Mr. Obama spoke for 45 minutes to an audience of several thousand people, most of them black, , clad in tuxedos and ball gowns, who had gathered in a ballroom of the Hilton New York to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

[This is the message many have been longing for, for minority students to apply themselves and to gain the good education which has been available to them, if only achieving a good education were the priority of their parents and themselves. When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.

It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of "Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.

So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

Even as California struggles with a catastrophic fiscal crisis and other states scramble to avoid the same fate, Democrats in Washington are proposing health care measures that would add hundreds of billions of dollars of spending to state budgets via an expansion of Medicaid. The program, which covers about 40 million people now, would gain 15 million to 20 million new beneficiaries if Democrats get their way.

The Congressional Budget Office pegged the cost of such an expansion at $500 billion over 10 years, but the total cost is likely higher because the estimate only counts the projected burden on the federal government. Under the current arrangement, Washington picks up about 57 percent of the cost of Medicaid and states pay for 43 percent. While the latest draft of the bill by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee has the federal government subsidizing the Medicaid expansion for the first five years, after that, the burden will gradually shift back to the states.

BOSTON — A hospital that serves thousands of indigent Massachusetts residents sued the state on Wednesday, charging that its costly universal health care law is forcing the hospital to cover too much of the expense of caring for the poor.

The hospital, Boston Medical Center, faces a $38 million deficit for the fiscal year ending in September, its first loss in five years. The suit says the hospital will lose more than $100 million next year because the state has lowered Medicaid reimbursement rates and stopped paying Boston Medical “reasonable costs” for treating other poor patients. The suit comes as Congress looks to Massachusetts as a potential model for overhauling the nation’s health care system. Even before the suit, the state’s fiscal crisis had cast doubts on the law’s sustainability.

To help close a growing deficit, the Democratic-controlled Legislature eliminated coverage for some 30,000 legal immigrants in the new state budget. Gov. Deval Patrick, a Democrat, is seeking to restore about half of the $130 million cut, but lawmakers have expressed reluctance, saying that doing so would require cuts to other important programs. “The magnitude of the loss here can’t be solved on the program-cutting or expense-cutting side,” Mr. Traylor said. Professor Parmet said the hospital’s dissatisfaction with the new law should be a warning to Congress that “insurance alone doesn’t solve the problems” of the health care system. In fact, she said, it might exacerbate the financial problems of safety-net hospitals in the short term.

A U.S. Army Reserve major from Florida scheduled to report for deployment to Afghanistan within days has had his military orders revoked after arguing he should not be required to serve under a president who has not proven his eligibility for office.

It is high time, I guess, for Obama to prove that he is an American citizen, a simple enough thing to do. A judge has recently said that he WILL hear the lawsuit to determine if Barack Obama actually IS an American citizen if and when the legal paperwork is rewritten... Obama can do this in various ways: he can provide his college transcripts, which have been reported to prove that his scholarship was based the the fact that he was a foreign student; he can show us his Visa for the times long ago that he traveled the world, so that we can see his country of citizenship; he can refute his aunt and other relatives from Kenya who maintain that he was born there and then flown to Hawaii; he can show us his ORIGINAL birth certificate; or he can explain why he has paid nearly one million dollars to his attorneys to prevent any of this information from being documented. This ruling by the military just might open that door.... I am, however, waiting for the other shoe to drop from Obama's military.

Billionaire T. Boone Pickens, according to the AP, is planning to cash in on the wind energy boom by building the world's largest wind farm in West Texas. The oil tycoon wants to install large wind turbines in parts of four Panhandle counties in a project that would produce up to 4,000 megawatts of electricity.

Oops! That was June of 2007. This month of July 2009, things have changed. Pickens is trying to find buyers for the 687 windmills which he has already purchased for over 2 billion dollars. According to Sabastian Blanco, Pickens' told NPR that people still want renewables and that the wind farm will someday come to fruition. Until then, though, he's still touting natural gas as a replacement for oil and said he would find places to install the 667 wind turbines that he had already ordered for the farm. [He is blaming the inability to get financing as well as the COST of actually getting the energy produced to the people who need it. Now who would have thought THAT would be a problem?]

