we will call you out. [It's so nice to have a President who threatens to come after his adversaries, but refuses to address the misrepresentations in his pontifications. He must feel that if he lies and misrepresents often enough, at least those who adore him will believe].
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
Barack Obama will cement the new co-operative relationship between the US and the United Nations this month when he becomes the first American president to chair its 15-member Security Council. [You say you haven't heard this? It begs us to figure out what this might mean or portend.....]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miami -Arrest warrants have been issued in Miami for 11 people suspected of falsifying information on hundreds of voter registration cards last year. The FBI and state authorities were making arrests Wednesday. The workers being sought were hired to register voters by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. Prosecutors say they were first notified by ACORN about problems with workers in June. Several ACORN members in Baltimore were fired after explaining to a pimp and a prostitute on how they can game the system, even going so far as to advise listing 13 underage sex slaves from a foreign country as being their dependents..
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility has begun an official inquiry into the dismissal in May of a civil complaint against the New Black Panther Party and two of its members who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place during the November general elections.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sample of speech-watchers in the after-Obama's-speech poll was 45 percent Democratic and 18 percent Republican. And we wonder why the poll says Americans, following Obama's speech, favor government health care by a wide margin???
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As reported in the American Spectator on Aug. 24, Mr. Yearwood explained that the administration wants to take Sept. 11 back from the right. The minister and others kept saying that they wanted Sept. 11 to be used for something "positive," "forward-leaning" and "productive," a confidential source who listened to the call told me.

Their plan is to convert what the left considers a "day of fear" that helps Republicans into a day of activism that helps the left, the source said. "They think it needs to be taken back from the right," the source said. "They're taking that day, and they're breaking it because it gives Republicans an advantage." [I guess Obama really doesn't believe his own words that he will bring bipartisanship and civility to our country....]

The Power of a President to Fundamentally Change America

This is from the American Thinker: Could a form of martial law be imminent? Obama appears ready to cross the Rubicon, and all he needs is a killer virus. Remember President Obama’s Executive Order basing 80,000 active troops at home for the first time in the history of the peacetime military establishment to “help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack….”

Now connect that information to the recent announcement that the military has established regional deployment locations all across the United States to “assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.”
The National Guard is even practicing mock takeovers of public schools in the event of an “H1N1 riot,” a description that elicits mixed responses. What kind of riot could arise out of a flu that has only killed 1,000 worldwide? Washington certainly seems to be looking for some rationale for enhanced domestic military involvement, whether credible or not.
With impeccable timing, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has gone before Congress asking for the unprecedented authority to base 400,000 soldiers in communities all across the United States.
Thousands of doctors have voiced strong opposition to the proposed swine flu vaccine, due to its association with neurological disorders. No matter, a bill before the Massachusetts State Senate would permit authorities to enter homes and detain without warrant citizens who do not agree to be forcibly vaccinated. Iowa just released a new Orwellian quarantine policy directive that states in the event of a swine flu outbreak, “your home and other less restrictive alternatives are not acceptable.” These moves appear to be the result of federal incentives advancing mandatory vaccination.

All of this would be less of a concern if we had a President with less radical beliefs, one who has not promised a "fundamental change" in America. I would ask why it is not the National Guard who is being trained for these actions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obama has repeatedly implied the need to “break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution….” by saying: "The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of basic issues of political and economic justice in this society, and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as it has been interpreted.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Obama Justice Department has now announced that they will be in the business of sending government lawyers out to comb the countryside to look for racism (loosely defined) and fill the court system with lawsuits.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr., in an interview with the New York Times, said that 50 more attorneys were being hired for the division and that it would now aggressively pursue “high-impact civil rights” cases in such areas as voting rights, housing, employment, bank lending practices and redistricting after the 2010 Census.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The President of the United States is now thinking that it will be good policy to shut down all personal computers in the event of an "emergency". Bruce Henderson says of Jay Rockerfeller's Bill S773 that is "makes no attempt to outline and describe what form of emergency would trigger the use of these broad new powers to limit communication, nor any means by which it could be reviewed by anyone outside the executive branch. The bill also proscribes that the executive branch will perform periodic mapping" of private networks deemed to be critical, and those companies "shall share" requested information with the federal government.

