Health Care for 2013

Concerning the National Endowment for the Arts....Patrick Courrielche: I was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to take part in a conference call that invited a group of rising artist and art community luminaries “to help lay a new foundation for growth, focusing on core areas of the recovery agenda – health care, energy and environment, safety and security, education, community renewal.” I was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts to attend a conference call scheduled for Monday August 10th hosted by the NEA, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and United We Serve. The call would include “a group of artists, producers, promoters, organizers, influencers, marketers, taste-makers, leaders or just plain cool people to join together and work together to promote a more civically engaged America and celebrate how the arts can be used for a positive change!” Backed by the full weight of President Barack Obama’s call to service and the institutional weight of the NEA, the conference call was billed as an opportunity for those in the art community to inspire service in four key categories, and at the top of the list were “health care” and “energy and environment.” The service was to be attached to the President’s United We Serve campaign, a nationwide federal initiative to make service a way of life for all Americans.

The people running the conference call and rallying the group to get active on these issues were Yosi Sergant, the Director of Communications for the National Endowment for the Arts; Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement; Nell Abernathy, Director of Outreach for United We Serve; Thomas Bates, Vice President of Civic Engagement for Rock the Vote; and Michael Skolnik, Political Director for Russell Simmons.

We were encouraged to bring the same sense of enthusiasm to these “focus areas” as we had brought to Obama’s presidential campaign, and we were encouraged to create art and art initiatives that brought awareness to these issues. Throughout the conversation, we were reminded of our ability as artists and art professionals to “shape the lives” of those around us. The now famous Obama “Hope” poster, created by artist Shepard Fairey and promoted by many of those on the phone call, and william’s “Yes We Can” song and music video were presented as shining examples of our group’s clear role in the election.

The New York Post reports that "the federal government needs to hire more than 270,000 workers for "mission-critical" jobs over the next three years, a surge prompted in part by the large number of baby-boomer federal workers reaching retirement age, according to the results of a government-wide survey being released Thursday. The numbers also reflect the Obama administration's intent to take on several enormous challenges, including the repair of the financial sector, fighting two wars, and addressing climate change".

Well, this is indeed a jobs program for Obama.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One plain fact should outweigh all the words of Barack Obama and all the impressive trappings of the setting in which he says them: He tried to rush Congress into passing a massive government takeover of the nation's medical care before the August recess-- for a program that would not take effect until 2013! In his speech to the American public, he noted: "The time for bickering is over," Obama said to sustained applause before a joint session of Congress. "The time for games has passed." Obama called the tumultuous summer, during which a growing number of people questioned his ability to handle the health care issue, "a partisan spectacle" fueled by "bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost." If you misrepresent what's in the plan, we will call you out. [It's so nice to have a President who threatens to come after his adversaries, but refuses to address the misrepresentations in his pontifications. He must feel that if he lies and misrepresents often enough, at least those who adore him will believe].
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
Barack Obama will cement the new co-operative relationship between the US and the United Nations this month when he becomes the first American president to chair its 15-member Security Council. [You say you haven't heard this? It begs us to figure out what this might mean or portend.....]

Miami -Arrest warrants have been issued in Miami for 11 people suspected of falsifying information on hundreds of voter registration cards last year. The FBI and state authorities were making arrests Wednesday. The workers being sought were hired to register voters by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. Prosecutors say they were first notified by ACORN about problems with workers in June. Several ACORN members in Baltimore were fired after explaining to a pimp and a prostitute on how they can game the system, even going so far as to advise listing 13 underage sex slaves from a foreign country as being their dependents..
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility has begun an official inquiry into the dismissal in May of a civil complaint against the New Black Panther Party and two of its members who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place during the November general elections.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sample of speech-watchers in the after-Obama's-speech poll was 45 percent Democratic and 18 percent Republican. And we wonder why the poll says Americans, following Obama's speech, favor government health care by a wide margin???
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As reported in the American Spectator on Aug. 24, Mr. Yearwood explained that the administration wants to take Sept. 11 back from the right. The minister and others kept saying that they wanted Sept. 11 to be used for something "positive," "forward-leaning" and "productive," a confidential source who listened to the call told me.

Their plan is to convert what the left considers a "day of fear" that helps Republicans into a day of activism that helps the left, the source said. "They think it needs to be taken back from the right," the source said. "They're taking that day, and they're breaking it because it gives Republicans an advantage." [I guess Obama really doesn't believe his own words that he will bring bipartisanship and civility to our country....]

The Power of a President to Fundamentally Change America

This is from the American Thinker: Could a form of martial law be imminent? Obama appears ready to cross the Rubicon, and all he needs is a killer virus. Remember President Obama’s Executive Order basing 80,000 active troops at home for the first time in the history of the peacetime military establishment to “help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack….”

Now connect that information to the recent announcement that the military has established regional deployment locations all across the United States to “assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.”
The National Guard is even practicing mock takeovers of public schools in the event of an “H1N1 riot,” a description that elicits mixed responses. What kind of riot could arise out of a flu that has only killed 1,000 worldwide? Washington certainly seems to be looking for some rationale for enhanced domestic military involvement, whether credible or not.
With impeccable timing, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has gone before Congress asking for the unprecedented authority to base 400,000 soldiers in communities all across the United States.
Thousands of doctors have voiced strong opposition to the proposed swine flu vaccine, due to its association with neurological disorders. No matter, a bill before the Massachusetts State Senate would permit authorities to enter homes and detain without warrant citizens who do not agree to be forcibly vaccinated. Iowa just released a new Orwellian quarantine policy directive that states in the event of a swine flu outbreak, “your home and other less restrictive alternatives are not acceptable.” These moves appear to be the result of federal incentives advancing mandatory vaccination.

