A Letter To Barack Obama; New CBO Numbers; Investigation into Black Panther Case; No Time for Condolences

further if you would like.  As President Ronald Reagan warned, "If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, we will be one nation gone under."
This letter is signed by 42 Representatives.

And by the way, Mr. President: American Spectator is reporting:  The Congressional Budget Office, in an email to Capitol Hill staffers obtained by the Spectator, has said that repealing the national health care law would reduce net spending by $540 billion in the ten year period from 2012 through 2021. That number represents the cost of the new provisions, minus Medicare cuts. Repealing the bill would also eliminate $770 billion in taxes. It's the tax hikes in the health care law (along with the Medicare cuts) which accounts for the $230 billion in deficit reduction. http://spectator.org/blog/2011/01/07/breaking-cbo-says-repealing-ob

Floyd Reports writes: New Congressional leaders have begun their investigations into the most potent scandal facing the Obama administration, one that seems destined to expose injustice at the highest levels of government. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-TX, the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has opened a probe into the Justice Department’s handling of the Black Panther case in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder. Smith is looking into whether the case’s dismissal, and the underlying culture of the department’s Voting Rights division, show a decision to deny justice to a broad category of Americans based on race. In the five-page letter, Smith writes, “Allegations that the Civil Rights Division has engaged in a practice of race-biased enforcement of voting rights law must be investigated by the Committee.” http://floydreports.com/the-investigations-begin-holder-on-the-hot-seat-in-black-panther-case/?utm_source=Expose+Obama&utm_campaign=c251d2a20d-EO_01_07_20111_7_2011&utm_medium=email

Fox News reports: It was bad enough that after Sgt. Sean Collins was killed in Afghanistan his parents received a senator's letter of condolence with the wrong name.
But the soldier's father says the White House added to the sting by subsequently turning down a request for President Obama to personally call Collins' mother.
Pat Collins, a retired lieutenant colonel, told Q13 FOX in Seattle that the family was told last month that the president could not fit it "into his schedule" to call mother Linda Collins about their son's death. Pat Collins, who initially made the request with the White House, said he would've understood, except for the fact that around the same time, Obama found an opening in his schedule for a much-publicized phone conversation with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.

I'd Like to Make You a Business Offer

Porter Stansberry, who writes a well known investment advisory newsletter,  writes: I'd like to make you a business offer.

Seriously. This is a real offer. In fact, you really can't turn me down, as you'll come to understand in a moment...

Here's the deal. You're going to start a business or expand the one you've got now. It doesn't really matter what you do or what you're going to do. I'll partner with you no matter what business you're in – as long as it's legal.

But I can't give you any capital – you have to come up with that on your own. I won't give you any labor – that's definitely up to you. What I will do, however, is demand you follow all sorts of rules about what products and services you can offer, how much (and how often) you pay your employees, and where and when you're allowed to operate your business. That's my role in the affair: to tell you what to do.

Now in return for my rules, I'm going to take roughly half of whatever you make in the business each year. Half seems fair, doesn't it? I think so. Of course, that's half of your profits.

You're also going to have to pay me about 12% of whatever you decide to pay your employees because you've got to cover my expenses for promulgating all of the rules about who you can employ, when, where, and how. Come on, you're my partner. It's only "fair."

Now... after you've put your hard-earned savings at risk to start this business, and after you've worked hard at it for a few decades (paying me my 50% or a bit more along the way each year), you might decide you'd like to cash out – to finally live the good life.

Whether or not this is "fair" – some people never can afford to retire – is a different argument. As your partner, I'm happy for you to sell whenever you'd like... because our agreement says, if you sell, you have to pay me an additional 20% of whatever the capitalized value of the business is at that time.

I know... I know... you put up all the original capital. You took all the risks. You put in all of the labor. That's all true. But I've done my part, too. I've collected 50% of the profits each year. And I've always come up with more rules for you to follow each year. Therefore, I deserve another, final 20% slice of the business.

Oh... and one more thing...

Even after you've sold the business and paid all of my fees... I'd recommend buying lots of life insurance. You see, even after you've been retired for years, when you die, you'll have to pay me 50% of whatever your estate is worth.

After all, I've got lots of partners and not all of them are as successful as you and your family. We don't think it's "fair" for your kids to have such a big advantage. But if you buy enough life insurance, you can finance this expense for your children.

All in all, if you're a very successful entrepreneur... if you're one of the rare, lucky, and hard-working people who can create a new company, employ lots of people, and satisfy the public... you'll end up paying me more than 75% of your income over your life. Thanks so much.

I'm sure you'll think my offer is reasonable and happily partner with me... but it doesn't really matter how you feel about it because if you ever try to stiff me – or cheat me on any of my fees or rules – I'll break down your door in the middle of the night, threaten you and your family with heavy, automatic weapons, and throw you in jail.

That's how civil society is supposed to work, right? This is America, isn't it?

That's the offer America gives its entrepreneurs. And the idiots in Washington wonder why there are no new jobs...

Regards,

Porter Stansberry

I Don't Care!

British housewife speaks out
I thought you might like to read this letter to the editor of a British national newspaper. Three cheers! Our local papers would not print this, I'm pretty sure....  This is an email that is making the circuit.  Whether truly from this woman, I don't know.  It doesn't matter to me who wrote it - it is a good one!  Maybe we should all submit it to our papers to see what would happen.

