The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued a draft of his report on the Fast and Furious scandal, which is now being poured over by DOJ officials who have 30 days to provide feedback.
One source who has seen the report told National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea today that the report is "10 times worse" than expected.http://www.examiner.com/article/oig-report-on-fast-and-furious-10-times-worse-than-expected?CID=examiner_alerts_article

The Pentagon on Thursday threatened legal action against the Navy SEAL who has written a book recounting his role in the raid that killed Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
"In the judgment of the Department of Defense, you are in material breach and violation of the non-disclosure agreements you signed" and the Pentagon is considering "all remedies legally available to us," Defense Department general counsel Jeh Johnson wrote in a letter to the author, who writes under the pseudonym "Mark Owen." http://www.breitbart.com/system/wire/TX-PAR-NWH02

Is Our President a Bit of a Jerk?

At law school, few people knew Barack Obama really well, and I wasn't one of them, although we did have some dealings when we overlapped The Harvard Law Review. But in the run up to the convention, it's clear that there are people who have had extensive dealings with him -- and they don't like him very much.  Two themes have emerged from news coverage in the last two days, and they are revealing:

(1) He's selfish:

The President does almost no fundraising for Senate or House candidates and     hasn't transferred money to other party election committees.  His numerous     campaign offices rarely coordinate with local candidates or display signs for anyone     but Mr. Obama.  At rallies, Mr. Obama seldom urges supporters to volunteer -- or     even vote -- for other     Democrats running for office. . .. He rarely shares the stage     with other candidates. http://townhall.com/tipsheet/carolplattliebau/2012/09/03/is_our_president_a_bit_of_a_jerk

A senior Obama administration political appointee and longtime aide to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano resigned Saturday amid allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior lodged by at least three Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees
In her letter to Morton, Barr said she has been the subject of "unfounded allegations designed to destroy my reputation" and is resigning "with great regret." http://news.yahoo.com/ice-chief-staff-resigns-amid-misconduct-claims-202628559.html

Those quixotic [global warming] goals just plain wouldn’t work — certainly not in China, and that means not in one-sixth of the populated world. When you see China up close and personal, with its 2,000-plus coal-generated power plants, it’s obvious that the kinds of changes proposed to fight global warming could never be implemented there. No matter how much the communist overseers wished to help the world lower its temperature, they couldn’t do so without freezing the tremendous economy of the giant nation — or fomenting a popular revolution — or both — and that means the global strategy for combating climate change is really just so much pie in the sky (or more appropriately “tilting at eco-friendly windmills”).-
But that doesn’t mean we need to automatically endorse the harumphing conclusions of social activists who proclaim “global warming” to be a done deal — and the urgency of reversing it to be the equivalent of gospel truth. Even if there has been a spike in global temperatures as the result of CO2, that doesn’t mean we can simply trade away all the benefits of coal for the self-satisfaction of thinking that we humans have the power to raise or lower the level of the oceans, as Barack Obama once declared! http://www.dailyinterlake.com/opinion/columns/frank/article_0fb03ad2-f4ab-11e1-94e8-0019bb2963f4.html

Seven months ago, Israel and the United States postponed a massive joint military exercise that was originally set to go forward just as concerns were brimming that Israel would launch a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The exercise was rescheduled for late October, and appears likely to go forward on the cusp of the U.S. presidential election. But it won’t be nearly the same exercise. Well-placed sources in both countries have told TIME that Washington has greatly reduced the scale of U.S. participation, slashing by more than two-thirds the number of American troops going to Israel and reducing both the number and potency of missile interception systems at the core of the joint exercise.
“Basically what the Americans are saying is, ‘We don’t trust you,’” a senior Israeli military official tells TIME.
The reductions are striking. Instead of the approximately 5,000 U.S. troops originally trumpeted for Austere Challenge 12, as the annual exercise is called, the Pentagon will send only 1,500 service members, and perhaps as few as 1,200.  Patriot anti-missile systems will arrive in Israel as planned, but the crews to operate them will not.  Instead of two Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense warships being dispatched to Israeli waters, the new plan is to send one, though even the remaining vessel is listed as a “maybe,” according to officials in both militaries.

