Threats to our Governor; Concealed Weapons bill;

"Just know one thing, Rick Snyder: You sign that bill, you won't get no rest," said Rev. Charles Williams II at the Tuesday rally in Lansing, according to Michigan Capitol Confidential. "We'll meet you on Geddes Road. We'll be at your daughter's soccer game. We'll visit you at your church. We'll be at your office." The link between unions and Planned Parenthood may wind up defunding the abortion provider as well as cutting funds for pro-homosexual activist groups in Michigan. This is because Governor Rick Snyder has signed the Right-to-Work law, which leaves workers free to work without joining a union or paying dues to one.

Up until now, a huge portion of the forced dues collected by the unions has been spent supporting politicians who are clearly pro-abortion and pro same-sex marriage. Michigan has been largely unionized because of the great number of government jobs and auto industry jobs. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/12/13/Michigan-Right-to-Work-Defunds-Planned-Parenthood

Denver police say four people were set afire during an assault in North Denver Thursday night.
The incident happened in the 4300 block of Lipan Street shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said two black males knocked on an apartment door and when a woman answered, she was sprayed with some type of liquid from a lawn and garden sprayer.  The woman was then set afire when the men threw a match or lighter on her. [I guess the gun is not the only way crazy people do harm to others. For the past several months, we have been working with Gov. Snyder's team and lawmakers on this second round of legislation, part of our Secure and Fair Elections (SAFE) package. Senate Bill 810 was approved by the House and Senate, and is now on its way to Gov. Snyder for his signature.

One of the provisions of the bill includes a requirement that voters - in signing their ballot application - affirm that they meet all the requirements to vote. In other words, that they are age 18 or older, that they are a registered voter in that community AND that they are U.S. citizen. Click here for news coverage. Click here for the official press release.

Other provisions of the bill would:

a. Help ensure our men and women serving in the military will have their vote count by allowing the secretary to extend the counting deadline beyond Election Day if necessary - as a matter of procedure - if local jurisdictions are late in sending out absentee ballots.
b. Extend the same common-sense photo ID (or affidavit) requirements now in place at the polls on Election Day to absentee voters who pick up their ballot at their local clerk's office.
c. Help stop ballot coaching in our nursing homes to protect our most vulnerable voters.

Tom Monaghan, a devout Roman Catholic, says contraception is not health care and instead is a "gravely immoral" practice. He's a plaintiff in a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court, along with his Domino's Farms, which runs an office park near Ann Arbor.
Monaghan offers health insurance that excludes contraception and abortion for employees. The new law requires employers to offer insurance that includes contraception coverage or risk fines. Monaghan says the law violates his constitutional rights, and he's asking a judge to strike down the mandate.

USA Today wrote that by mid-December the federal government is planning to quietly enact what could be the largest consolidation of personal data in the history of the Republic.  Uncle Sam will serve up critical information on 300 million Americans.
They wrote: "In order to determine eligibility for health insurance subsidies, the new exchanges have to bring together information about your and your family from the Treasury Department and IRS, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, as well as your Social Security number - all coordinated by
the Department of Health and Human Services."  The potential for abuse is staggering.  [Since the federal data will be combined with data streams from state governments, this hub will be a central database linking critical state and federal data on every U.S. citizen for real-time access.  Isn't Obamacare wonderful?]  http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2012/12/06/column-potential-obamacare-privacy-nightmare/1752211/

This story is a week old, actually. Strangely, you haven't seen any real coverage of this development in mainstream media, perhaps because it concerns a crucial legal setback for Barack Obama and Kathleen Sebelius in a New York federal court.
As is Eric Holder's style when his Justice Department is challenged, he attempts not to argue the typically weak legal issues he has but to challenge the standing or timing of the challengers. That's worked in some of the 42 religious lawsuits filed over ObamaCare's pending implementation that the churches say violate their constitutional protections for religious freedom.
But that strategy did not work in the Eastern District Federal Courtroom of Judge Brian Cogan. For the first time, a federal judge allowed this constitutional challenge of ObamaCare to proceed.