From CBS News, regarding the Obama Congress's proposed bill to shut down private internet if our President declares a state of emergency (doesn't he do that every week or month?) "Translation: the U.S. government bureaucracy will be spending your tax dollars to figure out private networks, find choke points and places where they can control the flow of communication. Furthermore, companies (such as your ISP) are going to be required, by law, to supply the federal bureaucrats with whatever network, account, usage and history information they deem appropriate. All in the name of cyber safety, you see.

If that were not enough of an outrage, the bill also establishes federal indoctrination and certification for cyber security professionals. It would require companies that the executive branch deemed "critical" to adopt restrictions on who it could hire to work with network security to a limited pool of those who had undergone government training and certification. You might assume from this that the private sector was completely lacking in any certification or training in cyber security. In fact there is a robust and growing business (aka a "free market") for this type of training that the government would now control and regulate".
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part of Obama's speech to our school children is the following: "Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn". It really is all about him, isn't it? He uses the word "I" 56 times!

More Big Government

School Districts in Six States to Refrain from
Showing Presidential Address Next Week

ABC News, by Jake Tapper & Karen Travers

As Michelle Malkin stated:

This is why informed parents do not trust the Educator-in-Chief and his "comrades." You can take Obama from the radicals in Chicago. But you can't take the Chicago radicalism out of Obama.

Ken Klukowski writes about a school system in New Hampshire, where "a home-schooling mother has been ordered to put her daughter in public school because the daughter is too outspoken in her Christian beliefs, a terrifying truth emerges: If you can force a child into government schools, you can control that child’s mind.

Why? Because the court order expresses the judge’s concern that the daughter shares “her mother’s rigidity on questions of faith.” In other words, the girl is a devout, evangelical Christian. The court wrote that she must be exposed to “multiple systems of belief,” and so must attend a secular school."

[Our President has backed down now from asking students to write about what they can each to to "help" our President. That's a demonstration of his empty suit status, as far as I am concerned. Either that or it is a demonstration of his true agenda. And, showing once again the lack of leadership our President has in his resume, it has recently come to light that some of the largest school systems in the country (those whom Obama should be targeting with his message) will not even be open yet when the big speech day arrives: Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and Seattle among them]..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Powerline nicely summarizes the problems with (now former) Obama Administration official Van Jones: Who do they have in the White House? A self-proclaimed Communist. A vulgar Marxist twice over. A supporter of cold-blooded cop killer Mumia Abu Jamal. A 9/11 Truther . A racist hater, whose hatred extends to the United States. And insofar as his current job is concerned, we have a man who sees the "green jobs" con as a tool for for overthrowing capitalism. We have, in short, the complete left-wing nightmare package.
Top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett has said, "So, Van Jones, we were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House; we were watching him. . .for as long as he's been active out there.
Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., the first lawmaker to call for Jones' resignation, is asking Obama to
"suspend the appointment of additional ''czars'' until Congress has a chance to examine the background and responsibilities of such individuals, as well as determine the constitutionality of such appointments.

Now that Jones is out of the way, Republicans are turning their fire on czars in general.

Sen. Lamar Alexander, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, called the czars "an affront to the Constitution" since they are not approved by Congress.

As David Sirota of Salon wrote: This is a serious tragedy for the progressive movement on three levels. First and foremost, Jones was one of the only movement progressives in a policymaking position in the Obama White House. By that I mean, he was one of the only people in the White House who came out of grassroots movement work and not just political/partisan hack work, and one of the only movement progressives put in a policymaking job, and not ghettoized into a political/tactical job. Whenever I got sick to my stomach at the thought of Obama's Team of Corporate Zombies - people like Rahm Emanuel, Tim Geithner, Larry Summers and Jim Messina - running the show, I was able to at least tell myself that hey, someone like Van Jones is at least in there somewhere fighting the good fight as he always has. No more - and that's a damn shame."

[Once again President Obama has been forced to give up part of his radical agenda, espoused by himself, his appointees, and his Czars. Van Jones has resigned.... but not his agenda, I am certain.]