Driving Ms. Jarrett

Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett enjoys full-time Secret Service detail, NYT reports
Jarrett once ordered “a drink from a four-star general she mistook for a waiter” at a White House event, according to the report.
Jarrett is identified by Times correspondent Jo Becker as the person responsible for such controversial policy decisions as the insurance mandate for contraceptives, abortifacients, and sterilization procedures contained in the Obama health care overhaul; the president’s questionable decisions to sue the state of Arizona for its immigration enforcement statute SB1020 and to allow Millennial illegal immigrants to apply for work permits without consequence; and the president’s 2009 decision to fly to Copenhagen to lobby the International Olympic Committee to select Chicago for the site of the 2016 Olympics.   http://freebeacon.com/driving-ms-jarrett/

In a rare moment of bipartisanship, the House overwhelmingly passed a bill by Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) to audit the Federal Reserve.
The first ever GAO (Government Accountability Office) audit of the Federal Reserve was carried out in the past few months due to the Ron Paul, Alan Grayson Amendment to the Dodd-Frank bill, which passed last year. Jim DeMint, a Republican Senator, and Bernie Sanders, an independent Senator, led the charge for a Federal Reserve audit in the Senate, but watered down the original language of the house bill(HR1207), so that a complete audit would not be carried out.
Nevertheless, the results of the first audit in the Federal Reserve’s nearly 100 year history were posted on Senator Sander’s webpage earlier this morning.
What was revealed in the audit was startling:
$16,000,000,000,000.00 had been secretly given out to US banks and corporations and foreign banks everywhere from France to Scotland. From the period between December 2007 and June 2010, the Federal Reserve had secretly bailed out many of the world’s banks, corporations, and governments. http://beforeitsnews.com/economy/2012/09/first-audit-in-the-federal-reserves-nearly-100-year-history-were-posted-today-the-results-are-startling-2449770.html

Organizers at the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs anticipated crowds at yesterday's "Jumah at the DNC" event in Charlotte, North Carolina would reach 20,000. Instead, only 300 Muslims showed up for the open air prayer ceremony.

The event had been listed on the schedule of events that were part of the officially sanctioned DNC/Charlotte in 2012 Host Committee's website. But less than 24 hours before "Jumah at the DNC" was held, nervous officials at the Host Committee quietly removed it from the list of officially sanctioned DNC pre-convention events.
Officials at the Host Commitee confirmed that the event was removed. As NBC reported late yesterday:
"This event, like many others on the page, was user generated," a senior Host Committee official told NBC News on Friday. "Upon further review, and because speakers for the event and statements and positions from event organizers were not appropriate and relevant to the Host Committee, Charlotte in 2012 has decided to remove the event from our events calendar."

Nearly 16 months after first pledging to help Egypt’s failing economy, the Obama administration is nearing an agreement with the country’s new government to relieve $1 billion of its debt as part of an American and international assistance package intended to bolster its transition to democracy, administration officials said.
In addition to the debt assistance, the administration has thrown its support behind a $4.8 billion loan being negotiated between Egypt and the International Monetary Fund. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Chairman of the California Democratic Party already had political pundits, delegates and rivals buzzing a day before the Democratic National Convention formally opened in Charlotte, North Carolina, after telling KCBS Radio exclusively that Republican tactics had been akin to Nazi propaganda.
“They lie and they don’t care if people think they lie,” Chairman of the California Democratic Party John Burton told KCBS Monday in Charlotte. “As long as you lie, Joseph Goebbels, the big lie, you keep repeating it, you know.” “I mean, that’s very cynical, very dangerous,” Burton said. [Minority leader Nancy Pelosi refused to condemn the leader of the Democratic Party in California after he just compared Paul Ryan to a Nazi propagandist while she was standing right there.] http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2012/09/03/kcbs-exclusive-california-dems-leader-compares-gops-to-nazi-joseph-goebbels/
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ While pundits and critics are divided over whether "2016: Obama's America" is a sobering documentary examining "the most mysterious U.S. president in modern history" or an 87-minute attack ad, there's no debating that the film is a box office phenomenon.
Taking a page from his own book "The Roots of Obama's Rage," conservative scholar Diniseh D'Souza's film has shocked industry prognosticators by earning an estimated $20 million to date, more than five times what the second-highest documentary this year, "Bully," earned. With virtually no promotional budget, the film has expanded in a little over a month from one theater in Houston to 1747 screens this weekend.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------College students from across North Carolina will arrive in Charlotte by the busload. Same with members of predominantly black churches in neighboring South Carolina.  Their goal: help fill a 74,000-seat outdoor stadium to capacity when President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination Thursday night.