Written by a housewife, to her daily newspaper. This is one ticked off lady.

'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores in July 2002, and in New York on 11 Sept 2001, and have continually threatened to do so since?

Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day in London , and in downtown Manhattan , and in a field in Pennsylvania ?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11 and 7/7.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of Nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the British media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:

I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank:

I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner - who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and 'fed special food' that is paid for by my taxes - is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:

I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, believe me!! you guessed it ......

I don't care!!

'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world.  Our soldiers don't have that problem.'

Woman Arrested While Constitution Was Being Read in House. Condolences Not Given; Commerce Department fo Create an Internet ID for Americans?

Fox News reports: The words “mother” and “father” will be removed from U.S. passport applications and replaced with gender neutral terminology, the State Department says.
“The words in the old form were ‘mother’ and ‘father,’” said Brenda Sprague, deputy assistant Secretary of State for Passport Services. "They are now ‘parent one’ and ‘parent two.’"
A statement on the State Department website noted: “These improvements are being made to provide a gender neutral description of a child’s parents and in recognition of different types of families.” The statement didn't note if it was for child applications only.

American Thinker writes: Kenneth Artz of the Heartland Institute explains, "Section 6001 of the health care law effectively bans new physician-owned hospitals (POHs) from starting up, and it keeps existing ones from expanding." Politico adds, "Friday [New Year's Eve] marked the last day physician-owned hospitals could get Medicare certification covering their new or expanded hospitals, one of the latest provisions of the reform law to go into effect."

This little-noticed but particularly egregious aspect of Obamacare is, by all accounts, a concession to the powerful American Hospital Association (AHA), a supporter of Obamacare, which prefers to have its member hospitals operate without competition from hospitals owned by doctors. http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/01/obamacare_stops_construction_a.html

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

American Spectator writes: But there is socialist method behind the madness. Obamacare raises health insurance costs by mandating that health insurers provide expensive new benefits. That is why it was so obvious that Obamacare will raise health insurance costs. But now come the federal regulators who plan to dictate to the insurers that they cannot reflect those costs in higher premiums.
State insurance regulation is consequently simply a matter of mathematics. The regulators analyze the cost data, and the actuarial probabilities, and they set premiums based on that data sufficient to allow the insurance company only a modest, reasonable, market rate of return on its operations. As a result, the hard numbers unquestionably show that health insurance companies only make modest if not below average profits at best. That is why in many states there are so few health insurance companies left, and so many of those that remain are actually non-profits.
It will work just like the Democrats' "affordable housing" policies worked in causing the financial crisis. First the regulators forced banks to lend mortgage money to so many who were not financially qualified under traditional lending standards. Bill Clinton bragged in 1995 that through this scheme he had found a way of spreading housing prosperity to so many "without costing the taxpayers a dime."
Your average grassroots Democrat supporter can't understand that if the law forces health insurance costs up with required new benefits, but the insurance company can't raise premiums to cover those higher costs, the company goes out of business.
But this is exactly what the Reds who now run today's modern Democrat party want. They are planning precisely to use this new federal rate regulation power to drive private insurers out of business, so the only option left will be the outright socialized medicine public option that first the public and then the Congress rejected in the health care "debate" last year. Hence the foundation for the new organization, Democrats Against Democracy. http://spectator.org/archives/2011/01/05/obamacares-dirty-tricks

The LA Times reports: San Francisco-based Blue Shield said the increases were the result of fast-rising healthcare costs and other expenses resulting from the new healthcare laws passed last year. “We raise rates only when absolutely necessary to pay the accelerating cost of medical care for our members,” the company told its customers last month. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/money_co/2011/01/rate-increase-by-blue-shield-of-california-prompts-criticism.html

Newsbusters reports: MSNBC's Ed Schultz on Wednesday called Republicans bastards that want to destroy the American dream.
Apparently recognizing that he might have gone too far, the "Ed Show" host apologized moments later

I will fight these bastards every night at 6 o’clock because I know what they’re up against. I know what they want to do. They want to take down American workers. They want to outsource jobs. They want to destroy the American dream. Concentrate the wealth to the top, and control minorities. That’s what they’re about.

The People's Republic of China has more miles of track for high-speed trains than any country in the world, but California has none.
The Chinese want in on the state's fledgling high-speed rail project. They're eager to help bankroll and build the system and, eventually, provide the trains to operate on the tracks.
China's not alone. Eight nations have agreements with the California High-Speed Rail Authority to share information about high-speed rail -- and each wants a piece of California's business.

A woman was arrested in the House gallery Thursday after interrupting a reading of the Constitution by yelling out her belief that President Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States.

When Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) read the part of Article II, Section 1 mandating that only a "natural-born citizen" may be president, the woman, seated in the front row of the public gallery, screamed "Except Obama, except Obama. Help us Jesus."