Well, this is indeed a jobs program for Obama.
As is the fact that the first item on the Senate agenda when they return is a bill to create a new and unnecessary government tourism advertising agency.

Keep Your Child Home From School Next Tuesday?

Not only is Congress coming off a telling poll that reported 57% of Americans would vote ALL of Congress out, while only 25% would keep them -- President Obama is suffering as well. His latest Presidential tracking poll has him at 46% approval, by far his lowest ever. America wanted change, but it's safe to say America didn't think the change it voted for included Marxism. Check out the POLL.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to think that our President is only wanting to aid otherwise uninterested students in making them actually want an education. If this is the case, I'll give kudos to Barack Obama. We all want all students to work hard to achieve. So, why can't Barack Obama talk to our children on evening tv, when parents can monitor the speech? And why will he be asking them, perhaps, to promote his liberal agenda? As you can see in the following, Obama has the opportunity to create little minds full of Obama mush... It bears careful watching....... and questions of your children if they DO go to school that day - plus a reeducation....

The Sayings Of Chairman Barack

Photo of Mark Finkelstein.

Great news. Our leader will be addressing all schoolchildren on September 8th. And the Department of Education has helpfully prepared a menu of activities for the day. As you'll note above, 7-12th graders are to view quotations from Pres. Obama, discuss them, and strive to understand what "the president believes is important" for students to be successful in school.

Wonderful. But why stop with students? Shouldn't Americans of all ages have the benefit of the President's wisdom? And why limit it to one day, and only to the topic of education?

Say, here's an idea. Pres. Obama's quotations on a variety of topics could be assembled in a small book, and every citizen given one--free of course--by the government. Citizens would then be encouraged to meet and discuss "what can we infer the President believes is important" in every aspect of life.

Naturally, those citizens who improperly interpret "what the president believes is important" will be given additional educational opportunities to learn and reflect on his message. They will be housed in special government schools for people of all ages, to be set up across the country in quiet, rural areas, free from the stress of everyday life that can cloud clear thinking.

These schools will also be free, and staffed by special teachers, members of course of our wonderful labor unions, who correctly understand the president's message and will be sure to imbue every student with correct thinking in the wisdom of the president before he or she is freed, um, graduates.

Will our MSM report on the interesting parallel between our president's plan for our children and the approach of another Great Leader from the past?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And from Michelle Malkin: 'ABC'' stands for All Barack's Children. On Sept. 8, young students across the country will be watching television. Yes, they'll be parked in front of boob tubes and computer screens watching President Obama's address on education. (Snip) And last year's presidential campaign saw disgraceful abuses of power by pro-Obama instructors. In New Rochelle, N.Y., elementary students were given an in-class assignment to color in drawings of Obama -- including a picture of a campaign button featuring his face and the slogan "Students for Obama 2008." In Cumberland County, N.C., a fifth-grade teacher turned a "civics" discussion into an unhinged harangue against a girl who said her family supported John McCain.

The students will be asked to write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One more Obama plan has come to light recently by Patrick Courrielche . The National Endowment For The Arts, supported with millions of taxpayer dollars, is asking, via a White House phone conference, to produce art that pushes the Obama agenda - as the "Hope" poster did. They are asked to help lay a new foundation for growth, focusing on core areas of the recovery agenda - health care, energy and environment, safety and security, education, community renewal.” the conference call was billed as an opportunity for those in the art community to inspire service in four key categories, and at the top of the list were “health care” and “energy and environment.” The service was to be attached to the President’s United We Serve campaign, a nationwide federal initiative to make service a way of life for all Americans.

And if you think that my fear regarding the arts becoming a tool of the state is still unfounded, I leave you with a few statements made by the NEA to the art community participants on the conference call. “This is just the beginning. This is the first telephone call of a brand new conversation. We are just now learning how to really bring this community together to speak with the government. What that looks like legally?…bare with us as we learn the language so that we can speak to each other safely… “

Is the hair on your arms standing up yet?

They've Found Another New Way To Tax Us!