Raising taxes doesn't raise revenues; Obama's America will become Detroit; Why Cubans came to America; Media hides union thugs attacks in Lansing; "Religion is what mucks the whole [Chritmas] thing up?; Surviving Americans hidden; The jig is up on manmade global warming lies; Why MI Governor Snyder signed Right to Work legislation

The theater of the absurd in Washington revolving around raising tax rates on the wealthy is based on a fiction: massively raising the rates will result in additional revenue for the government.
One of the constants in any analysis of income taxes paid in the United States since their inception in 1916 is the correlation between the top marginal rates and the taxes actually paid by the so-called wealthy. Short of turning America into Stalin's police state and confiscating all the wealth of the "evil" one percent, the predictable behavior of this economic class very much revolves around the tax policies of the government, both state and federal. [The article describes how those who are taxed too much change their investments so as not to participate.  Even Obama admitted that he knows it won't increase revenues, but it is only FAIR!]

Obama's America Will Become Detroit

President Barack Obama traveled to Michigan this week and made his case for class war in defense of the welfare state.
"Our economic success has never come from the top down," said Obama. "It comes from the middle out. It comes from the bottom up."  [As the old saying goes, "I have never been given a job by a poor man.]Obama spoke these words a few miles from Detroit — the reductio ad absurdum of his argument.
If America continues down the road to Obama's America — a road that began when President Franklin Roosevelt started building a welfare state here — our entire nation will become Detroit.

Is wanting workers to have the right to choose if they're going to join a union racist?
Apparently it is according to MSNBC commentator Al Sharpton who concluded a Huffington Post rant about Michigan's newly enacted right to work laws Wednesday, "People should think twice before they invite Gov. Snyder to a King Day celebration in three weeks."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to the Detroit News‘ Henry Payne, were it not for the United Auto Workers’ top boss, Bob King, and his lust for union power at the expense of the Michigan constitution earlier this year, Michigan’s GOP-legislators and, more importantly, Governor Rick Snyder would not have taken on the fight to enact Right-to-Work legislation. However, it was King and his failed attempt to enshrine forced union payments into the state’s constitution fanned the flames of workplace freedom.
According to Payne, the UAW’s King provoked the Right-to-Work fight by by trying to bite the hand that feeds him one too many times:
Were it not for UAW President Bob King’s introduction of the divisive Prop 2 in November’s campaign, right-to-work would not be an issue today.
With his March announcement of a constitutional amendment to ban right-to-work and reverse Republican-led government reforms, sources say that King united a broad coalition of business, grass-roots activists and legislators in a long-term strategy to not only defeat Prop 2 – but to enact game-changing right-to-work legislation in Michigan.
Politics is about personalities as well as issues, and King’s key mistake was honking off Gov. Rick Snyder who, until King’s Prop 2 provocation, had tried to keep right-to-work on the sidelines. http://www.redstate.com/2012/12/13/dog-bites-man-man-bites-back-the-uaws-king-made-michigans-right-to-work-bed/-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ABC, NBC and CBS ignore union thugs' attack on Fox News contributor
t’s a sad day for American TV journalism when The Huffington Post is a more honest news outlet than ABC, CBS or NBC. On Tuesday, after Michigan union protests escalated into violence, HuffPo led with several stories, including one headlined: “Fox News Contributor Punched.”http://global.fncstatic.com/static/v/all/img/external-link.png
That story was about how Fox News contributor Steven Crowder and others were attacked by union thugs during the protest against the new “right-to-work” law. ABC, CBS and NBC covered the protests but only ABC made mention of police having to deal with protesters. None of them mentioned the attack on Crowder or showed the videos of that attack and the thugs tearing down a tent with people in it, both widely available on the Internet hours before the evening news show broadcasthttp://global.fncstatic.com/static/v/all/img/external-link.png. Man-made global warming: even the IPCC admits the jig is up
The admission of strong evidence for enhanced solar forcing changes everything. The climate alarmists can’t continue to claim that warming was almost entirely due to human activity over a period when solar warming effects, now acknowledged to be important, were at a maximum. The final draft of AR5 WG1 is not scheduled to be released for another year but the public needs to know now how the main premises and conclusions of the IPCC story line have been undercut by the IPCC itself.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R- UT) told Breitbart News on Wednesday that he has been “thwarted” by the State Department from seeing any Americans who survived the deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in  Benghazi. Many people forget that there were Americans who survived the Benghazi attack, some of whom were badly injured and are still recovering.