An officer removed her from the gallery as she yelled out "My name is Theresa."
[I just happened to come across this today: The analysis by the Congressional Research Service, a research arm of the U.S. Congress, openly admits no one in the federal government, including Congress, ever asked to see Obama's long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate. It explains no one was required to do so.] http://jeffersonsrebels.blogspot.com/2010/11/congressional-research-service-explains.html

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama, in a setback to hopes for the quick closing of the Guantanamo Bay prison, reluctantly signed a bill on Friday barring suspects held there from being brought to the United States for trial.
Making plain he would fight to repeal language in the law obstructing civilian U.S. trials for Guantanamo terrorism suspects, Obama said he was left with no choice but to sign the defense authorization act for fiscal 2011.
"Despite my strong objection to these provisions, which my administration has consistently opposed, I have signed this act because of the importance of authorizing appropriations for, among other things, our military activities in 2011," Obama said in a statement. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110108/pl_nm/us_obama_guantanamo_detainees

CBS News reports: President Obama is planning to hand the U.S. Commerce Department authority over a forthcoming cybersecurity effort to create an Internet ID for Americans, a White House official said here today.
It's "the absolute perfect spot in the U.S. government" to centralize efforts toward creating an "identity ecosystem" for the Internet, White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt said.
That news, first reported by CNET, effectively pushes the department to the forefront of the issue, beating out other potential candidates including the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. The move also is likely to please privacy and civil liberties groups that have raised concerns in the past over the dual roles of police and intelligence agencies.
The announcement came at an event today at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, where U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Schmidt spoke. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501465_162-20027837-501465.html

Intel Trends May Be On To Something Important

[While I note that our own media is not reporting on this, I do realize that our media have stopped efforts to conduct investigative journalism.  I am curious enough about the following to bring it to you, and will inform you of its eventual veracity.]
Intel Trends reveals: A shocking report prepared for Prime Minister Putin by the Foreign Military Intelligence Directorate (GRU) states that one of the United States top experts in biological and chemical weapons was brutally murdered after he threatened to expose a U.S. Military test of poison gas that killed hundreds of thousands of animals in Arkansas this past week.
It's important to note about Iraq’s Phosgene poisonous gas stocks are that they are no longer able to be made by any Western country, including the United States, which makes its value as a Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) incalculable, especially in a war situation like Afghanistan where the enemy forces are firmly entrenched in hostile terrain.
To the direct reason for Wheeler’s murder, this report says, was this past week’s transport of Iraqi Phosgene poisonous gas aboard a U.S. Air Force KC-767 tanker aircraft from Little Rock Air Force Base enroute to Afghanistan that shortly after takeoff had a ‘critical malfunction’ of its aerial spraying computer directed command and control system over central Arkansas causing the deaths of thousands of red-wing blackbirds.
According to U.S. reports an estimated 5,000 of these birds were killed outright and were quickly removed by U.S. Environmental Services workers wearing hazmat suits and gas masks. Another U.S. report states that cause of death to these thousands of birds was “trauma in the breast tissue, with blood clots in the body cavity and a lot of internal bleeding” which this GRU report states is consistent with Phosgene exposure.
Even more chilling than this incident is this GRU report stating that it was the second “accidental” release of Phosgene poisonous gas in as many days, as the day before, this same U.S. Air Force KC-767 tanker aircraft also had a “critical malfunction” causing a release over the Arkansas River that killed over 100,000 fish. http://inteltrends.wordpress.com/2011/01/04/top-u-s-official-murdered-after-arkansas-weapons-test-causes-mass-death/
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to Wikipedia: According to the Federation of American Scientists: "...Though sometimes compared to the US Defense Intelligence Agency, [the GRU's] activities encompass those performed by nearly all joint US military intelligence agencies as well as other national US organizations. The GRU gathers human intelligence through military attaches and foreign agents. It also maintains significant signals intelligence and imagery reconnaissance and satellite imagery capabilities." [1] GRU Space Intelligence Directorate had put more than 130 SIGINT satellites into orbit. GRU and KGB SIGINT network employed about 350,000 specialists.[7]
According to GRU defector Kalanbe, "Though most Americans do not realize it, America is penetrated by Russian military intelligence to the extent that arms caches lie in wait for use by Russian special forces"

A Noteworthy Letter to the Tawas Newspaper Editor, With Comments from Me

Has America become the land of the special interest and the home of the double standard?  Let's see:

If we lie to the Congress it's a felony and if the Congress lies to us it's just politics.
If we dislike a black person, we're racist, but if a black dislikes whites it's their 1st Amendment right.
The government spends millions to rehabilite criminals and they do almost nothing for the victims.
In public school you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process.  [You can be taken to the local mosque to be indoctrinated, but you cannot carry a
Bible to school.]
You can kill an unborn child, but it is wrong to execute a mass murderer.
We don't burn books in America - we now rewrite them. [We rewrite them to eliminate our founding principals, to socialize and indoctrinate our children, and to put the liberal spin on all history.]
We got rid of the Communist and Socialist threat by renaming them Progressives. [They are no less threatening, for they see their time in NOW, they are desperate, and we must stop their agenda.]
We are unable to close our border with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th Parallel in Korea.
[Our Janet Napolitano made a recent visit to Afghanistan to discuss our military securing  their borders!]
If you protest against President Obama's policies, you are a possible terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in protest it is your 1st Amendment right.  [Some who have peacefully protested Obama's policies have been arrested!]
You can have pornography on tv or the internet, but you better not put up a Nativity Scene in a public park during Christmas.
We have eliminated all criminals in America - they are now called sick people. [More than that, they are called "victims?]
We can use a human fetus for medical research, but it is wrong to use an animal.
We take money from those who work hard for it, and give it to those who don't want to work.
We all support the Constitution, but only when it supports our ideology.  [This is no longer true, as it is now being described by some Congressmen and media as being unimportant and too hard to understand because it was written 100 years ago.]
We still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct. [Uber-radicals on the left are not held to this rule.]
Parenting has now been replaced with Ritalin and video games. [Let's add government programs, as publicly funded pre-schools are being promoted.]
The land of opportunity is now the land of handouts.
The similarity of Katrina and the Gulf oil spill is that neither President did anything to help. [This one is just plain wrong - as President Bush had to (constitutionally) WAIT for permission to have the Feds enter the state, the locals refused to take the directive to get out of town, and the local and state governments did nothing to prepare or mobilize.  In the Gulf oil spill, the feds did nothing in spite of being begged to have help.  In fact, Obama refused to allow several foreign companies with oil-spill clean up expertise to even participate.  Then he shut down all drilling for 6 months, putting some 40,000 people out of business and onto unemployment.]
And how do we handle a major crisis today?  The government appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens them, passes a law, raises taxes and tells us the problem is solved - so they can get back to their reelection campaigns.
What has happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave?  Ken Huber - Tawas City

Democrats Desperately Selling Obamacare - My Examiner.com Article

The map appears on this page of the Democratic Leadership Committee [sic] website (dated 2004 during the Bush years). I guess we could argue over whether the DLC counts as “senior party officials” but they’re certainly as much a part of the party as Palin who, after all, currently holds no elected office.
[To the heroic woman who helped hold down the shooter in Tucson, I have this website for her to consider, for when asked what she has learned, she replied that she learned the people on the RIGHT caused this tragedy by name-calling and provocative words.  I would say that what we must learn is that our free speech is not what causes lunatics to go on shooting rampages, that it was her President who mentioned bringing a gun to the fight.  It is people who have no regard for human life who are to blame.  For all we know, this Congresswoman was targeted not because she was a despised lefty, but because she voted against Obamacare and Nancy Pelosi, therefore being too far to the right. Right now it doesn't matter.  We should learn to keep our incriminations to ourselves until such time that we know what actually happened.  Of course, we will all be hearing her on the mainstream media, won't we?]

Democrats are railing against the possible repeal of Obamacare, once again pitting one American against the other.  They have said that Republicans want to kill people, they want to keep people from gaining insurance when they have an existing condition, and they wish to kick children off their parents' insurance policies prior to the ripe old age of 26, among other things. They've said Obamacare will reduce the cost of health care, but fail to mention that we all are now paying extra taxes for two years before we even receive any benefits.  Democrats aim to convince Americans that insuring 30 million more people with the same number of doctors will cost less without causing us to wait longer for appointments and surgeries - leading to de-facto "Death Panels".  Recent screams of disgust have forced this Administration to take back its stealth addition of yearly end-of-life counseling for all seniors. Regulations have forced 45 doctor-owned hospitals nationwide to end construction, for they would not be able to bill Medicare for their treatments. They are claiming that we do not have to buy insurance, but fail to mention that those who don't will be penalized - which causes us to pay for 14,000 more IRS agents to enforce this directive. Over 250 companies have been given waivers from this onerous bill, so why shouldn't all companies gain this advantage?  Must you be a "friend of Obama" - or a Union?
Yes, Republicans do wish to repeal Obamacare, and then replace it with market-driven, non-government controlled changes, which Republicans were advocating to no avail throughout the writing and passing of the Health Care Bill.  The important concerns of liberals and all Americans can be addressed without giving our government control over another 1/6 of our economy.  Remember that it was bribes using our tax dollars which purchased the votes for the passage of this law.  This is the progressives' foot in the door, and as they have openly stated, puts them in the position to gradually add more and more to regulations to control all of us - except for themselves, that is.  Their final aim is universal healthcare, where every American is insured by the government. Putting insurance companies out of business with onerous regulations will do just that. The new Republican led House of Representatives must do everything in their power to stop them.  Info from: http://spectator.org/archives/2011/01/05/obamacares-dirty-tricks  and  http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/01/obamacare_stops_construction_a.html

Newsbusters writes: Newsweek's Jonathan Alter, who last year wrote a lengthy book on the first year of Barack Obama's presidency, looked very displeased on Dylan Ratigan's MSNBC program earlier this week when other guests concurred with accusations of corruption against the White House.
The Ratigan segment centered on a statement by Rep. Darrel Issa, R-Calif., incoming chairman of the House Oversight and Goernment Reform Committee, that Obama's is "one of the most corrupt administrations ever."
"There is zero evidence" of corruption, he insisted. When fellow guest Tim Carney, a Washington Examiner columnist, disagreed, Alter demanded Carney produce evidence. So he did.  Among the list:
• Obama officials meeting off campus for official business for the sake of avoiding the Presidential Records Act.
• And this nugget from the same NYTimes piece: "Two lobbyists also cited instances in which the White House had suggested that a job candidate be “deregistered” as a lobbyist in Senate records to avoid violating the administration’s hiring restrictions."
• The firing of AmeriCorps Inspector General Gerald Walpin. As my colleague Byron York has explained: "The method of Walpin's firing could be a violation of the 2008 Inspectors General Reform Act, which requires the president to give Congress 30 days' notice, plus an explanation of cause, before firing an inspector general."
• Giving a car company (Chrysler) to a political entity that spent millions to get you elected. This deal involved alleged threats by a since-indicted car czar to knee-cap investors who didn't want to agree to the White House's deal.