From Fox News: After the federal government put up hundreds of billions of
dollars to bail out Wall Street, the largest labor union in America wants those
firms to return the favor. The AFL-CIO reportedly is promoting a proposal to
tax every single stock transaction, and it's gained some support among
Democrats.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding the health care overhaul: The Conservative Outpost reports that: The Mayo Clinic, which Obama cites as a model for cost-cutting measures, called the Medicare payment model proposed by Congress a “catastrophe.”

Seven state medical associations banded together with private medical societies and two previous American Medical Association presidents in a letter to the President opposing the legislation. The American Hospital Association is imploring hospital directors to counter Congress’s bill, as are specialty associations such as the American College of Physicians.

[Are you aware of the fact that only about 17% of our nation's doctors actually belong to the American Medical Association?]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, if you go to mybarackobama.com, you will see that Barack's campaign group Organizing For America is pushing for September 11 to be that day that they "fight back against our own right wing domestic terrorists" (who are whipped into a frenzy by Fox News)---- in order to pass the public auction for health care reform!

And the late Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn put his finger on the problem when he said: "The timid civilized world has found nothing with which to oppose the onslaught of a sudden revival of barefaced barbarity, other than concessions and smiles." [The times they are a changing, it appears.]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Concerning all the czars appointed by Barack Obama: their salaries are paid by the U.S. taxpayers, they are not scrutinized or confirmed by the Senate, yet they appear to have the authority to override those who are confirmed. Lack of Senate confirmation means we must rely on people such as Glenn Beck to discover that the green jobs czar, Van Jones, is or was a communist and a self-described "rowdy black nationalist."

Says Glenn: "so far, Obama has appointed 34 czars. Just listing them is enough to scare anyone who believes in constitutional and representative government: Afghanistan czar, aids czar, border czar, car czar, climate czar, copyright czar, cyberspace czar, drug czar, economic czar, education czar, energy czar, executive pay czar, faith-based czar, Great Lakes czar, green jobs czar, Guantanamo closure czar, health reform czar, infotech czar, intelligence czar, Iran czar, Middle East peace czar, non-proliferation czar, Persian Gulf/Southeast Asia czar, regulatory czar, science czar, stimulus accountability czar, Sudan czar, TARP czar, terrorism czar, urban czar, war czar, and WMD and terrorism czar".

Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., has introduced the Czar Accountability and Reform Act to cut off the salaries of these czars (estimated at $172,000 plus their staffs of 10-plus people). It's unlikely that the Democratic Congress will let this bill see the light of day.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Post Editorial: Has he no shame? Of course not. He's Charlie Rangel, head of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee -- who can't be bothered to tend to his own tax returns, but now intends to punish ordinary folks for making arguably minor mistakes on their forms. The Post's Charles Hurt reported yesterday that Rangel's committee seeks to reduce legal defenses and increase fines and penalties on taxpayers undergoing IRS scrutiny.

The Washington Post editorializes: His belated revelation of previously unreported income, property and bank accounts demands that he step aside as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Mr. Rangel's amended financial disclosure form, which exposes omissions from his 2002 through 2006 records, is a treasure trove of outrage. He neglected to report a checking account with the Congressional Federal Credit Union and one with Merrill Lynch, each valued between $250,000 and $500,000; the tens of thousands of dollars he's earning from dividends from a number of mutual funds and stocks; and the money made from the sale of a Harlem townhouse. We called on Mr. Rangel to resign his coveted post last November while the House ethics committee probed his contact with a potential donor to a pet project who also had business before the committee. Mind you, that committee already was looking into his using official stationery to raise funds for that pet project, paying below-market rents on four Harlem apartments, failing to report income from a Florida condominium sale and failing to pay taxes on a home in the Dominican Republic. There's another subcommittee investigation into lobbyist-paid trips by Mr. Rangel and four other members of Congress.

I believe that a bill needs to be introduced which assures that not just Rangel, but every single taxpayer who makes a mistake on his returns should be treated just as Rangel, who heads the committee which determines IRS policies. Rangel is a tax cheat of major proportions, and yet there is no meaningful investigation leading to punishment.

Now comes word from the New York Post that "Charlie Rangel's "forgetfulness" is apparently contagious. Two of his top aides are among about a dozen highly paid staffers on the powerful tax-writing Ways and Means Committee who have filed a flurry of amendments correcting their financial-disclosure statements since 2002. Jim Capel, chief of staff for Rangel's personal office, failed to file any such statements for six years".