In sharp contrast to his positive words during President Barack Obama's visit to Moscow earlier this week when the two reached broad agreement on nuclear arms cuts, Medvedev used a news conference at the G8 summit to return to Russia's earlier tough rhetoric on arms control. Referring to an order he gave earlier this year to prepare deployment of short-range Russian missiles in the western enclave of Kaliningrad to answer to any U.S. deployment of a missile shield in central Europe, Medvedev said: "If we don't manage to agree on the issues, you know the consequences. What I said during my state of the nation address has not been revoked." Medvedev also appeared to change his tone on the missile defense shield itself. During Obama's visit he told the U.S. leader, using markedly softer language than normal, that "no one is saying that missile defense is harmful in itself or that it poses a threat to someone." But at the Group of Eight rich nations summit in Italy on Friday, Medvedev returned to a traditional posture on the system, describing it as "harmful" and "threatening to Russia."

Austin King, director of ACORN Financial Justice, sent out a press release today advising of the demonstrations that are planned as part of its "Homewrecker 4" campaign. He said, “Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket . . . because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, natural gas, you name it . . . Whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money, and they will pass that [cost] on to consumers.’’ Obama also suggested that his energy policy would [happily] ruin the coal industry, for “if somebody wants to build a coal-fired plant, they can - it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.’’ Better turn you thermostats WAY down!

The Census Bureau responded to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, leading Judicial Watch to report that:

In its official statement responding to the ACORN controversy, the Obama Commerce Department downplayed ACORN's participation in the Census, and labeled "baseless" the notion that ACORN would be involved in any Census count. However, the Census Bureau offered ACORN the opportunity to "recruit Census workers" who would participate in the count. Moreover, as an "executive level" partner, ACORN has the ability to "organize and/or serve as a member on a Complete Count Committee," which, according to Census documents, helps "develop and implement locally based outreach and recruitment campaigns."

According to its application ACORN also signed up to: "Encourage employees and constituents to complete and mail their questionnaire; identify job candidates and/or distribute and display recruiting materials; appoint a liaison to work with the Census Bureau; provide space for Be Counted sites and/or Questionnaire Assistance Centers; sponsor community events to promote participation in the 2010 Census," among 18 requested areas of responsibility. The documents also show the decision to add ACORN as a partner occurred in February, long after the January 15th Census partnership application deadline.

Two senior Republican senators, Jeff Sessions and Jon Kyl, sent a letter to President Obama on Wednesday expressing concern over the possibility that the administration negotiated "directly or indirectly" with terrorists for the release of those British hostages in Iraq. In the letter, the two senators said that a deal to free the hostages had been "reported by numerous outlets in the United States and Europe. If these reports are accurate, they confirm that your [Obama] administration released a major terrorist detainee in connection with hostage negotiations with a terrorist group." That ought to encourage more hostage-taking, don't you think?

Concerning global warming: not only are NASA satellites showing a cooling trend, but 700 scientists, comared to the UN's 50, have come out in opposition to the patently false claims of the global warming lobby. The only way that meteorologists have been able to reproduce the findings of the IPCC is using 'data-padding", which the IPCC has admitted to using. The IPCC, therefore, lied by manipulating data in order to get the alarming results they desired. Now, it has been discovered that NYC has had the coolest June since 1958. This is yet another example of the FACT that the globe has been cooling over the last 10 years!

From ABC: With the clock running out on a new US-Russian arms treaty before the previous Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires on December 5, a senior White House official said Sunday said that the difficulty of the task might mean temporarily bypassing the Senate’s constitutional role in ratifying treaties by enforcing certain aspects of a new deal on an executive levels and a “provisional basis” until the Senate ratifies the treaty.

Vice President Biden announced recently that Lynn Rosenthal will be the White House adviser on Violence Against Women, a new position created to work with the president and vice president on domestic violence and sexual assault issues. We can all support the notion that these issues should be addressed, but enough with the intrusion of the Feds!