More Democrat Plans

7) Fox News writes: Under the guise of a "referendum" (set for 9 January 2011) that will be observed by a 110-person European Union team of imperial busybodies, Sudan's primarily Christian south will be severed from the Sudanese nation-state, setting the stage for a continuation of the decades old Muslim-Christian Sudanese civil war. The difference will be that henceforth - as is occurring in Somalia - the U.S. and the West will be obliged to protect the new nation they created by theft and oil lust with diplomacy, funding, arms, military training, and eventually troops.
And what is America's interest in becoming involved to the hilt and inextricably in Sudan? What is so vital to the United States in Sudan that President Obama is pressing the leaders of Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and the other states of the African Union to support "our intense interest in having a successful referendum" - read that as "our intense interest in carving up Sudan to suit our imperial purposes and corner access to Sudanese oil." (As an aside, one must admit Rudyard Obama is nothing if not an aggressive proponent of improving - that is, "Westernizing" - the lives of "our little brown brothers," although the blatant theft of Islamic land is a rather odd component for the kinder and more gentle "Muslim outreach program" Obama announced in Cairo and Jakarta.)
The answer is that Obama, our bipartisan political elite, the mainstream media, and the rich, immature, libertine, and anti-U.S. Hollywood set lead by Clooney, et al, want to feel good about themselves by doing "good" for foreigners. For these elite U.S. citizens-of-the-world, ordinary Americans and their kids can starve, freeze, live on the streets, fail to find work, and remain illiterate forever. In essence, they can rot while Washington spends their taxes on Darfur - a place where absolutely no genuine U.S. interest is at stake.

8) National Review reports: The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division has no time to pursue voter-intimidation cases against black defendants. But it has plenty of time to pursue local school boards that make common-sense decisions about student dress codes and accommodations for teachers’ religious practices.
The contrast between what the division does and doesn’t regard as important reveals a radical ideology on the loose — and the willingness of this administration’s political appointees to abuse the civil-rights laws they are supposed to enforce. http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/255994/civil-rights-gone-wild-hans-von-spakovsky

9) Breitbart reveals: The Obama administration says 13 companies whose deepwater drilling activities were suspended last year may be able to resume drilling without detailed environmental reviews. Companies will be allowed to resume work at previously drilled wells, as long as they meet new policies and regulations. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9KH2DOG0&show_article=1

10) The NYT writes:  legal advisers, confronting the prospect of new restrictions on the transfer of Guantánamo detainees, are debating whether to recommend that he issue a signing statement asserting that his executive powers would allow him to bypass the restrictions, according to several officials.
One provision bars the military from using its funds to transfer detainees to the United States, making it harder to prosecute them in federal court. Another prohibits the transfer of detainees to any other country unless the defense secretary, Robert M. Gates, certifies that the country has met a strict set of security conditions.
The deliberations over whether Mr. Obama should challenge those provisions were reported Monday by ProPublica, an investigative journalism site, and were confirmed by several officials familiar with the discussions.
Before the vote on the bill last month, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. told Congress that the restrictions would be “an extreme and risky encroachment on the authority of the executive branch.” But lawmakers included them in the final legislation anyway, and Mr. Obama is considered unlikely to veto the measure because it authorizes billions of dollars for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/04/us/politics/04gitmo.html?_r=1

11) “Net neutrality” rules must be implemented for content control while the government should quintuple federal funding for public and community broadcasting, Ben Scott, the State Department’s recently appointed policy adviser for innovation, argues. http://patriotupdate.com/1077/look-who-wants-500-bump-in-funding-for-government-media

12) From Congress.org: Democrat Jim Webb sent a letter to Barack Obama saying: In a further indication that the "North American Union" agenda is quietly proceeding under what remains of the Security and Prosperity Partnership initiative in the Obama administration, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano signed an agreement in Mexico with little fanfare that would extend special "trusted traveler" access to the U.S. to an estimated 84 MILLION MEXICANS.

"In Mexico City, Secretary Napolitano and Mexican Ministry of the Interior Secretary José Francisco Blake Mora signed an agreement expressing their intent to develop a Global Entry international trusted traveler pilot program between the United States and Mexico - leveraging the success of the United States' Global Entry program to facilitate secure, legitimate travel between the two nations," announced a DHS statement Nov. 30.

Under the SPP, the U.S., Mexico and Canada organized some 20 different "shadow government" bureaucratic working groups composed of agency heads and undersecretaries in the three nations. The groups spanned a wide range of policy areas, from e-commerce, to aviation policy, to borders and immigration, trilateral travel, transportation, energy, environment, food and agriculture, health and financial services.
Frequently reported, beginning in 2006, that the SPP was intended to implement a stealth plan to produce a North American Union composed of the United States, Mexico and Canada.

