News from Washington, Jakarta, Michigan & Illinois

Sorry, Readers: once again the blog site is letting words run off the page.......
Here is more on the gang that can't learn from the past, and continue to show
who they are and what they believe: [Do you recall Obama saying on one of the
late night shows that he bowls like a retard? - Wasn't that funny? Not!] Now
White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel offered a personal mea culpa on
Wednesday to advocates for the disabled who were offended that he used the
phrase "f---ing retarded." As
reported by The Wall St. Journal: The friction was
laid bare in August when Mr. Emanuel showed up at a weekly strategy session
featuring liberal groups and White House aides. Some attendees said they were
planning to air ads attacking conservative Democrats who were balking at Mr.
Obama's health-care overhaul.

What would you think about someone who either doesn't have the education to
be able to correctly pronounce the word corpsman, or has not enough regard for
our military to know how to pronounce it correctly? Would you pronounce the
word, as he did, as corpse-man? I didn't think so. I suppose this person might
pronounce the word colonel as ko-low-nol. It's quite a shame that it is the
President of the United States, the highly educated, most intelligent "messiah"
who mispronounced it three times in a speech given yesterday. He just loves
the military, don't we know. I know, I wouldn't believe it without seeing it either.

Michigan's Attorney General is announcing the following: On Thursday, my office
is filing a renewed motion to immediately close the locks in Chicago. You may
remember that last month the Supreme Court denied our initial request, which was supported by five other states. However, we asked the Court to take another look
because it was unaware at the time that eDNA tests showed evidence of Asian carp
in Lake Michigan, making the situation more urgent. We also submitted information
from a transportation expert that shows the potential costs to the Great Lakes vastly outweigh any potential costs for Chicago that result from closing the locks.
[It is
not only fishing which will be negatively impacted. The safety of swimmers, skiers,
and recreational boaters will be in danger, which will just about kill the most
important industry in Michigan - tourism.

JAKARTA - A statue of US President Barack Obama as a boy will be removed
from a park in the Indonesian capital due to public opposition, officials said Friday,
just weeks before Obama visits his old hometown. (Snip) The statue of "Little Barry"
-- as Obama was known to his Indonesian school friends -- was designed by
Indonesian artists and depicts the boy Obama dressed in shorts and a T-shirt with
a butterfly perched on his hand.
The decision comes after 56,500 people joined a
page on social networking website Facebook calling for the statue to be removed
and replaced by a memorial to an Indonesian identity. This news comes from
Yahoo! News, among others.... [I'm happy for Obama to be in Jakarta where
once again he will be able to hear (and to share with his daughters), as well
perfectly chant along with, the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer,
reciting them, as he can, with a "first-rate accent]
. From a former NYTimes
article: "In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated, Mr. Obama
described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth
at sunset.”

The Boston Herald is reporting: The Kennedy political dynasty is shaking in the aftershock of U.S. Sen. Scott Brown’s earth-shattering election, with a new poll
showing U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy losing ground as he faces a well-financed GOP
foe backed by Brown’s top strategists. The WPRI-12 poll showed the Rhode
Island Democrat with a 56 percent unfavorability rating in his district - a
negative that grows to 62 percent statewide.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/02/lech_walesa_stumps_for_conserv.html From
the Gdansk Lenin Shipyards to the city of the Back of the Yards, Lech Walesa, former President
of Poland, and preeminent community organizer, attended a fundraiser on Friday, January 29, to
endorse Adam Andrzejewski (an gee eff skie) who is one of six Republicans seeking the
nomination of his party for Governor of Illinois.
Lech WALESA (via translator): The United States is only one superpower. Today
they lead the world. Nobody has doubts about it. Militarily. They also lead
economically but they're getting weak. But they don't lead morally and politically
anymore. The world has no leadership. The United States was always the last
resort and hope for all other nations. There was the hope, whenever something
was going wrong, one could count on the United States. Today, we lost that hope.
The issue with the banks; and the government wastes all the money; they build a bureaucracy; just for itself.
He went on to reassure: But we will not let you devolve to communism here.
[Here's what he would do:] One, I open up their spending. Show me the money, every
dime, online, in real time. That's my phrase for transparency. Barack Obama ran on it, and
he lied to you.

I'll open it up from the top of the appropriations down to the subcontractor level where the
systemic corruption exists.

Two, is a forensic audit from the top with a $55 billion budget...we can save $3 billion to
$5 billion by following the money. If you think about it, it's how we got Al Capone.

Organanizing For America Using Saul Alinsky's Rules For Radicals

http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2010/01/obama-youth-organizing-for-america.html
One of Pamela Geller's readers sent her an astounding document: a high school application for employment at Barack Obama's personal political wing: Organizing for America (OFA).