A "pandemic response bill" currently making its way through the Massachusetts state legislature would allow authorities to forcefully quarantine citizens in the event of a health emergency, compel health providers to vaccinate

citizens, authorize forceful entry into private dwellings and destruction of citizen property and impose fines on citizens for noncompliance.

If citizens refuse to comply with isolation or quarantine orders in the event of a health emergency, they may be imprisoned for up to 30 days and fined $1,000 per day that the violation continues.

Massachusetts' pandemic response bill

"Pandemic Response Bill" 2028 was passed by the Massachusetts state Senate on April 28 and is now awaiting approval in the House.

As stated in the bill, upon declaration by the governor that an emergency exists that is considered detrimental to public health or upon declaration of a state of emergency, a local public health authority, with approval of the commissioner, may exercise the following authorities (emphasis added):

  • to require the owner or occupier of premises to permit entry into and investigation of the premises;
  • to close, direct, and compel the evacuation of, or to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated any building or facility, and to allow the reopening of the building or facility when the danger has ended;
  • to decontaminate or cause to be decontaminated, or to destroy any material;
  • to restrict or prohibit assemblages of persons;
  • to require a health care facility to provide services or the use of its facility, or to transfer the management and supervision of the health care facility to the department or to a local public health authority;
  • to control ingress to and egress from any stricken or threatened public area, and the movement of persons and materials within the area;
  • to adopt and enforce measures to provide for the safe disposal of infectious waste and human remains, provided that religious, cultural, family, and individual beliefs of the deceased person shall be followed to the extent possible when disposing of human remains, whenever that may be done without endangering the public health;
  • to procure, take immediate possession from any source, store, or distribute any anti-toxins, serums, vaccines, immunizing agents, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical agents or medical supplies located within the commonwealth as may be necessary to respond to the emergency;
  • to require in-state health care providers to assist in the performance of vaccination, treatment, examination, or testing of any individual as a condition of licensure, authorization, or the ability to continue to function as a health care provider in the commonwealth;
  • to waive the commonwealth's licensing requirements for health care professionals with a valid license from another state in the United States or whose professional training would otherwise qualify them for an appropriate professional license in the commonwealth;
  • to allow for the dispensing of controlled substance by appropriate personnel consistent with federal statutes as necessary for the prevention or treatment of illness;
  • to authorize the chief medical examiner to appoint and prescribe the duties of such emergency assistant medical examiners as may be required for the proper performance of the duties of office;
  • to collect specimens and perform tests on any animal, living or deceased;
  • to exercise authority under sections 95 and 96 of chapter 111;
  • to care for any emerging mental health or crisis counseling needs that individuals may exhibit, with the consent of the individuals

State and local agencies responding to the public health emergency would be required to exercise their powers over transportation routes, communication devices, carriers, public utilities, fuels, food, clothing and shelter, according to the legislation.

NEWS FLASH!

As Joe Lupino said, regarding Obama's "speech" to K-12 students in their classrooms next Tuesday, "rather than doing for country, Obama now asks elementary school kids and younger to do for him instead.

The only thing missing from these suggestions were the deity-worthy capitalization of pronouns referring to Obama."

[Obama, by the way, is asking for students to study HIM instead of our history, Constitution or Bill of Rights, etc., prior to the broadcast].

OH! The Washington Times this morning reports that:

The Obama administration late Wednesday withdrew a recommendation that school children who watch a video featuring President Obama next week write about how they might "help the president" as part of a classroom assignment. The decision came after conservative critics attacked the plan by federal education officials that teachers supplement the speech with a special curriculum that was designed in concert with the White House.

A Kennedy Secret, Charlie Rangel, and our National Day of Service.....

Tim Sebastian, a reporter for the London Times, came across an arresting memorandum at the time that Boris Yeltsin opened Soviet archives. Kennedy's message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. "The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations," the memorandum stated. "These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign."

From Forbes.com: Kennedy made Andropov a couple of specific offers in 1983.