13) President Barack Obama named veteran political manager William Daley to be his new chief of staff Thursday, selecting a centrist with Wall Street ties to help navigate a newly divided Congress and a looming re-election. [Don't forget that William Daley, was Al Gore's Campaign Manager in 2000 and initiated 90% of the re-count strategy that occurred in Florida. He is the son of Richard Daley, ex-Mayor of Chicago, and brother of Richard Daley Junior, present Mayor of Chicago.   Rahm Emmanuel will probably inherit that job. Does this put a different perspective on the appointment? By setting Rahm Emanuel and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs free from White House work, they are now able to run Obama's reelection campaign.  So this looks to be all about helping Obama get re-elected, and about having yet another man experienced with rough-and-tumble Chicago politics in charge at the White House.]

Addendum to yesterday: Asked last weekend in a televised interview how he planned to stop U.S. EPA regulation of carbon -- rules he says have the potential to inflict serious harm on the economy -- House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton mentioned only one specific strategy: using the Congressional Review Act. [There is a major problem with this plan.  This must be done within 60 Legislature days of the regulation, and that time period is over... It is easy to believe that this was one well thought out plan of the Dems, to do it so that the time would expire before the new Congress was seated - a farewell gift.]

Some Democrat Plans for 2011 - More Plans in Tomorrow's Blog.....

Responding to the request of one of my readers, I hereby report on some of the plans of Democrats in this Congress: look for more tomorrow.
1) According to our President: "If the Republicans have ideas for how to improve our healthcare system, if they want to suggest modifications that would deliver faster, more effective reform ... I am happy to consider some of those ideas," Obama told a news conference at the White House.  [There are two problems with this statement: Obama has been saying this for several years and has done none of it; and he is the one who proudly said we Republicans have to sit in the back of the bus - ok, car.]

2) The Obama administration plans to pursue the White House's global warming agenda through new rules and regulations issued by existing federal agencies, without Congressional edict.
a) Fox News reports: After failing to get climate-change legislation through Congress, the Obama administration plans on pushing through its environmental policies through other means.
On Jan. 2, new carbon emissions limits will be put forward as the Environmental Protection Agency prepares regulations that would force companies to get permits to release greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.
Critics say the new rules are a backdoor effort to enact the president’s agenda on global warming without the support of Congress, and would hurt the economy and put jobs in jeopardy by forcing companies to pay for expensive new equipment. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/12/28/white-house-plans-push-global-warming-policy-gop-vows-fight/
b As David Limbaugh wrote: "Texas, for example, has adamantly refused to roll over for the administration's climate commands, so the EPA is preparing to subsume greenhouse gas permitting authority indefinitely in that little obstreperous state."
        c) Also from David Limbaugh: Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has decreed that the Bureau of Land Management will establish new rules to make it more difficult to develop natural resources on government-owned land, which will also drive up the cost of gas and electricity and increase our dependency on foreign energy sources. All these developments serve as a nice complement to Obama's seven-year ban on drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.[This, as the same time our government loans billion of dollars to Brazil to do offshore drilling of its own.]
        d) Front Page Magazine reveals: This Administration is also putting more and more lands into government control. Front Page Magazine wrote:  Have you heard of the “Great Outdoors Initiative”? Chances are, you haven’t. But across the country, White House officials have been meeting quietly with environmental groups to map out government plans for acquiring untold millions of acres of both public and private land. It’s another stealthy power grab through executive order that promises to radically transform the American way of life. The federal government, as the memo boasted, is the nation’s “largest land manager.” It already owns roughly one of every three acres in the United States. This is apparently not enough. At a “listening session” in New Hampshire last week, government bureaucrats trained their sights on millions of private forest land throughout the New England region. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack crusaded for “the need for additional attention to the Land and Water Conservation Fund — and the need to promptly support full funding of that fund.”
Property owners have every reason to be worried. The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) is a pet project of green radicals, who want the decades-old government slush fund for buying up private lands to be freed from congressional appropriations oversight. It’s paid for primarily with receipts from the government’s offshore oil and gas leases. Both Senate and House Democrats have included $900 million in full LWCF funding, not subject to congressional approval, in their energy/BP oil spill legislative packages. The Democrats have also included a provision in these packages that would require the federal government to take over energy permitting in state waters, which provoked an outcry from Texas state officials, who sent a letter of protest to Capitol Hill last month: http://frontpagemag.com/2010/08/16/obamas-land-deal-power-grab/

3) Lawmakers say Nancy Pelosi is consulting marketing experts about building a stronger Democrat brand. The most prominent is Steven Spielberg, it is rumored, though Spielberg has denied it.  Lawmakers said Spielberg has not reported to Pelosi with a recommendation.

4)  I think it’s unAmerican.” (to enforce immigration law), said Ms. Pelosi to an Hispanic audience, and refused to clarify the statement when Fox News called her office later on for comment.

5) Politico wrote in late 2010: There has been growing pressure from liberals in Congress for President Barack Obama to be more aggressive in tapping into Wall Street’s wealth to help finance Main Street job-creation programs. Just Thursday, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Oregon) and Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) helped introduce a labor-backed bill that would impose a .25% tax on securities transactions in hopes of raising $150 billion for deficit reduction and jobs related programs including highway transportation projects.
“We need a shift in priorities in this country to ask not what America can do for Wall Street, but ask what Wall Street can do for America,” said Harkin,

Business lobbies are watching with growing alarm. Pelosi, like Brown, has argued that any such fee must be imposed on transactions around the globe in order to protect the competitiveness of major exchanges such as those in New York and London.