All of this would be less of a concern if we had a President with less radical beliefs, one who has not promised a "fundamental change" in America. I would ask why it is not the National Guard who is being trained for these actions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obama has repeatedly implied the need to “break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution….” by saying: "The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of basic issues of political and economic justice in this society, and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as it has been interpreted.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Obama Justice Department has now announced that they will be in the business of sending government lawyers out to comb the countryside to look for racism (loosely defined) and fill the court system with lawsuits.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr., in an interview with the New York Times, said that 50 more attorneys were being hired for the division and that it would now aggressively pursue “high-impact civil rights” cases in such areas as voting rights, housing, employment, bank lending practices and redistricting after the 2010 Census.

As part of this shift, the Obama administration is planning a major revival of high-impact civil rights enforcement against policies, in areas ranging from housing to hiring, where statistics show that minorities fare disproportionately poorly. President George W. Bush’s appointees had discouraged such tactics, preferring to focus on individual cases in which there is evidence of intentional discrimination.

In other words, they'll be flooding the courts with cases against business policies and practices, based on statistics (with are NEVER manipulated) instead of focusing on real instances of discrimination.

The President of the United States is now thinking that it will be good policy to shut down all personal computers in the event of an "emergency". Bruce Henderson says of Jay Rockerfeller's Bill S773 that is "makes no attempt to outline and describe what form of emergency would trigger the use of these broad new powers to limit communication, nor any means by which it could be reviewed by anyone outside the executive branch. The bill also proscribes that the executive branch will perform periodic mapping" of private networks deemed to be critical, and those companies "shall share" requested information with the federal government.

From CBS News, regarding the Obama Congress's proposed bill to shut down private internet if our President declares a state of emergency (doesn't he do that every week or month?) "Translation: the U.S. government bureaucracy will be spending your tax dollars to figure out private networks, find choke points and places where they can control the flow of communication. Furthermore, companies (such as your ISP) are going to be required, by law, to supply the federal bureaucrats with whatever network, account, usage and history information they deem appropriate. All in the name of cyber safety, you see.

If that were not enough of an outrage, the bill also establishes federal indoctrination and certification for cyber security professionals. It would require companies that the executive branch deemed "critical" to adopt restrictions on who it could hire to work with network security to a limited pool of those who had undergone government training and certification. You might assume from this that the private sector was completely lacking in any certification or training in cyber security. In fact there is a robust and growing business (aka a "free market") for this type of training that the government would now control and regulate".

Part of Obama's speech to our school children is the following: "Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn". It really is all about him, isn't it? He uses the word "I" 56 times!

More Big Government

School Districts in Six States to Refrain from
Showing Presidential Address Next Week

ABC News, by Jake Tapper & Karen Travers

As Michelle Malkin stated:

This is why informed parents do not trust the Educator-in-Chief and his "comrades." You can take Obama from the radicals in Chicago. But you can't take the Chicago radicalism out of Obama.

Ken Klukowski writes about a school system in New Hampshire, where "a home-schooling mother has been ordered to put her daughter in public school because the daughter is too outspoken in her Christian beliefs, a terrifying truth emerges: If you can force a child into government schools, you can control that child’s mind.

Why? Because the court order expresses the judge’s concern that the daughter shares “her mother’s rigidity on questions of faith.” In other words, the girl is a devout, evangelical Christian. The court wrote that she must be exposed to “multiple systems of belief,” and so must attend a secular school."

[Our President has backed down now from asking students to write about what they can each to to "help" our President. That's a demonstration of his empty suit status, as far as I am concerned. Either that or it is a demonstration of his true agenda. And, showing once again the lack of leadership our President has in his resume, it has recently come to light that some of the largest school systems in the country (those whom Obama should be targeting with his message) will not even be open yet when the big speech day arrives: Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and Seattle among them]..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Powerline nicely summarizes the problems with (now former) Obama Administration official Van Jones: Who do they have in the White House? A self-proclaimed Communist. A vulgar Marxist twice over. A supporter of cold-blooded cop killer Mumia Abu Jamal. A 9/11 Truther . A racist hater, whose hatred extends to the United States. And insofar as his current job is concerned, we have a man who sees the "green jobs" con as a tool for for overthrowing capitalism. We have, in short, the complete left-wing nightmare package.
Top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett has said, "So, Van Jones, we were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House; we were watching him. . .for as long as he's been active out there.
Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., the first lawmaker to call for Jones' resignation, is asking Obama to
"suspend the appointment of additional ''czars'' until Congress has a chance to examine the background and responsibilities of such individuals, as well as determine the constitutionality of such appointments.

Now that Jones is out of the way, Republicans are turning their fire on czars in general.

Sen. Lamar Alexander, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, called the czars "an affront to the Constitution" since they are not approved by Congress.

As David Sirota of Salon wrote: This is a serious tragedy for the progressive movement on three levels. First and foremost, Jones was one of the only movement progressives in a policymaking position in the Obama White House. By that I mean, he was one of the only people in the White House who came out of grassroots movement work and not just political/partisan hack work, and one of the only movement progressives put in a policymaking job, and not ghettoized into a political/tactical job. Whenever I got sick to my stomach at the thought of Obama's Team of Corporate Zombies - people like Rahm Emanuel, Tim Geithner, Larry Summers and Jim Messina - running the show, I was able to at least tell myself that hey, someone like Van Jones is at least in there somewhere fighting the good fight as he always has. No more - and that's a damn shame."

[Once again President Obama has been forced to give up part of his radical agenda, espoused by himself, his appointees, and his Czars. Van Jones has resigned.... but not his agenda, I am certain.]

As is the fact that the first item on the Senate agenda when they return is a bill to create a new and unnecessary government tourism advertising agency.