First he offered to visit Moscow. "The main purpose of the meeting, according to the senator, would be to arm Soviet officials with explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they may be better prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA." Kennedy would help the Soviets deal with Reagan by telling them how to brush up their propaganda.

Then he offered to make it possible for Andropov to sit down for a few interviews on American television. "A direct appeal ... to the American people will, without a doubt, attract a great deal of attention and interest in the country. ... If the proposal is recognized as worthy, then Kennedy and his friends will bring about suitable steps to have representatives of the largest television companies in the USA contact Y.V. Andropov for an invitation to Moscow for the interviews. ... The senator underlined the importance that this initiative should be seen as coming from the American side."

The New York Post reports that: Rep. Charlie Rangel's multimillion-dollar "oops" this month raises plenty of good questions, but this may be the best: How can Democrats continue to close their eyes to such sleaze?

And, more to the point, this: Will prose cutors follow up on any of it?

Rangel's "corrections" to his financial-disclosure statements from 2002 through 2007 are stunning, even by the low standards of this "error"-prone paperwork-filer -- who, by the way, happens to be in charge of writing the nation's tax laws.

The Harlem Dem now admits that he failed to disclose several million dollars in income and business deals during those years -- including up to $1 million from the sale of a building on 132nd Street.

How could that happen?

Charlie won't say.

Even stranger, city records show that Rangel still owns the building.

How can that be, if Rangel sold it, as he now claims? Maybe the records are wrong, but Charlie's not talking.

From American Spectator: Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), the revolutionary group formed by self-described "communist" and "rowdy black nationalist" Van Jones, held a vigil in Oakland, California, "mourning the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world" on the night after Sept. 11, 2001.

The reason this is important is because Van Jones is now President Obama's green jobs czar. He does not appear to have distanced himself from his past communist activities and is now part of the Obama administration's push to turn Sept. 11 into a National Day of Service focused on the promotion of the radical environmentalist agenda.

As Matthew Vadum wrote last week, "about 60 groups including those associated with Yearwood and Van Jones, are planning to help the Obama administration greenwash the meaning of 9/11. They want to turn each Sept. 11 into a National Day of Service focused on the importance of bicycle paths, ethanol, carbon emission controls, putting solar panels on your roof, and radical community organizing. It has nothing to do with healing the nation and everything to do with easing the nation along in the ongoing radical transformation of America that President Obama promised during last year's election campaign"

Reaping What We've Sown

From Michelle Malkin: "Last week, The Washington Post reported on a new Justice Department inquiry into photographs of undercover CIA officials and other intelligence personnel taken by ACLU-sponsored researchers assisting the defense team of Guantanamo Bay detainees. According to the report, the pictures of covert American CIA officers -- "in some cases surreptitiously taken outside their homes" -- were shown to jihadi suspects tied to the 9/11 attacks in order to identify the interrogators".

Excuse me, but didn't several people get into deep doo doo for "outing" Valerie Plame, who was not actually a CIA agent, nor even covered by the outing law? The lives of these interrogators, doing what their country asked of them to protect all of us, has now been violated and endangered, endangering their families as well. Even one of the Left's favorite pundits, James Carville, sees the dangers to our country in this action.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While I regret the passing of Senator Kennedy, and respect his fight for life (which his own health care reform may not have allowed), I do believe we should all know what action he took just prior to his death. From the Politico: "Sen. Edward M. Kennedy urged Massachusetts

lawmakers last week to give Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick the power to name his successor. But with reactions to Kennedy’s proposal mixed – and with the legislature not due back until after Labor Day – it appears for now that Massachusetts will be without a second senator until a special election can be held early next year

While many states allow a governor to fill a vacant Senate state, Massachusetts Democrats changed their state’s law in 2004 to prevent then Gov. Mitt Romney – a Republican – from naming a replacement for Sen. John Kerry if he had defeated George W. Bush in the presidential race".

It seems to me that Democrats often think laws should be changed just for their benefit, not that of the country. Here is another case in point.

Congressman Pete Hoesksta in Michigan

A Meeting With U.S. Congressman Pete Hoekstra....

