Judge Brian Cogan mocked the “accommodation” on religion liberty outlined by President Obama in regards to his health care law’s contraception mandate while ruling against a Justice Department motion to dismiss the Archdiocese of New York’s lawsuit against the regulation.
“There is no, ‘Trust us, changes are coming’ clause in the Constitution,” Cogan
wrote in his ruling against DOJ. “To the contrary, the Bill of Rights itself, and the First Amendment in particular, reflect a degree of skepticism towards governmental self-restraint and self-correction.”
Cogan was referring to the fact that Obama’s promise to accommodate the concerns of religiously-affiliated institutions that would have provide free contraception.

On Tuesday, unions, left-wing radicals and their allies are planning to
lay siege to Michigan’s state capitol on Tuesday to protest the
state lawmakers’ move to give workers the right to work for unionized companies without being compelled to pay union fees or be fired. On Saturday,
according to ABC News, more than 200 union activists attended a training for Tuesday.
Between chants, cheers and applause, organizers warned
those at the training to be prepared for insults and obstruction Tuesday
in Lansing. The volunteers lined up on opposite sides of a long hall at
UAW Local 600 in suburban Detroit and took turn turns portraying
protesters and union critics.
“Humanize the situation. Be clear with your intentions. Introduce
yourself,” national labor activist Lisa Fithian, of Austin, Texas, said
through a megaphone. “They’re going to do everything they can to
criminalize us.”
Fithian is
a career community organizer
known for her organizing of protests on behalf of a broad range of
Marxist groups, ranging from ACORN and Code Pink to Occupy Wall Street.

President Barack Obama has been
pictured shaking hands with a South Korean rapper who sang about wanting
to kill American soldiers.
PSY,
born Park Jae-sang, performed at a White House charity event on Sunday,
despite a deeply controversial performance in 2004 that has shocked and
outraged American fans.
PSY owes his popularity to his Korean pop hit taking hold among tens of millions of American fans.
However,
countless fans were offended by the lyrics from an anti-American
protest song he sang that included the lines, '‘kill those f******
Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives…kill them all slowly and
painfully.'
Instead, he was personally greeted by the president on Sunday night.
'Do
you remember when truly talented Americans entertained at WH? Now it's
the "Hate America First" trash- and Commies like Psy,' Examiner.com
columnist Harriet Baldwin tweeted.

White House faces furor over Psy’s anti-U.S. lyricsThe White House deleted a petition Friday on its website demanding that President Obama rescind an invitation to “Gangnam-style” rapper Psy to sing at a Christmas concert in Washington, because of the performer’s anti-American rants.
Psy,
a 34-year-old South Korean performer whose “Gangnam-style” video is the
most-watched of all time, apologized Friday for making obscene comments
about U.S. troops at a protest concert in 2004 in the aftermath of the
U.S. invasion of Iraq. He reportedly sang:
“Kill those f–ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives.”
“Kill those f–ing Yankees who ordered them to torture.”
“Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers.”

We can’t afford the Bush tax cuts, as Obama says? We
can’t afford to terminate them. Over the past 45 years, every time the
capital gains tax rate has been increased, capital gains revenues have
declined rather than increased. Obama’s nearly 60% increase in that rate
will have the same effect. After the Bush cut in taxes on dividends,
dividends paid soared, and so did taxes paid on those dividends. Obama’s
near tripling of that tax will have the opposite effect as well.
Indeed, if the economy declines back into renewed recession, total
federal revenues will decline rather than increase.

Barack Obama as Captain Ahab
To
understand the president’s worldview, it’s worth recalling some of the
most revealing statements he’s made over the last four years. The first
is his response to Charles Gibson during a 2008 debate with Hillary
Clinton, when Obama said he would favor raising capital-gains taxes in
the name of fairness–even if doing so would create a net revenue loss.
The second was Obama’s comments to Joe Wurzelbacher, also made in 2008,
that “when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” And
the third took place in 2012 when the president said, “If you’ve got a
business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
Mr.
Obama’s aim when it comes to taxes, then, isn’t, as he and other
liberals often argue, simply to raise revenues. Rather, it is to advance
their understanding of “fairness,” which they take to be synonymous
with justice, both taken to mean that the top earners in America, at
every given moment in time, aren’t sacrificing enough in the form of
higher taxes. They should always pay more.