There was once said in this world a phrase attributed to Benjamin Disraeli and popularised in the United States by Mark Twain: ...that there are "lies, damn lies, and statistics". This notion is bourne out by the methods which liberal pollsters use to get their statistics, and this has been true for a long time. Let's say, which is true, that in the last election the popular vote tally was 53 percent for Obama and 46 percent for McCain - a 7 point difference. Now let's assume that we wish to have an outcome which greatly favors our liberal side. I've got an idea! Let's just poll 52% liberals and 28% conservatives- nearly two to one! That's the ticket! Apparently The New York Times skewed their polling by offering the questions to mostly Obama voters. Is it shocking, then, that their poll shows that the majority supports higher taxes for federal health care? The NYT is calling this a scientific poll. I'm not buying it, are you?

HOUSE PASSES 'GLOBAL WARMING' LEGISLATION... 'BILL OF THE CENTURY' VOTED ON UNREAD... ENOUGH SAID.... Well, almost. Part of this bill which has come to light includes the mandate that when any of us who wish to sell our home, we would first have to pass a government inspection which demands that we have energy efficient windows, appliances and the like! From Daquella Manera of Fight for Forefathers comes these excerpts: "This bill funds and allows government hired personnel (youth brigades who are recruited from low income areas) to enter your house in the name of home inspections. These regulations go from the amount of carcinogens in your building materials to the wiring. You will be given a notice on what needs to be replaced with a time limit of repair. Yes this is, as bad as it sounds] my fellow freedom fighters! The goal of this legislation is not to help save the planet, it is designed to achieve complete control over people’s lives under the disguise of a fictitious “carbon foot print” by taxing them in every aspect of their lives. Alex Jones stated, “This is a world dictatorship, paying your taxes to the robber barren banker class, directly to them." No chance for the Iron Fist of a Tyrant government - right? And now news comes of a 98 page document from the EPA which was concealed from America. It began: “We have become increasingly concerned that EPA and many other agencies and countries have paid too little attention to the science of global warming. EPA and others have tended to accept the findings reached by outside groups…as being correct without a careful and critical examination of their conclusions and documentation.” It was stated that this document does not further their agenda, and that the document was to be withheld from publication. And yet today, Henry Waxman is still spouting that the science is uncontested and that the Republicans are standing in the way of the bill being passed in the Senate. Call your Senators!!

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed Saturday to make the U.S. and it's President's regret its criticism of Iran's postelection crackdown and said the "mask has been removed" from the Obama administration's efforts to improve relations. "You should know that if you continue, the response of the Iranian nation will be strong," Ahmadinejad said. "The response of the Iranian nation will be crushing. The response will cause remorse." How's that friendship thing working, Obama?

After inviting Al Gore to speak to the House of Representatives regarding their plans to pass the Cap and Trade Bill, Nancy Pelosi has decided to disinvite him, to have him make phone calls instead. "It was a question of what was energy efficient", she said, as if this woman who flies a large government jet to and from California each week-end is worried about energy efficiency.... Perhaps it is because his message of the globe warming up is a hard one to present, in the face of global cooling for the last ten years.....

In a nationally televised event at the White House, Obama said families need better information so they don't unthinkingly approve "additional tests or additional drugs that the evidence shows is not necessarily going to improve care." He added: "Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller." So, old people: screw you. In the future Uncle Sam will put you on an ice floe and let you float away to your heavenly reward. It gives new meaning to the Latin phrase "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori." (In English, How sweet and glorious it is to die for one's country.) Medical decisions should be made by patients, their families, and their doctors, not by government bureaucrats, but that's ObamaCare for you.

Barack Obama has suggested that that unions would be exempt from the taxation of their health care benefits under his ObmaCare plan! What?? Obama said he was open to imposing new taxes on Americans who are not union members. How that "Change" he promised working for us?

According to Senator John Conyers, "the powers that be decided against" a continuation of their investigations into ACORN and its possible voter fraud. This is the same ACORN who will be involved in taking our new Census......