The Dumbing Down Of Americans [A decades-long process coming to fruition]

Superficial thinking has made many Americans vulnerable to demagogues, thieves and just plain liars. Unfortunately, the media and our government are full of the latter. What's behind this intellectual indolence? Is it drugs, our poor educational system, the instant gratification addiction induced by the technological advances in our culture or is it all the above?
The clearest indicator that this country no longer has grey cells that work is how the voting masses have been manipulated into believing everything the treasonous mainstream media tells them. The very idea that bills can be passed in Congress that will cost us trillions that we don't have and haven't even been read is beyond credibility. They have now reelected a president that has saddled generations to come with trillions of debt and yet will not cut spending. Hollywood celebrities fawned at his feet during the campaign ignoring the fact that he wanted to tax them into bankruptcy. President Barack Obama is just so cool, like Sally Fields, they all thought, "He likes me, he really likes me."

An Islamic extremist hacker group appears to have followed through on its latest threats to attack several major American banks in retaliation for what it says is “widespread and organized offenses to Islamic spirituals and holy issues.”  The attack is one in a series that began this fall under the banner of Operation Ababil, which the group has vowed to continue until the “Innocence of Muslims” film has been removed from the internet.

PNC Bank confirmed on its Facebook page Wednesday that it was experiencing “an unusual volume of internet traffic,” which was impacting its customers’ ability to access their accounts.  On Tuesday, it had posted the following warning:

Put me down as one as a Cuban-American who voted for Romney.   Yes, we saw that "hope and change" movie before and it does not end well.

I will add that I've always supported a rational immigration reform that focuses on the economic needs of the US.  For example, I'm open to "work visas" for people who want to work here.  However, I do not believe in amnesty or legalizing people just because they crossed the border.  Our focus should be on all of those who respected our laws and sit in their countries waiting for their turn to come to the US.

Michigan union violence; Soldiers told to make no derogatory remarks against Taliban or pedophilia; We give more tanks to Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and more

White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to condemn the increasing violence and threats by union members in Michigan, merely telling reporters Tuesday that “the president believes in debate that’s civil.”
When asked by a reporter about a claim by Michigan state Democrat that “there will be blood” should Republicans pass a union-choice law in Michigan, Carney professed ignorance and then downplayed the comment.

Here is a strong indicator that the Obama Administration’s crusade to appease Islam has gone too far; a  new U.S. military handbook for troops deployed to the Middle East orders soldiers not to make derogatory comments about the Taliban or criticize pedophilia, among other outrageous things.

Government eyes crippling climate-control measuresThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is ready to unleash its first wave of carbon-dioxide regulations. Some members of Congress want to tax hydrocarbon use and carbon-dioxide emissions. Moreover, United Nations climate alarmists are trying to devise a new treaty to regulate energy use at the international level. Even one of these government actions would send shock waves through the economy. If all three are imposed (or worse, imposed in conjunction with Obamacare and other tax increases on job and wealth creators) the impacts will be devastating. This climate crisis threatens our energy use, economy, jobs.
Our planet’s climate has never been stable and never will be. Despite rising carbon-dioxide levels, average global temperatures have not risen for 16 years. There is no empirical evidence to support assertions and computer models that claim carbon dioxide drives climate change or to suggest that greenhouse gases have supplanted the complex natural forces that have produced big and little ice ages, floods and droughts, and stormy and quiescent periods throughout Earth’s history.

The big lie by Obama on right to work outcomes; 76% of us favor across the board cuts; Universities and the rights of the accused assaulted by Obama; International education agenda; Poverty and food stamps, and Cloward and Piven;

Obama's Big Michigan Right-To-Work Lie: Lower Wages  The president says right-to-work laws mean "the right to work for less money." So how does he explain the fact that incomes are up in RTW states while forced unionism is a proven job killer?
According to Michigan's Mackinac Center, using data taken from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and Bureau of Labor Statistics, private-sector, inflation-adjusted employee compensation in right-to-work states increased by 12% between 2001 and 2011 compared with just 3% over the same period in forced-unionization states.