“I believe the transaction tax still has a great deal of merit,” Pelosi said, and if agreement can be reached among the G-20 nations, “It is really a source of revenue that has really minimal impact on the transaction but a tremendous impact on helping us meet our needs. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30200.html

6) The Huffington Post wrote: Senate Democrats will make a dramatic effort to reform the rules of the chamber when the next Congress begins, one of the body's primary filibuster-reform advocates said Wednesday morning.
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), who has championed a weakening of the procedural mechanism that allows the minority party to hold up legislation, predicted "fireworks" on Jan. 5, 2011 -- the day on which the Senate can, he argued, revamp its rules by a simple majority vote.
"[Former Sen.] Robert Byrd in 1975, the last time that we changed the rules and [brought the filibuster threshold] from 67 [votes] down to 60, actually stated on the floor that a majority, 51 senators, could change the rules. And that's what we intend to do and that is what we are working on right now. We are coming on the fifth to basically send a motion to the vice president ... that will change the rules and there is a procedure to provide 51 votes to do that. Robert Byrd said that in 1975 and that's what we are going to try to do."
Essentially, that path to reform requires Vice President Joe Biden -- who supports weakening the filibuster -- to rule on the first day of the next session that the Senate has the authority to write its own rules. Republicans, presumably, would immediately move to object, but Democrats could then move to table the objection, setting up a key up-or-down vote. If 50 Democrats voted to table the objection, the Senate would then move to a vote on a new set of rules, which could be approved by a simple majority. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/15/tom-harkin-filibuster-reform-fireworks_n_797019.html

Net Neutrality; Stimulus Money Buys Detroit Schoolchildren's Computers; Brian Williams' Schmegeggy; Deficit Reduction High Priority of Last House; Federal Debt Ceiling Deal; High Oil Prices Must Delight Obama

Patriot Update writes: “Net neutrality” rules must be implemented for content control while the government should quintuple federal funding for public and community broadcasting, Ben Scott, the State Department’s recently appointed policy adviser for innovation, argues.
Scott’s writings, last year in a radical magazine, were in an article co-authored by Robert W. McChesney, an avowed Marxist activist who has called for the dismantlement “brick-by-brick” of the U.S. capitalist system, with America being rebuilt as a socialist society.
McChesney is the founder of the George Soros-funded Free Press, which petitions for more government control of the Internet and news media. http://patriotupdate.com/1077/look-who-wants-500-bump-in-funding-for-government-media

Detroit Public Schools will spend $49 million in federal money to push technology in the district, including distributing 40,000 new laptop computers to students in grades 6-12 for use in class, as well as more than 5,000 new desktop computers

The massive technology infusion totals 50,000 pieces of equipment -- including 4,300 printer/scanners and more than 500 HP desktop computers for the 138 early childhood classrooms in the district. [There is already a report that one of the teachers has tried to pawn her computer.  This demonstrates the Law of Unintended Consequences, doesn't it?]

NBC's Brian Williams, on air travel: "They go, they go right in. This new thing, they go right after Dave and the twins. ... And here is my first candidate to be a Quote of the Year 2011, as reported by Fox News: At her final press conference as House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said, "Deficit reduction has been a high priority for us. It is our mantra, pay-as-you-go."
The numbers tell a different story.
When the Pelosi Democrats took control of Congress on January 4, 2007, the national debt stood at $8,670,596,242,973.04. The last day of the 111th Congress and Pelosi's Speakership on December 22, 2010 the national debt was $13,858,529,371,601.09 - a roughly $5.2 trillion increase in just four years. Furthermore, the year over year federal deficit has roughly quadrupled during Pelosi's four years as speaker, from $342 billion in fiscal year 2007 to an estimated $1.6 trillion at the end of fiscal year 2010. http://nation.foxnews.com/nancy-pelosi/2011/01/04/speaker-pelosi-leaves-whopper

National Review opines: Unlikely as it may seem at the moment, I’m becoming more and more convinced that congressional Republicans can get a lot — in terms of spending cuts, entitlement reforms, and the like — in exchange for agreeing to raise the federal debt ceiling at some point in the next few months.
My argument is dead simple.
P1) The debt ceiling won’t be raised without a ‘yea’ vote from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.)
P2) Senator Graham said on Meet the Press that
“I will not vote for the debt ceiling increase until I see a plan in place that will deal with our long-term debt obligations, starting with Social Security, a real bipartisan effort to make sure that Social Security stays solvent, adjusting the age, looking at means tests for benefits. On the spending side, I’m not going to vote for debt ceiling increase unless we go back to 2008 spending levels, cutting discretionary spending.”
P3) The debt ceiling must be raised.  http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/256230/why-republicans-will-get-lot-exchange-raising-debt-ceiling-daniel-foster

Financial Times writes: High oil prices threaten to derail the fragile economic recovery among developed nations this year, the leading energy watchdog has warned, putting pressure on the Opec oil cartel to increase production.
“Oil prices are entering a dangerous zone for the global economy,” said Fatih Birol, the IEA’s chief economist. “The oil import bills are becoming a threat to the economic recovery. This is a wake-up call to the oil consuming countries and to the oil producers.”
[I am sure this pleases our President, as the next item will demonstrate.]

