A school district official said the language in the union contract that protects teachers for those instances "was incorporated into the teacher Master Agreement in 1997."

President Barack Obama told a campaign crowd in Ohio Wednesday he would be tougher than his Republican opponent Mitt Romney when it comes to trade with China.

Arizona is expanding its Move On When Ready initiative, a program in which high schools reward achievement by allowing students to graduate after two years.
Nearly two dozen district, charter and private schools joined the program this year, in addition to the dozen schools that are in their second year, according to the Center for the Future of Arizona, the organization that is overseeing the program.

Move On When Ready, passed by the Legislature in 2010, is an effort to boost education based on performance, not "seat time." Participating schools teach an intense curriculum that includes end-of-course examinations. After two years, sophomores who pass the exams can graduate with a Grand Canyon Diploma.
The students can then stay in school and take more advanced classes that prepare them for selective universities, or move on to attend community college.

France is set to ban the words "mother" and "father" from all official documents under controversial plans to legalise gay marriage. 

The move, which has outraged Catholics, means only the word "parents" would be used in identical marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples.

Three states have joined a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
On Sept. 20, South Carolina, Michigan, and Oklahoma joined a lawsuit challenging the legality of the financial reform act. Their complaint argues that the “Orderly Liquidation Authority” granted to the Treasury Secretary under Title II of the act “violates the separation of powers.”
In a conference call with reporters on Friday, Scott Pruitt, Oklahoma’s attorney general, said legislators used the 2008 financial crisis “to concentrate power in Washington, DC.”

Laura Meckler of the Wall Street Journal--whose news section, according to UCLA professor Tim Groseclose, is the most liberal of any major mainstream outlet--repeated the campaign's 18,000 claim without even revealing the source of the official-sounding estimate.

Another aspect of transparency was the Constitution's requirement that Congress pass a budget every year. The Democratically controlled Senate during the Obama administration has not passed a budget for three consecutive years.

The Obama campaign produced a poster of an American flag, with Obama’s “O” symbol replacing the field of stars, as an item of campaign merchandise, selling for $35. The image was tasteless at best. Fox News has obtained a three-page intelligence report showing that two days before the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, a statement incited "sons of Egypt" to pressure America to release the so-called blind sheikh "even if it requires burning the embassy down with everyone in it."
The web statement, apparently posted on Sept. 9, was in reference to the embassy in Egypt. It preceded a throng of demonstrators breaching the U.S. Embassy wall in Cairo, supposedly in protest over an anti-Islam film. Obama administration officials claim that attackers in Libya then took their cue from Cairo and seized the opportunity to attack the consulate in Benghazi.
Though the administration's version of events is still evolving, the three-page Department of Homeland Security intelligence report further highlights potential threats that were being picked up before last week's attack.

President Barack Obama is about to release or transfer 55 Gitmo prisoners, despite reports that the Libyan believed to be behind the killing of US Ambassador Christopher Stevens was a former Guantanamo inmate transferred to Libyan custody.

The large percentage of those scheduled to be released are Yemeni, according to a list made public by the Obama administration.

The impact of cheap energy boosts jobs in expanding circles.  Men with high school diplomas pull down $100,000 salaries in the oil and gas fields.  Next circle out: cheap natural gas has revived our steel industry, making American steel production globally competitive again.  Same for plastics and the chemical industry.  Healthy industries mean healthy towns, money for taxes, a sustainable social safety net.  A healthy country.
Excellent working-class jobs, cheap gas, lower consumer prices so the money in your paycheck goes much farther.  Using our energy resources is a huge win for every family and entirely, easily doable.
Energy alone is a reason to vote Republican.  Our economy will not survive if starved of affordable energy.

The audio demonstrates the context of that remark and reveals other far-left positions that Obama held as a state senator.

Tonight, CBS aired a 60 Minutes interview with President Obama. But curiously enough, the news magazine show did not air a clip of Obama admitting to interviewer Steve Kroft that some of his campaign ads contain mistakes and that some even "go overboard."-
"Look, the fact-checkers have had problems with the ads on both sides," Kroft says to Obama in the unaired clip, "and say they've been misleading and in some cases just not true. Does that disturb you? I mean, some of them are your ads."
Obama responds: "Do we see sometimes us going overboard in our campaign, are there mistakes that are made, areas where there is no doubt somebody could dispute how we are presenting things? You know, that happens in politics."