An international education must go well beyond the provision of information and is involved in the development of attitudes and values which transcend barriers of race, class, religion, gender or politics.
—International Baccalaureate Organization Subject Guide (1996).
Should we spend taxpayer dollars on a public school curriculum commissioned by the United Nations, made in Europe, and at odds with the principles of the American founding? Through the International Baccalaureate program, that's already underway.
Across the country, public schools (primarily high schools, but also middle and elementary schools) are paying into the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Now, there are 1,296 IB "World Schools" in the United States, of which 279 offer the Primary Years Programme, 445 offer the Middle Years Programme, and 751 offer the Diploma Programme. But a growing chorus of parents and concerned citizens oppose IB because of its conflict with America's founding principles.
IB was founded in 1968 in Switzerland to provide internationally standardized curricula for the children of diplomats.
From this document, we learn that the goal of IB is not merely to impart knowledge or teach thinking skills, but rather to develop "citizens of the world" with "universal human values." http://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2011/05/26/international-baccalaureate-undermines-us-founding-principles

One million Americans entered poverty in the last two months  [It is all about how "poverty" is now defined in America.  As those who have read my columns know, one of the strategies of college professors Cloward and Piven is to put more and more people on government assistance programs, making them more and more dependent on being taken care of.  This is a way to collapse capitalism and have citizens wanting the protection of the government.  Then Socialism will be accepted.]
Four more years! Four more years! And we thought last month´s delayed foodstamp data was bad. The just reported foodstamp number for September was a doozy, with 607,544 new Americans becoming eligible for foodstamps, as a record 47.7 million Americans are now living in poverty at least according to the USDA. The monthly increase was the highest since May 2011, and with August´s 421K new impoverished America, over 1 million Americans made the EBT card their new best friend. It is unclear just which atmospheric phenomenon will get the blame for this unprecedented surge in poverty,

Senator slams USDA for not answering questions on policies contributing to record food stamp use.  Following news that participation in the food stamp program hit another record high in September, Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions took to the Senate floor Tuesday to lambast the Department of Agriculture for failing to respond to an oversight request regarding USDA policies that have likely contributed to the expansion of the program.
The Alabama senator has been pushing USDA for answers on their various means of food stamp promotion — notably to people who either do not want or who should not be on food stamps. While he said he has received some answers that were “very troubling,” his most recent request in October (with a mid-October deadline) for more answers and for USDA to eliminate some of their promotion materials has remained unanswered for nearly two months.

A new report by the intelligence community projects that the United States will no longer be the world's only superpower by 2030.
"In terms of the indices of overall power – GDP, population size, military spending and technological investment – Asia will surpass North America and Europe combined," the report concludes. http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/12/intelligence-community-us-out-as-sole-superpower-by-151519.html

A top Michigan Democratic lawmaker urged President Obama to withhold federal funds for major state infrastructure projects in order to force Republican Governor Rick Snyder to veto the state’s controversial right-to-work bill.

Two days after the U.S. Senate unanimously violated their oaths of office and passed the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), members of the Michigan State House of Representatives unanimously defended the Constitution, passing a bill stopping enforcement of the indefinite detention of Americans within the sovereign borders of the state of Michigan.- http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/item/13848-michigan-state-reps-unanimously-pass-bill-nullifying-ndaa

“This is painful for a liberal to admit,” writes liberal New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, “but conservatives have a point when they suggest that America’s safety net can sometimes entangle people in soul-crushing dependency.”
Kristof is writing from Breathitt County, Ky., deep in the Appalachian mountains, about mothers whose Supplemental Security Income benefits will decrease if their children learn to read. Kristof notes that 55% of children qualifying for SSI benefits do so because of “fuzzier intellectual disabilities short of mental retardation,” far more than four decades ago when SSI was just a new program. http://washingtonexaminer.com/barone-soul-crushing-dependency/article/2515441#.UMZgdoatunE