PajamasMedia writes: While campaigning for the presidency in 2008, Barack Obama spoke to the $4 a gallon gasoline prices Americans were facing by making it clear he had no problem with gas prices at that level. He simply “would have preferred a gradual adjustment” toward that price. In other words, he wasn’t bothered that gasoline hit $4 a gallon, just that it did so too quickly.
Fortunately for the American consumer, shortly after fuel prices had skyrocketed to those levels they dropped enough that when Obama took office they were hovering around $1.81 a gallon. But two years into the Obama presidency, and one offshore drilling moratorium later, prices are well over $3 a gallon in much of the country and climbing fast. http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/when-gas-hits-four-dollars-a-gallon-will-it-be-slow-enough-for-obama-this-time/

Abraham Lincoln's Warning; Bush and Obama Criminally Offered Positions for Favors; Death Panels Secret Passage; Auto Czar Settles Suit with $10 Million Fine

Abraham Lincoln issued this warning in his inaugural address: “Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government and form a new one. This is a most valuable and sacred right – a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Floyd Reports: This weekend, the Republican Congressman responsible for investigating presidential misconduct said that Barack Obama’s decision to offer a position to Joe Sestak as an incentive for him to drop out of a Democratic primary “was a criminal event under the law” — and that he is going to do absolutely, positively nothing about it.

ISSA: It is in fact an example of misconduct, in my opinion. Now, what happened throughout this process — and I’ve made this very clear — is we’ve discovered the problem’s bigger than that. It’s bigger than President Obama.
President Bush’s people said we did the same thing. Guess what? It was a criminal event under the law — a criminal event, when President Bush’s people did it, and I don’t know when they did it. They’ve just admitted that they did it…When you offer a position, paid or unpaid, existing statute makes it illegal to offer that job in return for affecting an election. That is — that is something we’ve got to get to stop. The American people do not want ambassadorships or any other position handed out to save a party money.

Expose Obama writes: The Democrat who started the latest national debate over the inclusion of so-called “death panels” by the Obama administration into federal regulations now regrets doing so.
The office of Representative Earl Blumenauer, an assisted suicide advocate from Oregon who works closely with pro-euthanasia groups like Compassion and Choices, alerted supporters of the change the Obama administration implemented and worked to ask them to keep the news quiet.
“We would ask that you not broadcast this accomplishment out to any of your lists e-mails can too easily be forwarded,” his staff wrote. “Thus far, it seems that no press or blogs have discovered it but we will be keeping a close watch and may be calling on you if we need a rapid, targeted response. The longer this [regulation] goes unnoticed, the better our chances of keeping it.”
The memo talked of a “quiet” victory and had the congressman worrying about how Republican leaders would “use this small provision to perpetuate the ‘death panel’ myth.”
But LifeNews.com reported on the new regulations and, weeks later, the New York Times got a copy of the memo Blumenauer wrote and the national dustup began.
Now, Blumenauer told The Hill that he regrets the secretive language used in the email, which he says he did not see beforehand. [The regulation, which was taken out of the bill because Americans despised it was then secretly put back in with even stronger language: doctors will be paid EVERY year to provide this service, not once every 5 years!.  This is a perfect demonstration of the extreme power Obamacare gives to the Secretary of Health, forever - without the consent of Congress or the governed.]  http://www.exposeobama.com/2011/01/03/oops-democrat-who-outed-obamas-death-panels-is-sorry-you-found-out/?utm_source=Expose+Obama&utm_campaign=170f51d0cc-EO_01_03_20111_3_2011&utm_medium=email

Forbes writes: The investment banker who helped lead the Obama administration’s auto industry overhaul has agreed to pay $10 million to settle influence-peddling allegations in New York.
Former “car czar” Steven Rattner admitted no wrongdoing as part of the deal, which was announced by state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo on Thursday.
Cuomo’s office had filed civil lawsuits against Rattner in November, accusing him of paying kickbacks to help his company land $150 million in state pension fund investments in 2004 and 2005. Reminding me of a proposal discussed by our own Progressives in government to convert all private 401(k)'s into government annuities which the government will inherit upon the death of the owner, the Washington Examiner writes about Europe: The most striking example is Hungary, where last month the government made the citizens an offer they could not refuse. They could either remit their individual retirement savings to the state, or lose the right to the basic state pension (but still have an obligation to pay contributions for it). In this extortionate way, the government wants to gain control over $14bn of individual retirement savings.

Do you recall how President Obama got 6 Republicans to vote yes on the new Start Treaty by saying the we would still be able to produce defensive weapons? Townhall writes: The lower house of the Russian Duma has now taken up New START, and -- surprise! -- they're insisting that limits on US missile defense capabilities are a central element to the treaty:
"During the ratification of START in the US Congress the American lawmakers noted that the link between strategic offensive armed forces and antimissile defense systems is not juridically binding for the parties. They referred to the fact that this link was fixed only in the preamble of the document. Such an approach can be regarded as the US’ attempt to find an option to build up its strategic potential and the Russian lawmakers cannot agree with this," Kosachev says.  http://townhall.com/tipsheet/GuyBenson/2011/01/03/surprise_russian_duma_to_codify_missile_defense_language_in_new_start