Students at Perry High School in Masillon Ohio appear to be among the recruiting targets of OFA. Included on the 20-page application is a recommended reading list that includes the most radical propaganda literature imaginable. Prominent on the list: Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, which is a step-by-step guide to the violent overthrow of the United States government.
"Radicals precipitate the social crisis by action – by using power… The Radical recognizes that constant dissension and conflict is and has been the fire under the boiler of democracy. He firmly believes in that brave saying of a brave people, 'Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!'" -- Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals

"The Radical may resort to the sword but when he does he is not filled with hatred against those individuals whom he attacks. He hates these individuals not as persons but as symbols representing ideas or interests which he believes to be inimical to the welfare of the people… That is the reason why Radicals, although frequently embarking upon revolutions, have rarely resorted to personal terrorism." -- Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals

It would seem that once one is in the habit of bowing to one's superiors in the Middle East, the habit becomes so ingrained that one would then bow to a mere city Mayor - this time in Tampa: http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/slideshow/photo//100128/480/b07861589f354ce698c3bf88b741d692/ What on earth is he doing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Regarding Obama's declaration of his Budget deficit, know this. In order to keep the deficit from soaring even higher, he has used money coming in from a bill which may never pass to help pay for his agenda: Cap and Trade. Also, he has said that Bush increased the deficit by an amount far larger than he did, and in truth, Obama in one year has increased the deficit by three times what Bush and the Democrat-controlled Congress did - with then Senator Barack Obama voting for all raises in spending with which he was presented......
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In speaking of his budget, President Obama said:

"In order to meet this challenge, I welcome any idea, from Democrats and Republicans ... It's time to hold Washington to the same standards families and businesses hold themselves. It's time to save what we can [nothing], spend what we must [well, everything IS a crisis], and live within our means once again [only after he spends ever more during this year, for he must wait for the elections in November to begin the hurtful cuts]."

The Wall Street Journal reports that "it [Obama's budget] would almost double the national debt in just four years from 2008, to $11.5 trillion in 2012. That is more than the entire accumulated national debt for the first 225 years of U.S. history." [THEN we will really have to get serious......]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.lasvegasnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=11922804 [It's "empty suit" time once again]: President Obama has written a letter of apology to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid regarding comments made Tuesday about trips to Las Vegas.

In his letter, the president called Las Vegas "one of our country's great destinations". [And, Mr. President, it should be pointed out to you that there is far more to do there than just gamble.]

During the president's town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, he discussed the need to curb spending during tough economic times. "When times are tough, you tighten your belts," the president said. "You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college." [Mr. President, perhaps it is time that you and your wife demonstrate to us how committed you are personally to that goal. It is our money you are spending, both in your federal budget and in your personal expenditures on the taxpayers' dime - such as $450 room service lunches for 2, a staff for your wife of 21 when most First Ladies have had 2 to 6.]

Indeed, his budget would almost double the national debt in just four years from 2008, to $11.5 trillion in 2012. As the Wall Street Journal reported last week, "That is more than the entire accumulated national debt for the first 225 years of U.S. history."

Meanwhile, using Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, Judicial Watch reports: "there thousands of pages of travel documents related to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s use of military aircraft.

What hasn’t been revealed so far is that military aircraft are being used to shuttle Pelosi’s kids and grandkids between DC and San Francisco without any Congressional representatives even onboard! Put simply, the United States Air Force is serving as a multi-billion dollar chauffeur- and baby-sitting service for Nancy Pelosi’s kids and grandkids — presumably because commercial travel is beneath the families of the autocrats".

AP reports: The Air Force Academy has set aside an outdoor worship area for Pagans, Wiccans, Druids and other Earth-centered believers, school officials said Monday.

A double circle of stones atop a hill on the campus near Colorado Springs has been designated for the group, which previously met indoors.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the LA Times: Reporting from Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan - The U.S. Marines and Afghan army plan a massive assault on Taliban fighters in Marja, the last community under Taliban control in a sprawling, lawless region once dominated by the insurgency, a top Marine said Wednesday. "We are going to gain control," Col. George "Slam" Amland told reporters. "We are going to alter the ecosystem considerably."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chris Matthews [again!]: "What's going on out there in the Republican Party is kind of a frightening, almost Cambodia re-education camp going on in that party, where they're going around to people, sort of switching their minds around saying, if you're not far right, you're not right enough". The survivors of the Khmer Rouge, a regime abetted by actions of the Left, would probably think that providing citizens with the truth is not nearly as bad as the killing of nearly 2 million people.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Richmond Times Dispatch reports: With five Democrats defecting, the Virginia Senate today passed a Republican measure that says Virginians don't have to buy health insurance. Voting 23-17, the Democratic-controlled Senate kicked to the House a bill by Sen. Frederick Quayle, R-Suffolk, that supporters say will send a message to Washington about its efforts to overhaul the health-care system. Quayle said the legislation is important, because it's a way of telling Congress that Virginians believe the federal government is overstepping its authority.

If Washington can mandate health insurance, Quayle said, it could also require Americans to buy domestic automobiles as a way to help that ailing industry.

Ahmadinejads Threats, The Foibles of Obama

With the Drudge Report headline today quoting Iran's Ahmadinejad as saying, "Iran will deliver harsh blow to global arrogance on Feb. 11," comes this report from the U.K. Guardian: Tension between the US and Iran heightened dramatically today with the disclosure that Barack Obama is deploying a missile shield to protect American allies in the Gulf from attack by Tehran.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jan/31/iran-nuclear-us-missiles-gulf The US is dispatching Patriot defensive missiles to four countries – Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait – and keeping two ships in the Gulf capable of shooting down Iranian missiles. Washington is also helping Saudi Arabia develop a force to protect its oil installations.