A United States-based Internet company is currently hosting a propaganda website operated by the terror group Hezbollah, potentially in violation of a law meant to prevent Americans from providing material support to U.S.-designated terror groups.
The Missouri-based GSI Hosting is granting server space to Al Manar TV, which is owned and funded by Hezbollah, according to research provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). http://freebeacon.com/hosting-hate/

Mark Mix, president of National Right to Work, has helped states across the country defend the laws. He expects one of his toughest battles yet in Michigan.
“Labor leaders jealously guard their privilege of forcing everyone into unions but the message is clearer in this case: If Michigan can do these labor reforms, anyone can,” he said.
“The symbolism is central to whatever challenge [unions] raise—it would be quite embarrassing for the union movement to lose Michigan,” Wright said. “It sends a strong statement about weakened labor influence.”
President Barack Obama, who received millions of dollars from labor groups, slammed the law on Monday.  http://freebeacon.com/right-to-sue/

[Think you like Jamie Foxx and his work?] Two weeks ago, Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx made national headlines when he called President Obama "Our lord and savior."
While hosting NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend, Foxx joked about how in his new film "Django Unchained," "I kill all the white people in the movie. How great is that?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
And I got a movie coming out, "Django," check it out. Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson. “Django Unchained” I play a slave. How black is that? And in the movie I had to wear chains. How whack is that? But don't be worried about it because I get out the chains, I get free, I save my wife, and I kill all the white people in the movie. How great is that? And how black is that?
But I'm going to tell you right now, speaking of blackness, my President, President Obama is back up in the White House four more years. How black is that? And not only that, he’s so black, he was playing basketball during the Election Day. How black is that? But he was also late for his acceptance speech. Okay, all the white people, this is your turn - how black is that?

A source with personal knowledge of the security situation in Benghazi told Breitbart News that Senators who listened to closed door testimony about the Benghazi attack were shocked to learn State Department security personnel agents were not immediately armed.

Additionally, agents separated from Ambassador Chris Stevens left to retrieve their M4 weapons in a separate building. Only one returned to protect the Ambassador, while the other two hunkered down in the barracks, the source relayed.
“From the accounts I read, those guys were not ready. When the attack came that night, they had to go back to the other room and grab their weapons. Then the worse part about it was they never even returned to be with the Ambassador. One returned to be with the Ambassador with his rifle. The other two went back to where there were [sic] barracks. And two stayed in that same building where there were radios and other weapons and the safe and other stuff was there.

There were no shots fired in return. On the embassy property, just the embassy property, none of those security agents blasted a single bullet from a single pistol or rifle at all in defense of the Ambassador—nothing.” http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2012/12/10/Benghazi-Source-Unarmed

The same methods apply to selling candidates, and the Obama organizations were far more effective than Romney’s at exploiting their understanding of our habits and desires.  They had a great deal of specific information about voters, and were able to target individuals with a degree of accuracy that was vastly superior to the Republicans’ methods.  Listen to one of my favorite commentators, Debra Saunders:
Team Obama conducted nightly surveys of 9,000 likely voters in 10 battleground states. Because of those surveys, campaign manager Jim Messina told the gathering, “We thought we knew exactly where the electorate was.” The campaign’s targeting was so tight that national field director Jeremy Bird was able to see support slacken at Ohio State University and respond by multiplying the campaign’s presence. Messina claimed, “We knew exactly who we had to go get.” http://pjmedia.com/michaelledeen/2012/12/10/we-knew-exactly-who-we-had-to-go-get/?singlepage=true

A professor at the University of Texas has sparked outrage by claiming  black and Hispanic students are failing academically because they have been raised in single parent homes usually by females.
Law professor Lino Graglia was talking to the BBC when he said he could 'hardly imagine a less beneficial or more deleterious experience than to be raised by a single parent, usually female, uneducated and without a lot of money.'