During the question and answer time, Congressman Hoekstra, who is currently running for Governor of the State Of Michigan, was asked what he thinks about the GITMO prisoners being housed in a prison facility in Michigan's Northern Peninsula. He acknowledges that it would certainly provide several thousand new jobs in Standish. However, he is attempting to make sure that prior to the acceptance of those prisoners, the citizens or their representatives need to be told the truth regarding those prisoners by declassifying for those citizend the pertinent information. Congressman Pete Hoekstra has knowledge of this because of his place on the House's Intelligence Committee.

Regarding the new Democrat calls for possibly replacing "single-payer" legislation to a proposed "co-op" legislation, he says the new term is simply a euphenism (an inoffensive term substituted for one considered offensively explicit). The laws involved would be identical in intention as well as in outcome, as some pols have actually already admitted. Beware!

Regarding ACORN and it's many affiliates, he said that there will be no investigation, change or control, much less a withdrawal of taxpayer funding, during a Democrat Congress. I guess we can expect voter fraud to once again be part of our election process in 2010.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Carrie Boudoff: House Democrats are probing the nation’s largest insurance companies for lavish spending, demanding reams of compensation data and schedules of retreats and conferences.

Letters sent to 52 insurance companies by Democratic leaders demand extensive documents for an examination of ‘extensive compensation and other business practices in the health insurance industry.” The letters set a deadline of Sept. 14 for the documents.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, signed the three-page letter dated Monday.

An industry source replied when asked for comment: “This is nothing more than a taxpayer-funded fishing expedition designed to silence health plans."

By Sept. 4, the firms are supposed to supply detailed compensation data for board members and top executives, as well as a “table listing all conferences, retreats, or other events held outside company facilities from January 1, 2007, to the present that were paid for, reimbursed, or subsidized in whole or in part by your company.”

For employees or officers making $500,000 or more, the committee wants information on salary, bonus, options and pension.

And by Sept. 14, the firms are supposed to provide copies of reports from compensation consultants

, plus board drafts of compensation plans, and information about market share.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BEWARE RECONCILIATION! With only 51 votes, this health care bill can be passed. The minority, apparently, can then "shut down" the Congress for a long time by using a rule to force every bill being considered to be read out loud prior to it's passage..... Now that would take a very long time.......

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ObamaCare Part 1 has already been passed, as it was covertly placed in the Obama Stimulus bill. In H.R. 1: Final Stimulus Bill pages 136, 151, 63, 73, 135, 153 and 351 “healthcare” and establishes the Obama bureaucrat committee known as the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Clinical Effectiveness Research is addressed. I have discussed this in a former blog.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Office of Management and Budget leaked word that, sometime this week, it will revise its projection of the federal budget deficit over the next 10 years from $7 trillion to $9 trillion.

That $2 trillion upward revision will put the White House's numbers in line with the $9.1 trillion deficit that the Congressional Budget Office projected in June. Back then, the administration criticized CBO's analysis; now it's admitting that CBO was right after all. (Of course, CBO might yet revise its projection upward even more, in light of current economic realities.) We cannot afford single-payer health care!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Glenn Beck: Does HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius have any clue? Apparently not, because as she's trying to describe the benefits of government run healthcare, she's actually describing the pitfall of it. She says, "And without competition costs could skyrocket. In a monopoly system it's not a great way to hold down costs." Ummm, Kathleen, what do you think a government system would do?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again from Glenn Beck (and why not from the Main Stream Media?): The Apollo Alliance, a special interest group, was responsible for drafting the stimulus bill. Know this: Apollo is run by the Weather Underground founder, Jeff Jones. So, add yet another radical to Obama's team.....Must be nice to be an unelected group and have a few hundred billion dollars at your discretion, huh? Who is the Apollo Alliance and who is on the board? Here's the segment from TV last night that Drudge linked to today, exposing the radical background of Obama's Green Jobs Czar". Glenn tells us that he has actually been called by the White House, and was asked to, in effect, temper his remarks by not calling the lead person a Czar..... Wait a minute - who was the latest major lobbyist who is also advising the White House? Since actually being a lobbyist while advising the President would be illegal, he is trying to tell us that he is instead a "resource" - a true parsing of the truth. Oh, yes - that would be Tom Daschle, whose plan to be Secretary of Health and Human Services was "dashed" because of a large amount of unpaid taxes. Not only is this President breaking his pledge to NOT hire former lobbyists, he may be illegally using one under the radar". Know this: Apollo is run by the Weather Underground founder, Jeff Jones. So, add yet another radical to Obama's team.....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even one of the Left's favorite pundits, James Carville, sees the dangers to our country in the action by President Obama and Rahm Emanuel to investigate and prosecute CIA interrogators. Others have noted that this will embolden our enemies, weaken our defenses and give our allies a good reason not to cooperate with us on any intelligence they may have. Our country will be in greater danger, and the head of the CIA, Leon Panetta, knows it. Even some on the left are questioning on which side this Administration sits, and how far it is willing to go to leave us defenseless against our enemies.