American officials said the move is aimed at deterring an attack by Iran and reassuring Gulf states fearful that Tehran might react to sanctions by striking at US allies in the region. Washington is also seeking to discourage Israel from a strike against Iran by demonstrating that the US is prepared to contain any threat.

The deployment comes after Obama's attempts to emphasize diplomacy over confrontation in dealing with Iran – a contrast to the Bush administration's approach – have failed to persuade Tehran to open its nuclear installations to international controls. [Now who among us could have guessed that?]

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1247338/Terrorists-plan-attack-Britain-bombs-INSIDE-bodies-foil-new-airport-scanners.html Britain is facing a new Al Qaeda terror threat from suicide ‘body bombers’ with explosives surgically inserted inside them. Until now, terrorists have attacked airlines, Underground trains and buses by secreting bombs in bags, shoes or underwear to avoid detection. But an operation by MI5 has uncovered evidence that Al Qaeda is planning a new stage in its terror campaign by inserting ‘surgical bombs’ inside people for the first time.

More than 500 quake victims have been treated in Florida hospitals, with hospitals in other states also having taken in injured Haitians, according to the Times. The evacuations have stopped, as several states have said they will need help actually paying for the medical care.

Rich Lowry opines: Yesterday came word that [this administration] is considering keeping KSM in Gitmo for a military commission after all, in what would be a crushing admission that its rush to shutter Gitmo was disastrously misconceived.

The Bush administration set up a military commission system, endorsed by Congress and blessed by the Supreme Court, tailored precisely for these cases. It gave unprecedented due-process protections to detainees while protecting national security information from disclosure. The trials would be safely held at Gitmo, a state-of-the-art facility designed for the purpose and a place where millions of innocent bystanders don't work and live.

KSM told a military judge he was ready to confess and move on to the execution phase. Most people would consider that a neat conclusion to the matter, but not Eric Holder. He intervened to short-circuit that process and bring KSM and four other terrorists here for trials that would cost as much as $1 billion to secure and paint an even brighter target on the city. The most embarrassing thing Janet Napolitano did on Wednesday turns out not to be napping during her boss’ State of the Union speech. Instead, as CNS News reports, [and a video confirms] the Secretary of Homeland Security apparently ditched a meeting with Congress over the handling of the EunuchBomber. Even Democrats want an answer to the question, “Where the is Secretary Napolitano?” The surprise was that it was Democrats doing most of the attacking. “She was invited to testify at this very important hearing, and she should have been here,” said Jane Harman, Democrat from California.

Bob Diamond, president of Barclays , supported the idea of a global levy, which could see banks contribute tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars over a period of years. “I think every G20 country would like to have an insurance scheme that would help cover the cost of any future bank failure,” he told the FT at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “A co-ordinated global system is preferable to an unlevel playing field.” [More global government is coming our way, as this demonstrates. Doesn't this sound like Obama's declaration to Joe the Plumber about the need to "spread the wealth around? Is there a possibility that this fund will give banks even more reason to take risks, since risk of failure will be insured by the fund? This won't cost us even more money to borrow, will it?]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quin Hillyer of American Spectator has this to say about Obama's meeting with the Republicans on Friday: " I am watching him act like a haughty, angry, self-righteous, self-reverential [man] in his meeting with House Republicans right now, and he is lecturing them like they are teenagers. What an arrogant so-and-so. He repeatedly accuses House Republicans of lowering the tone of debate, and denies that his side has done ANY politicizing or any insults, etc. This is just outrageous. His tone was utterly inappropriate, his body language even worse. That was not a polite give-and-take (although Republicans were certainly polite); it was a stern, rhetoric-filled, in-your-face lecture. He acts as if nobody ever has the right to question him seriously -- not only are they not to question his motives, but his assumptions, his purity, his conclusions, and his own sense of his own exaltedness. This is a man with the soul of an authoritarian. And that is dangerous. [Well - that went well...]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

President Obama's fiscal 2011 budget will project hundreds of billions of dollars in new federal revenue from a proposed comprehensive cap-and-trade climate law, according to Democratic aides -- despite dimming prospects for enacting such legislation this year. [Would this be considered to be trickery? His chances for Cap and Trade have diminished along with his chances for government-run health care.]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fox News reports: The U.S. has canceled a $25 million federal contract for work in Afghanistan awarded to a company owned by a Democratic campaign contributor without entertaining competitive bids. The cancellation comes after Fox News first reported on the details of the contract last week, prompting lawmakers to make inquiries into the deal. State Department Spokesman P.J. Crowley told Fox News that USAID terminated the award and is now working on an appropriate resolution. [You see - the "new media" and our screams are being heard!]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul Krugman of the NYT: Ezra Klein finds Rahm Emanuel’s apparent willingness to let health reform slide into the indefinite future very depressing. So do I. And it’s not just health reform that will die under this approach — it’s the road to a caretaker presidency. [We must not let our guard down. Some democrats are in the back room dealing to pass this health care bill as we speak.]