Judge rules against Justice Department regulation on Obamacare; Unions now demonstrating at MI Capitol; President greets singer who wants our military dead; Raising taxes even when Obama knows it will decrease revenues; Obama's "red line" moving

Judge Brian Cogan mocked the “accommodation” on religion liberty outlined by President Obama in regards to his health care law’s contraception mandate while ruling against a Justice Department motion to dismiss the Archdiocese of New York’s lawsuit against the regulation.
“There is no, ‘Trust us, changes are coming’ clause in the Constitution,” Cogan wrote in his ruling against DOJ. “To the contrary, the Bill of Rights itself, and the First Amendment in particular, reflect a degree of skepticism towards governmental self-restraint and self-correction.”
Cogan was referring to the fact that Obama’s promise to accommodate the concerns of religiously-affiliated institutions that would have provide free contraception.

On Tuesday, unions, left-wing radicals and their allies are planning to lay siege to Michigan’s state capitol on Tuesday to protest the state lawmakers’ move to give workers the right to work for unionized companies without being compelled to pay union fees or be fired. On Saturday, according to ABC News, more than 200 union activists attended a training for Tuesday.
Between chants, cheers and applause, organizers warned those at the training to be prepared for insults and obstruction Tuesday in Lansing. The volunteers lined up on opposite sides of a long hall at UAW Local 600 in suburban Detroit and took turn turns portraying protesters and union critics.
“Humanize the situation. Be clear with your intentions. Introduce yourself,” national labor activist Lisa Fithian, of Austin, Texas, said through a megaphone. “They’re going to do everything they can to criminalize us.”
Fithian is a career community organizer known for her organizing of protests on behalf of a broad range of Marxist groups, ranging from ACORN and Code Pink to Occupy Wall Street. http://www.redstate.com/2012/12/09/michigan-madness-thousands-plan-to-lay-siege-on-state-capitol-on-tuesday-over-right-to-work-bill/

President Barack Obama has been pictured shaking hands with a South Korean rapper who sang about wanting to kill American soldiers.
PSY, born Park Jae-sang, performed at a White House charity event on Sunday, despite a deeply controversial performance in 2004 that has shocked and outraged American fans.

PSY owes his popularity to his Korean pop hit taking hold among tens of millions of American fans.
However, countless fans were offended by the lyrics from an anti-American protest song he sang that included the lines, '‘kill those f****** Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives…kill them all slowly and painfully.'

Instead, he was personally greeted by the president on Sunday night.

'Do you remember when truly talented Americans entertained at WH? Now it's the "Hate America First" trash- and Commies like Psy,' Examiner.com columnist Harriet Baldwin tweeted.

White House faces furor over Psy’s anti-U.S. lyricsThe White House deleted a petition Friday on its website demanding that President Obama rescind an invitation to “Gangnam-style” rapper Psy to sing at a Christmas concert in Washington, because of the performer’s anti-American rants.
Psy, a 34-year-old South Korean performer whose “Gangnam-style” video is the most-watched of all time, apologized Friday for making obscene comments about U.S. troops at a protest concert in 2004 in the aftermath of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. He reportedly sang:
“Kill those f–ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives.”
“Kill those f–ing Yankees who ordered them to torture.”
“Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers.”

We can’t afford the Bush tax cuts, as Obama says? We can’t afford to terminate them. Over the past 45 years, every time the capital gains tax rate has been increased, capital gains revenues have declined rather than increased. Obama’s nearly 60% increase in that rate will have the same effect. After the Bush cut in taxes on dividends, dividends paid soared, and so did taxes paid on those dividends. Obama’s near tripling of that tax will have the opposite effect as well. Indeed, if the economy declines back into renewed recession, total federal revenues will decline rather than increase.

Barack Obama as Captain Ahab
To understand the president’s worldview, it’s worth recalling some of the most revealing statements he’s made over the last four years. The first is his response to Charles Gibson during a 2008 debate with Hillary Clinton, when Obama said he would favor raising capital-gains taxes in the name of fairness–even if doing so would create a net revenue loss. The second was Obama’s comments to Joe Wurzelbacher, also made in 2008, that “when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” And the third took place in 2012 when the president said, “If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

Mr. Obama’s aim when it comes to taxes, then, isn’t, as he and other liberals often argue, simply to raise revenues. Rather, it is to advance their understanding of “fairness,” which they take to be synonymous with justice, both taken to mean that the top earners in America, at every given moment in time, aren’t sacrificing enough in the form of higher taxes. They should always pay more.

