Verdict is in: Obama speech a flop - even with Democrats
Politico is blaming this on Obama's strict adherence to the "politics of 2012" -- "a race that has been defined by relentless, almost mechanical efforts to motivate voters with narrow appeals to specific constituencies and to destroy the opposition as a credible alternative."
Such
may be the case, especially since for the first time in 30 years, a
sitting president had absolutely no case to make for his own
re-election. Even rhetorically (forget the delivery) the speech fell
flat. It was like giving a sports report and not mentioning the scores.

“
In every important respect Obama’s victory in the 2008 presidential
election was a victory for racism. First there was the racist claim that
his skin color made his election somehow significant for black
Americans with whom he otherwise shares no common moral or historical
heritage. Second, his stubborn advocacy of the parent’s right to murder
her child made it a victory in principle for the racist notion that
‘inferior’ physical development leaves people with no rights that must
be respected by their supposed betters. Third, the U.S. Constitution has
been openly set aside on account of fears that racist violence would
result from investigating the facts regarding his citizenship at birth
(lest they support the conclusion that he is constitutionally ineligible
to serve as president of the United States.) Truth, right and the
Constitution – all sacrificed for the sake of racist fears and
premises.”
For all the Democrats’ talk of unity, the years during which Obama
has occupied the White House seem to me to have left our country more
deeply and critically divided than at any time in its history (excepting
perhaps the years just before the Civil War.
At the Democrats’ convention this week, these black Christians saw
the fruits of their idolatry. They saw the party that lifted up their
idol expunge the name of God from its platform. And when some sought,
for cynical political reasons, to mitigate the assault with just one
mention of God’s name, they saw and heard the wave of sacrilegious scorn
and contempt that rose to drown out the feebler voices that were raised
to support the gesture. (The proposal passed, but only because the
chairman’s gavel tolled a lie.)
Did black Christian voters feel the shame of this demonstration of
hatred and contempt toward God, whose hymns of praise and honor they
profess to sing?
Will the Christian conscience of black Americans sleep forever? Or will
they rise to join with others who reject would-be leaders, whatever
party label they wear, who openly reject God; or who give hollow
lip-service to His name but reject His authority in their policies and
actions.

(CNN) - A magazine known for its
sexually explicit material is offering a reward of $1 million dollars
for a different type of bare-all expose.
The publisher of Hustler magazine, Larry Flynt, is offering the sum
for the skinny on GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's financials,
the magazine announced.

[Although she is explaining her disappointment in her Barack Obama and disdaining Republicans, here is an amazing column from the radical Left Maureen Dowd on the ways in which Obama has failed her.]
HOW did the one formerly known as The One go for two?
In his renomination acceptance speech here on Thursday night, he told us
that America’s problems were tougher to solve than he had originally
thought.
And that’s why he has kindly agreed to give us more time.
Because, after all, it’s our fault.
“So you see, the election four years ago wasn’t about me,” President
Obama explained. “It was about you. My fellow citizens, you were the
change.”
We were the change!
We were the change? Us?
“Only you can make sure that doesn’t happen,” the president chastised us. “Only you have the power to move us forward.”

“Today, Vice President Biden said that he should be fact checked, and we
agree,” said Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg. “The vice
president knowingly and deliberately leveled false and discredited
attacks. This is further proof that the Obama Campaign is unable and
unwilling to talk honestly or substantively about the most important
issues driving the country."
[For example:] Among the questionable remarks were Biden's argument that "after the
worst job loss since the Great Depression we created 4.5 million private
sector jobs in the past 29 months" – a frequent response by the Obama
campaign when questioned about the slow economic recovery.
The Associated Press and others point out that statement is
misleading because it counts jobs from the recession's lowest point to
where employment began to grow again – excluding jobs lost earlier in
Obama's term and masking that overall unemployment has increased over
that period.
[This reminds me of the "hockey stick" lie supposedly proving global warming. Simply start your statistics at the place that would give you the results you desire.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you include the underutilized labor figure with the eight
million Americans who have lost hope altogether and stopped looking for a
job, real unemployment now stands at just under
19 percent.
2. If the labor force were the same as when President Obama took
office in January 2009, the unemployment rate reported on Friday would
be
11.2 percent.
3. A record
88,921,000
Americans are no longer in the labor force. To be included in that
figure, an individual must be over 16 years of age, a civilian, not in a
mental hospital or nursing home, and have stopped hunting for a job for
at least four weeks.
4. The average American lost
40 percent of their wealth from 2007 to 2010.