Barack Obama has made some pretty shocking appointments in his first 5 months of office. But some say that the worst appointment yet is that of Kevin Jennings to serve as Assistant Deputy Secretary for the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools in the Department of Education. Jennings, who is homosexual, founded and served as the Executive Director of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) until last year. He has made a career of leading an effort to promote to children as young as kindergarteners that homosexuality is normal - via pro-homosexual messages. Every appointment of our President truly displays his agenda for America...

Wade Rathke, who founded ACORN, announced on his blog that ACORN International has officially changed its name to “Community Organizations International.” Too much bad press and 14 lawsuits is making it difficult for them to do business - so they are hoping a name change will provide cover for them..... They are also dismantling a New Orleans non-profit named Citizen's Consulting Inc. which is connected to several of over 200 ACORN affiliates. ACORN currently works in 12 countries.

Stating that SPEED is needed in order to pass the energy and health care bills, Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats have cut off debate regarding the group
ACORN and it's wide-ranging possible violations of the law..... they recently authorized an unprecedented change in House rules, curbing the right of the minority to offer amendments to appropriations spending bills.

While President Barack Obama is not creating another Czar, via Executive Order he is creating a White House council to handle issues that affect American communities and workers tied to the automotive industry, the White House Council on Automotive Communities and Workers. It is little wonder that the unemployment number in Washington, DC is only 5.6% or so.....

In a display of pure arrogance, pettiness and narcissism, California Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer admonished Brig. General Michael Walsh of the Army Corp of Engineers (while he was testifying to the Senate), "Do me a favor, can you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am'? It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it. Thank you." Ms. Boxer SHOULD have been telling Walsh of her appreciation that he and all in the military are protecting our country so that she CAN be a Senator. If she understood the military, she would know that "Ma'am" is a very respectful way for a military person to address someone. How petty, small and embarrassing can one be?

The speaker filed the legislation with the Rules Committee on Monday night, her spokesman said, even though its authors, Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Massachusetts Rep. Ed Markey, are still working out a deal. [I'm sure this will be presented as a dire emergency which needs to be addressed NOW, along with everything else they are attempting in their desire to "never let a serious crisis go to waste". We can watch the farmers, among others, try to keep this from passing.] On the Global Warming front, Thursday was the 14th consecutive day in Arizona to stay below 100 degrees, the longest period in June to be recorded since 1913. When considering a national health care program for America, keep in mind that in Canada, where government provides health care for all of its citizens, patients must wait an average of 7 weeks for treatment of life-threatening cancer, and 9 hours for emergency room care.

Consumer Financial Product Safety Commission is the name for yet another new idea of Obama's. He wants to name this commission to oversee the credit card and mortgage industries, among others. "However, the commission could end up limiting consumer credit options and innovation just as the economy is beginning to rebound", said Bill Himpler, the executive vice president for government affairs of the American Financial Services Association, the trade association for the consumer credit industry. "The last thing we want to do is scare the consumer. And we're afraid that creating an agency that would put government in control of personal finances would undermine that confidence that seems to be being restored," he said.

And in the true spirit of his tyranny, Obama has been releasing at least one horrific piece of information almost each and every day—the latest being his control of the news. Tyrants release shocking information each and every day until the now-ruled member population becomes numbed to it. When the members (once know as “We-the-People”) become “numbed-down”, they become more compliant and are far easier to control. These members then begin the process of ignoring or denying the fact that they have become slaves to the tyrant. This is also a substantive sign of Tyranny. [Again, American needs to wake up!]

President Obama used the first-person singular pronoun "I" 34 times on Monday when he announced he was nationalizing General Motors. He used “Congress” once and “law” not at all. As Obama described it, the government takeover of General Motors was Obama’s decision made for Obama’s reasons.

What law now gives Obama authority to buy General Motors? The White House says, when pressed, it is the Troubled Asset Relief Program. But that legislation was written specifically to allow the Treasury Department to purchase assets from “financial institutions.” It says nothing about buying auto companies. And where does the Constitution say the government can take ownership of an auto company, let alone at the individual initiative of a president who cannot point to a duly enacted law that clearly expresses the deliberated will of the people that he should have that power. [I add that a 39 yr. old who admits that he knows NOTHING about automobiles has been put in charge - by President Obama.]