NYT: Obama retreating on “red line” for Syrian chemical weapons
When President Obama first warned Syria’s leader, President Bashar al-Assad, that even making moves toward using chemical weapons would cross a “red line” that
might force the United States to drop its reluctance to intervene in
the country’s civil war, Mr. Obama took an expansive view of where he
drew that boundary.
“We cannot have a situation where chemical or
biological weapons are falling into the hands of the wrong people,” he
said at an Aug. 20 news conference. He added: “A red line for us is we
start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being
utilized. That would change my calculus.”
But in the past week, amid intelligence reports that some precursor chemicals have
been mixed for possible use as weapons, Mr. Obama’s “red line” appears
to have shifted. His warning against “moving” weapons has disappeared
from his public pronouncements, as well as those of Secretary of State
Hillary Rodham Clinton. The new warning is
that if Mr. Assad makes use of those weapons, presumably against his
own people or his neighbors, he will face unspecified consequences.

A Major Benghazi Terror Bust -Directly tied to al Qaeda.
The
captured terrorist is Muhammad Jamal al Kashef (a.k.a. Abu Ahmed), who
served as a senior Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ) terrorist in the 1990s
and was imprisoned for years. The EIJ was headed by Ayman al Zawahiri,
who merged the group with Osama bin Laden’s operation.
After
his release from prison in 2011, Kashef established training camps in
Egypt and Libya. Some of Kashef’s trainees took part in the Benghazi
attack, according to multiple reports.
Kashef
is the most senior terrorist detained in connection with the Benghazi
attack to date. Importantly, the publicly-available details of his
biography show that he has numerous al Qaeda connections.

The Real Second Amendment
Limiting
the power of the federal government to subjugate the populace is the
primary purpose of the 2nd Amendment, and nothing in it restricts the
use of arms consistent with maintaining proficiency consistent with
life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What we do with guns is the
subject of existing criminal law,
but having them is not. Arguments against the 2nd Amendment based on
recreational use of arms and the futility of home defense are
deflections. Under the 2nd Amendment, owning and using guns is not
simply permitted, but is presumed; local, even federal, laws and
regulations cannot lawfully infringe on it. The 2nd Amendment is always
susceptible to tyrants, but is vulnerable if too many of us are ignorant
of its purpose.

Democrats (Heart) Socialism
Americans
are used to and take for granted lives of material plenty, including
but not limited to automobiles, comfortable housing, AC in the summer
and heat in the winter, markets bursting with affordable food, pain-free
dentistry, ample and affordable clothing, and frippery such a cable
television, all enjoyed in safety behind the strongest military shield
the world has ever seen. When these things become increasingly dear, or
disappear from the scene altogether, many will have no idea how this
sorry state of affairs came about. Those charmed by the socialist
delusion and who are obsessed with redistributing wealth in a more
"fair" way never seem to wonder where the wealth came from in the first
place

Footprints on the Sand of Time
As the world unravels on Barack Obama’s watch, conservatives might want to take some solace in saying—We
told you so! But they shouldn’t. First of all, it’s not as if the
Romney campaign or the GOP congressional leadership or most conservative
organizations really spent much time bothering to warn of the
consequences of Obama’s foreign policy. And in any case, there’s not
much solace to be had, as the world coming apart threatens the
well-being of America, not just the success of Barack Obama’s second
term.

Education's Great Divide: My Time in the Trenches
In
thinking about how valuable education is in cultivating the next
generation of Americans, my mind took me back nearly twenty years to
when I was a graduate student functioning as a substitute teacher at La
Puente High School in Southern California. On one assignment, I was to
cover a social studies class of
some old-timer; he had written down in his instructions that since his
classes were on a field trip, my sole duty was to show a movie at 6th period to those who did not attend. What I found that day opened my eyes

Obama’s Broken Promises to Sandy Victims
Six
weeks after Sandy hit the New Jersey and New York coast, residents are
still struggling and in desperate need of shelter. Many hard-hit victims
are not getting help despite President Barack Obama’s pledge of the
full support of the federal government, and they are dealing with red
tape the president saidwould not be tolerated.
In
the Red Hook community of Brooklyn, N.Y., many residents are still
living in their unheated, powerless homes in freezing temperatures. Help
from the government for residents has not come.
