Just
why am I posting these stories for you to read? I am trying to
convince you that you
need to take an active role in learning just what your children are
being taught. You need to stand up for what is right, to demonstrate to
your children that you are willing to take a stand against progressive
education.

A classroom of 14 and 15-year-old Illinois high school students were assigned the task of deciding the fate of ten fictional characters in an exercise that critics called a lesson in death panels.
The assignment was part of a
sociology unit for freshmen and sophomore students at St. Joseph-Ogden
High School and was first reported by writer Lenny Jarratt.
The lesson involves 10 people who are in desperate need of kidney dialysis. But there’s a problem. The local hospital only has enough machines to support six patients. “That
means four people are not going to live,” the assignment states. “You
must decide from the information below which six will survive.” [Preparing our children for serving on Death Panels, perhaps? This ought to make them feel oh, so safe.]

“The first thing I thought was they were desensitizing kids to death panels,” he told me. “They are preparing them for it.”
Principal Brian Brooks told me that assessment is way off base. “The
assignment has nothing to do with a ‘Death Panel,’” he said. He said the purpose of the lesson
was to teach students about social values and how people in our society
unfortunately create biases based off of professions, race and gender.

Parents were upset after Carrick High School approved a plan to have a Trayvon Martin theme day during the school’s homecoming.
The homecoming committee, and school voted and approved the theme which is part of school spirit week.
Parents were upset that kids were being encouraged to wear hoodies to school during the Wednesday theme. http://pittsburgh.cbslocal. com/2013/10/07/parents-upset- after-trayvon-martin-day- planned-during-local- homecoming-week/
------------------------------Take a look at these third grade Common Core worksheets [Correction: Common Core-aligned worksheets].*
The
first story for third graders takes a twisted social work approach to
learning.
The first worksheet is the tale of
Peter and Patty. It’s a terrible piece of literature (I’m using the word
‘literature’ very loosely). It’s about a father who abandons his
children in the woods but wishes them well; some woman in the woods
takes them in, feeds them fruits and vegetables (she must have been
listening to Michelle Obama); and they all live happily ever after.
Seriously???The next story is about a cheating husband and father, and,
again, it’s for third grade. http://www. independentsentinel.com/ common-core-reaches-a-new-low- check-this-out/

Leave it to government bureaucrats to think
that government transparency efforts should somehow be shrouded in
secrecy when vetting Common Core testing.
That’s
exactly what’s happening in Utah, where state education officials are
asking members of a parent review committee tasked with scrutinizing the
new Common Core-aligned standardized tests “to sign a nondisclosure
agreement that could muzzle them from discussing the test questions with
other parents,” reports The Salt Lake Tribune.

Is it an extreme case of helicopter parenting or a smart move to keep kids safe?
That's what parents are
asking after hearing about a Long Island middle school's decision to ban
most balls during recess and also require supervision of tag, even
cartwheels, due to safety concerns. http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/09/ living/parents-middle-school- bans-balls-recess/index.html? hpt=hp_t2

The text of the note (don’t we all love these little school notes?) reads:
Dear Parents,I have received word from Federal Programs Preschool pertaining to lunches from home. Parents are to be informed that students can only bring lunches from home if there is a medical condition meriting a specific diet, along with a physicians note to that regard.I am sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact [name redacted], the Health Coordinator for Federal Programs Preschool at [number redacted].
Linda says she was “hurt,” “confused,” and “dumbfounded” by the
school’s insistence the nanny-staters feed her child instead of her. This is what happens with big government – it goes from best-pal to bully in a heartbeat. http://www.ijreview.com/2013/ 10/86357-read-federal- programs-note-telling-parents- need-doctors-note-make-kids- lunch/

You have to give
school officials in Los Angeles credit for a good idea [I for one am not
certain this was a good idea]:
put iPads in the hands of over 650,000 students to give them the most
advanced learning tools available in an effort to boost their interest
in academics.
But the $1 billion plan is taking some heat after students in the
nation's second-largest school district cracked the tablets’ security
settings to forgo reading, writing and ‘rithmetic and instead post on
Facebook and play games during class time. http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/---------------
The Wausau, Wis. School District says it’s okay to jingle bells and
don gay apparel but lay off the Baby Jesus stuff – and that has parents
and students ready to deck somebody’s halls.
The community became enraged after the elementary schools canceled
their upcoming Christmas concerts and the school district issued
guidelines that curtailed the number of sacred holiday songs the high
school choir could perform.
Phil Buch, the director of the Wausau West High School choir programs
since 1981, told the Wausau Daily Herald that he was given three
choices after meeting with school officials about the upcoming yuletide
season.
He was told the choirs could perform one sacred song for every five
secular songs performed; eliminate all Christmas music or postpone
December concerts. http://nation.foxnews.com/ 2013/10/08/starnes-wisconsin- school-cracks-down-religious- christmas-music?cmpid=NL_ foxnation

Sixth-grade children in many Texas public schools are being tasked with designing flags for a new socialist nation as part of the state's curriculum, EAG News reported Monday.
"Notice socialist/communist nations use symbolism on their flags
representing various aspects of their economic system. Imagine a new
socialist nation is creating a flag and you have been put in charge of
creating a flag," says a lesson plan being used as part of CSCOPE, the curriculum being used by over 70 percent of Texas school districts. http://www.examiner.com/ article/texas-6th-graders- assigned-to-design-flag-for- new-socialist-nation

If You Learned Your Kid Was in a School Play Containing Bestiality and Incest, How Would You React?
[The students were forced to read the play out loud, including the parts out loud.]
That’s the news many parents received when it came to light that drama teacher Andrew Cupo of Cactus Shadows High School
in Scottsdale, Ariz., introduced students in an advanced acting class
to an absurdist play called “The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?” by Edward
Albee. In the Tony Award-winning play — which students performed in class rather than in public — a middle-aged man with a wife and teenage son admits he’s in love with a goat named Sylvia with whom he’s had sex, the Arizona Republic reports, adding that the play also explores themes of tolerance, morality, and revenge [including incest].

MORE PORNO RECOMMENDED BY COMMON CORE — THE BLUEST EYE
[Macey has heavily edited the following excerpts from “The Bluest Eye” by Toni Morrison, but they are still very graphic. Obviously the reason behind some parents calls for removing the book are the graphic depictions of incest, rape and pedophilia. And not just that, the book actually lets the reader see the depictions from the perpetrators point of view.
Please read the rest of Macey’s article posted at: http://politichicks.tv/column/