Capturing the news this week is the fact that President Obama has fired AmeriCorps inspector general Gerald Walpin. Top executives at the corporation which runs Americorps were unhappy with his investigation into the misuse of AmeriCorps funds by Kevin Johnson, the former NBA star who is now mayor of Sacramento, California and a prominent supporter of President Obama.
President Obama’s options here are circumscribed by the Inspector-Generals Reform Act of 2007, which was co-sponsored by Sen. Barack Obama. The IGs are appointed by presidents but do not serve at the Chief Executive’s pleasure as do other presidential appointees. The AmeriCorps case illustrates why IG independence must be maintained. Walpin found that Johnson used about $850,000 of AmeriCorps funds for personal and political benefit. Johnson was not charged and the half of the grant money that was supposed to be returned under an agreement with the government has not been received. The key issue now is whether Congress will permit this latest illustration of what The Examiner’s Michael Barone calls Obama’s “gangster government". News comes today that there are also similar problems regarding the NYCU....and the ways in which government have been put to use at that institution.


Last week President Obama appointed yet another “czar” with massive government power, answering only to him. Even before this latest appointment, the top-ranking Democrat in the Senate, Robert Byrd, wrote President Obama a letter saying that these czars are unconstitutional. President Obama’s “czar strategy” is an unprecedented power grab centralizing authority in the White House, outside congressional oversight and in violation of the Constitution, said Byrd.
He criticized the president’s strategy of creating czars to manage important areas of national policy, saying that these appointments violate both the constitutional system of checks and balances and the constitutional separation of powers, and is a clear attempt to evade congressional oversight. [Didn’t this White House promise unprecedented transparency?]


The man behind the plan to bulldoze a wide area of depressed Flint, Michigan, in order to bring it back to some state of abundance, is Dan Kildee, the treasurer of Genesee County, Michigan. President Obama absorbed his vision and now believes that it would be a good thing for the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to choose parts of 50 failing cities which he, or his next Czar, perhaps, would deem ripe for bulldozing. These cities include Detroit and Philadelphia. Big Brother is expanding his grasp of America...

More taxation ideas

• News from the Guardian U.K. reveals that fifty of the least developed countries on this earth have suggested a way to get billions of dollars from others to fund their climate change abatement. They have proposed a tax on international air travel . Curiously, they have not chosen to actually make any behavior changes, nor to consider that humans have not caused the "climate change" and cannot therefore halt it. In fact, as shown later in this blog, temps are getting ever colder over the last 10 years, even setting new lows not seen since 1943, when manmade "climate change" was not being suggested. This taxation "suggestion" could be matched by a shipping fuel surcharge, according to Connie Hedegaard, the Danish environment and energy minister who will host the final UN climate summit in December.. Haven't we already been paying that surcharge when we fly? I think so, but not enough for poor countries to help in making the US another poor country so that we can all be equal....

In another move to supress those Americans who have worked hard to earn a good living, Bloomberg reports that President Barack Obama wants Congress to consider taxing the wealthy instead of workers to pay for a health-care overhaul, as House Democrats discuss a plan to require health insurance for most Americans. Beware! The "lucky" rich will never have paid enough taxes to satisfy Barack Obama. In yet another move to prevent Obama's promise of lowering taxes for 95% of American tax payers, Democrats are now considering the taxation of everyone's employer paid health care insurance.

Concerning the Obama Stimulus Plan, the Federal Reserve announced a $1.2 trillion plan three months ago designed to push down mortgage rates and breathe life into the housing market. Quite the opposite is occuring, as rates are heading higher in response to concern for inflation brought on by our massive National Debt.


In the latest news about "global warming", Green Bay, Wisconsin recorded a high temperature of 52, the lowest high temp there since 1943, according to the National Weather Service.

And snow has fallen in Dickinson, North Dakota in June, the first time in nearly 60 years the city has seen snow past May.


A follow-up on Obama's desire to force a"Buy American" policy on any stimulus monies: in retaliation, Canadian mayors have passed a resolution that could shut out U.S. bidders from local city contracts. One wonders what other countries will decide to block American companies from gaining business in theirs.