NYT: Obama retreating on “red line” for Syrian chemical weapons

When President Obama first warned Syria’s leader, President Bashar al-Assad, that even making moves toward using chemical weapons would cross a “red line” that might force the United States to drop its reluctance to intervene in the country’s civil war, Mr. Obama took an expansive view of where he drew that boundary.
“We cannot have a situation where chemical or biological weapons are falling into the hands of the wrong people,” he said at an Aug. 20 news conference. He added: “A red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus.”

But in the past week, amid intelligence reports that some precursor chemicals have been mixed for possible use as weapons, Mr. Obama’s “red line” appears to have shifted. His warning against “moving” weapons has disappeared from his public pronouncements, as well as those of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The new warning is that if Mr. Assad makes use of those weapons, presumably against his own people or his neighbors, he will face unspecified consequences.

A Major Benghazi Terror Bust -Directly tied to al Qaeda.
The captured terrorist is Muhammad Jamal al Kashef (a.k.a. Abu Ahmed), who served as a senior Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ) terrorist in the 1990s and was imprisoned for years. The EIJ was headed by Ayman al Zawahiri, who merged the group with Osama bin Laden’s operation.
After his release from prison in 2011, Kashef established training camps in Egypt and Libya. Some of Kashef’s trainees took part in the Benghazi attack, according to multiple reports.
Kashef is the most senior terrorist detained in connection with the Benghazi attack to date. Importantly, the publicly-available details of his biography show that he has numerous al Qaeda connections.

The Real Second Amendment
Limiting the power of the federal government to subjugate the populace is the primary purpose of the 2nd Amendment, and nothing in it restricts the use of arms consistent with maintaining proficiency consistent with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What we do with guns is the subject of existing criminal law, but having them is not. Arguments against the 2nd Amendment based on recreational use of arms and the futility of home defense are deflections. Under the 2nd Amendment, owning and using guns is not simply permitted, but is presumed; local, even federal, laws and regulations cannot lawfully infringe on it. The 2nd Amendment is always susceptible to tyrants, but is vulnerable if too many of us are ignorant of its purpose.

Democrats (Heart) Socialism

Americans are used to and take for granted lives of material plenty, including but not limited to automobiles, comfortable housing, AC in the summer and heat in the winter, markets bursting with affordable food, pain-free dentistry, ample and affordable clothing, and frippery such a cable television, all enjoyed in safety behind the strongest military shield the world has ever seen. When these things become increasingly dear, or disappear from the scene altogether, many will have no idea how this sorry state of affairs came about. Those charmed by the socialist delusion and who are obsessed with redistributing wealth in a more "fair" way never seem to wonder where the wealth came from in the first place

Footprints on the Sand of Time

As the world unravels on Barack Obama’s watch, conservatives might want to take some solace in sayingWe told you so! But they shouldn’t. First of all, it’s not as if the Romney campaign or the GOP congressional leadership or most conservative organizations really spent much time bothering to warn of the consequences of Obama’s foreign policy. And in any case, there’s not much solace to be had, as the world coming apart threatens the well-being of America, not just the success of Barack Obama’s second term.

Education's Great Divide: My Time in the Trenches

In thinking about how valuable education is in cultivating the next generation of Americans, my mind took me back nearly twenty years to when I was a graduate student functioning as a substitute teacher at La Puente High School in Southern California.  On one assignment, I was to cover a social studies class of some old-timer; he had written down in his instructions that since his classes were on a field trip, my sole duty was to show a movie at 6th period to those who did not attend.  What I found that day opened my eyes

Obama’s Broken Promises to Sandy Victims

Six weeks after Sandy hit the New Jersey and New York coast, residents are still struggling and in desperate need of shelter. Many hard-hit victims are not getting help despite President Barack Obama’s pledge of the full support of the federal government, and they are dealing with red tape the president saidwould not be tolerated.

In the Red Hook community of Brooklyn, N.Y., many residents are still living in their unheated, powerless homes in freezing temperatures. Help from the government for residents has not come.