Health Care Bill - a change that will last for decades...

Washington, DC seems to be in a fog bank, unable to see what is the truth about the once "silent" majority.....

The FCC has just appointed a "diversity czar" who once worked for George Soros. I'm sure he won't be trying to bring "fairness" to the airwaves - right? NOT!
------------------------------------------------
As our President famously said, though fails to believe, "Words mean things". So- pay attention to these words! --------------!
PITTSBURGH - Former President Bill Clinton told an audience of liberal online activists Thursday evening that the nation has “entered a new era of progressive politics” that could last for decades if Democrats can pass ambitious measures such as health care reform and climate change. [keep up the good "fight" against total government control of us!....]
The following appeared on Boston.com:
Headline: Immigrants to soon lose state health insurance
Date: Aug 17, 2009

"Thirty thousand legal immigrants have begun receiving letters informing them that their state-subsidized health insurance is ending Aug. 31 and will be replaced by a patchwork system of care until Massachusetts officials can piece together a more comprehensive plan for the most critically ill." [Yet another state, Hawaii being the first, has failed in it's attempt at a state-controlled health care plan. What would make us think that the feds, who have run Medicare and Medicaid into near bankruptcy, could efficiently run a health care system for hundreds of millions of patients?]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Andrew Thomas of American Thinker: regarding whether we conservative, constitution-loving Americans have yet achieved our objectives concerning the cessation of government control: Au contraire, mon frère (as George Carlin would say). We are facing the most ruthless and power-hungry government in American history. They have the most effective and dedicated propaganda arm the world has ever known, i.e. the misnomered "mainstream" media. They are changing the face of America surreptitiously through an unelected and completely uncontrolled group of leftist radicals (including an avowed Communist) known as "Czars". Congress has been relegated to the status of "useful idiots". The government commands the powerful thuggish shadow armies of ACORN and SEIU, with the intent of forcibly drafting millions of our kids, brainwashing them, and inducting them into a third shadow army, AmeriCorps.

This administration currently controls the census, which can initiate creation of additional congressional districts in liberal areas of the country based on their populations as counted by leftist community organizers. The left dominates election committees and polling volunteers. If they decide to sabotage voting machines or vote tabulation software or servers, who will provide the oversight to prevent them from doing so? They run the largest organized voter fraud organization in the world (except for perhaps Iran) a.k.a. ACORN. Who knows what "October surprises" they have planned? Will we see the New Black Panther Party more actively menacing voters at the polls, since the Obama administration refuses to prosecute this voter intimidation?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The RNC forwarded a press release/research memo to reporters today claiming that a "'public option' by any other name is still government health care." (snip) Reid deemed co-ops as "some type of public option" in early July--
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-NY, told ABC News. "That won't pass the House."
"Some of us who have gotten roughed up pretty good at town hall meetings and stuck in there because we believe in this, now kind of feel like we have a tire track on our chest where the bus that rolled over us is," Weiner said.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals in all 50 states of the union, according to the Gallup Poll.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike Allen writes:

Following a furor over how the data would be used, the White House has shut down an electronic tip box — flag@whitehouse.gov — that was set up to receive information on “fishy” claims about President Barack Obama’s health plan.

E-mails to that address now bounce back with the message: “The e-mail address you just sent a message to is no longer in service. We are now accepting your feedback about health insurance reform via http://www.whitehouse.gov/realitycheck.” [And I ask what the difference will be, since they are still accepting messages at a different location?]
