Oct. 10, 20I0: In a radio interview that aired on Univision on Monday, Mr. Obama
sought to assure Hispanics that he would push an immigration overhaul
after the midterm elections, despite fierce Republican opposition.
“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, ‘We’re gonna
punish our enemies
[well, that would be Americans who would not vote for him, of course - NOT America's enemies in the Middle East] and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are
important to us,’ if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in
this election, then I think it’s gonna be harder and that’s why I think
it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2.”
[Obama during his interview on the Hispanic Univision has repeated the same direction without the "punish our enemies" language.] Obama, in an interview with talk radio host
Michael Baisden, said, "I probably should have used the word 'opponents'
instead of enemies." http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-latinos-punish-your-enemies-voting-booth_511932.html

In the Army we have an expression for an operation that is so big and
unwieldy that it has no purpose other than perpetuating itself: “a
self-licking ice cream cone.”
By way of
Amanda Carpenter in Senator Jim DeMint’s office we discover that after some half century of hard work, federal housing programs have finally reached that state.
According to the GAO, the federal government runs 160 separate housing programs.
Where are they all?
Well, HUD runs the majority of the programs, 91. The United States
Department of Agriculture, which also administers farming aid and the
nation’s food stamp program, offers 18 different types of housing
assistance as well. The Internal Revenue Service has 14 programs. The
Department of Treasury offers 8 programs; the Department of Veterans
Affairs 7; the Department of Labor 2; Federal Home Loan Banks 3. http://www.redstate.com/2012/09/20/gao-the-federal-government-runs-160-housing-programs/

Gallup’s Presidential Election tracking poll for September 5-11 had President Obama leading Governor Romney by
seven points 50% to 43%.
Now the Gallup tracking poll shows that Obama’s seven point lead has
gone up in the smoke from burning U.S. embassies. For the last two days
Obama only leads Romney by a single point. That is why the biased media
wing of the Democrats’ party is desperately trying its darnedest to
convince you the election is over.

Washington has debated and compared the responses of President Barack
Obama and Mitt Romney to last week’s attacks in Libya, but Ben Stein has
his eye on a different politician.
It’s Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who has to answer for the death
of four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador, in Benghazi, he says.
And she could start by resigning.
“I think there’s been a very, very serious breach of decorum by Mrs.
Clinton in not offering to resign over failure to protect her diplomats
adequately,” Stein, a Republican, told POLITICO.

About 3,000 Muslims
marched on the US embassy in Malaysia on Friday, burning an American
flag, over a US-made film that has sparked anger in the Islamic world.
Although
there was no violence, angry demonstrators declared their willingness
to sacrifice their lives to defend the honour of Prophet Mohammed and
warned "there will be consequences" over the film.
"We will not
allow the prophet to be insulted. We are willing to sacrifice our lives
and property," said Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, an official with the
opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), which spearheaded the
march.
Protesters shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) and held up signs denouncing the film, America and Jews.
One placard read: "Obama, our patience has its limit. Don't blame us if your citizens die. Blame yourself. U started it!" http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific/view/1227316/1/.html

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- France confirmed on Friday it
would allow no street protests against cartoons denigrating
Islam's Prophet Mohammad that were published by a French
magazine this week.
Interior Minister Manuel Valls said prefects throughout the
country had orders to prohibit any protest over the issue and
crack down if the ban was challenged.
"There will be strictly no exceptions. Demonstrations will
be banned and broken up," he said.

The U.S. Suffered Its Worst Airpower Loss Since Vietnam Last Week and No One Really Noticed
The Taliban attack on an air base in southern Afghanistan on Friday
drew coverage for
the way the insurgents cloaked themselves in U.S. army uniforms to gain
a tactical advantage, but few have taken note of the historical
proportions of the damage inflicted.
John Gresham,
at the Defense Media Network, has published a detailed account of the
attack on Camp Bastion, in which two Marines were killed, six U.S.
Marine Corps jet fighters were destroyed, and two more "significantly"
damaged. Those facts were all carried in most reports, but if that just
sounds like a typical damage report from a decade-long war, you're
wrong. Gresham explains the devastating damage done to
VMA-211,
the name of the Marine Corps attack squadron that was most affected
last week, noting that it is "arguably the worst day in [U.S. Marine
Corps] aviation history since the
Tet Offensive of 1968."
Or you could go back even further. "The last time VMA-211 was combat
ineffective was in December 1941, when the squadron was wiped out during
the 13-day
defense of Wake Island against the Japanese."

Away from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, no organized enemy
has pulled off an orchestrated attack against the U.S. of this magnitude
since 9/11. The assault is part of Obama’s record, one that demands far
more presidential candor.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The administration wanted to misrepresent what had happened. The
administration wanted to sell the story that a wacky anti-Islam video
made in America caused the violence in Cairo and Benghazi and dozens of
other cities.
That story line absolved the Obama administration of any
responsibility for what had happened. It also went a long way toward
absolving bad actors in the Muslim world of blame. There have been
indications over the last four years that, in its heart of hearts, the
Obama administration blames America first for many of the ills of the
world. On this occasion, the administration stopped hinting and came
clean. It explicitly, even eagerly, blamed America.
President Obama likes to say “the tide of war is receding.” But war
isn’t a tide, and in any case it’s not receding. We’re retreating, and
our influence is receding—and this makes war, and chaos, and terror,
more likely, not less. It is the tide of American power that’s been
receding under President Obama.