Romney, who faces Obama in the Nov. 6 election, has vowed throughout
the campaign to repeal and replace the Obama healthcare law. But asked
about the Obama healthcare law on NBC's "Meet the Press" program, Romney
said, "Well, I'm not getting rid of all of healthcare reform."
"Of course, there are a number of things that I like in healthcare
reform that I'm going to put in place," Romney added. "One is to make
sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage. Two is to
assure that the marketplace allows for individuals to have policies
that cover their family up to whatever age they might like."
[To those who are alarmed by this, keep in mind that he never said he would do away with all healthcare reforms, and the pre-existing conditions coverage is for those who have continuously had insurance. Reforms do need to be made, just not the entirety of Obamacare.]

This kind of mechanism, using high-risk pools combined with prohibitions
on pre-existing condition exclusions for the continuously insured, has
been part of just about every conservative health-care proposal in
recent years, including John McCain’s in 2008, the Ryan-Coburn alternative to Obamacare, and the congressional Republicans’ “Pledge to America”
before the 2010 elections (as well as older proposals in the Bush
years). The basic structure of these different proposals is very
similar, and is based on many years of conservative policy proposals
along these lines—here’s a great detailed overview of how this would work.- [I have often thought that when a person leaves employment with one company, he should be able to keep that same insurance policy instead of having to pick up a new one, sometime with a pre-existing condition.] http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/316381/pre-existing-ignorance-yuval-levin

With its huge reflecting pools,
ringed by waterfalls and skyscrapers, and a cavernous underground museum
still under construction, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum
at the World Trade Center is an awesome spectacle that moved and
inspired some 4.5million visitors in its first year.
But
all that magnificence comes with a jaw-dropping price tag. The
foundation that runs the memorial estimates that once the $700million
project is complete, the memorial and museum will together cost
$60million a year to operate.

Book: Mafia Hit-Man & Teamster Boss Helped Joe Biden Become U.S. Senator
The book
I Heard You Paint Houses came out in 2003, so it’s been gathering some dust on a number of bookshelves around the country for quite some time.
The book’s title,
according to Amazon, comes from the first words infamous Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa ever spoke to Frank “the Irishman” Sheeran.
To paint a house is to kill a man. The paint is the blood that splatters on the walls and floors.
The book is essentially the deathbed biography of one-time Delaware Teamster boss and mob hit-man
Frank Sheeran and truly is a fascinating read.
While the book has been out for some time, it wasn’t until last night, during
Joe Biden’s prime time speech, that I was reminded of some of the book’s contents, most notably this piece that appeared in
the Orange County Register a few weeks ago:
One additional item relates to Biden’s integrity. In the
fascinating biography of Teamsters and Mafia hit-man Frank Sheeran, “I
Heard You Paint Houses,” the lifelong thug describes a favor he
performed while he was president of Teamsters Local 326 in Wilmington,
Delaware.
In 1972 Sheeran received a visit from “a very prominent
lawyer” he knew who was “very big in the Democratic Party” in Delaware.
The November general election was approaching, and the race for the U.S.
Senate seat held by a Republican was expected to be close. The lawyer
wanted help in preventing the distribution of a paid Republican
political ad – an insert in the Delaware-wide newspapers – that would
run for a week and expose the campaign misrepresentations by the
Democratic challenger. Sheeran promised the operative that he “would
hire some people and put them on the picket line.” He added, “People
nobody would mess with.”
The picket line went up, the papers were not delivered all
week, and, as Sheeran said, “The day after the election the
informational picket line came down, and the newspaper went back to
normal and Delaware had a new United States Senator.” His name was Joe
Biden. Thereafter, said admitted extortionist, thief and murderer
Sheeran, of Biden, “You could reach out for him, and he would listen.” [Emphasis added.]
So, there you have it. The Vice President of the United States got
his job as U.S. Senator with help from a Mafia hit-man and Delaware
Teamster boss. No wonder Barack Obama keeps Joe as his running mate.
