The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Justice (
DOJ) has issued a draft of his report on the
Fast and Furious scandal, which is now being poured over by DOJ officials who have 30 days to provide feedback.
One source who has seen the report told
National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea today that the report is "10 times worse" than expected.

The
Pentagon on Thursday threatened legal action against the Navy SEAL
who has written a book recounting his role in the raid that killed
Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
"In the judgment of the
Department of Defense, you are in material breach and violation of the
non-disclosure agreements you signed" and the Pentagon is considering
"all remedies legally available to us," Defense Department general
counsel Jeh Johnson wrote in a letter to the author, who writes under
the pseudonym "Mark Owen."

Is Our President a Bit of a Jerk?
At law school, few people knew Barack Obama really well, and I wasn't
one of them, although we did have some dealings when we overlapped The
Harvard Law Review. But in the run up to the convention, it's clear that there
are people who have had extensive dealings with him -- and they don't
like him very much. Two themes have emerged from news coverage in the
last two days, and they are revealing:
(1) He's selfish:
The President does almost no fundraising for Senate or House candidates and hasn't transferred money to other party election committees. His numerous campaign offices rarely coordinate with local candidates or display signs for anyone but Mr. Obama. At rallies, Mr. Obama seldom urges supporters to volunteer -- or even vote -- for other Democrats running for office. . .. He rarely shares the stage with other candidates. http://townhall.com/tipsheet/carolplattliebau/2012/09/03/is_our_president_a_bit_of_a_jerk

Those quixotic [global warming] goals just plain wouldn’t work — certainly not in China,
and that means not in one-sixth of the populated world. When you see
China up close and personal, with its 2,000-plus coal-generated power
plants, it’s obvious that the kinds of changes proposed to fight global
warming could never be implemented there. No matter how much the
communist overseers wished to help the world lower its temperature, they
couldn’t do so without freezing the tremendous economy of the giant
nation — or fomenting a popular revolution — or both — and that means
the global strategy for combating climate change is really just so much
pie in the sky (or more appropriately “tilting at eco-friendly
windmills”).-
But that doesn’t mean we need to automatically endorse the harumphing
conclusions of social activists who proclaim “global warming” to be a
done deal — and the urgency of reversing it to be the equivalent of
gospel truth. Even if there has been a spike in global temperatures as
the result of CO2, that doesn’t mean we can simply trade away all the
benefits of coal for the self-satisfaction of thinking that we humans
have the power to raise or lower the level of the oceans, as Barack
Obama once declared!

Seven months ago,
Israel
and the United States postponed a massive joint military exercise that
was originally set to go forward just as concerns were brimming that
Israel would launch a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The exercise
was rescheduled for late October, and appears likely to go forward on
the cusp of the U.S. presidential election. But it won’t be nearly the
same exercise. Well-placed sources in both countries have told TIME that
Washington has greatly reduced the scale of U.S. participation,
slashing by more than two-thirds the number of American troops going to
Israel and reducing both the number and potency of missile interception
systems at the core of the joint exercise.
“Basically what the Americans are saying is, ‘We don’t trust you,’” a senior Israeli military official tells TIME.
The reductions are striking. Instead of the approximately 5,000 U.S. troops
originally trumpeted for
Austere Challenge 12, as the annual exercise is called, the Pentagon
will send only 1,500 service members, and perhaps as few as 1,200.
Patriot anti-missile systems will arrive in Israel as planned, but the
crews to operate them will not. Instead of two Aegis Ballistic Missile
Defense warships being dispatched to Israeli waters, the new plan is to
send one, though even the remaining vessel is listed as a “maybe,”
according to officials in both militaries.
