Indiana is sick and tired of illegal aliens, and sicker still of the Federal failure to do something about them.
Last year they passed their own version of Arizona’s immigration law – which included mandatory E-Verify for all businesses, with penalties, verification of immigration status when passing out state welfare benefits, and a ban on the acceptance of Mexico’s fraud-friendly “Matricula Consular” card. Part of the law was blocked by a Federal judge, but the bulk remains in effect.
Part of that law also requires the state to calculate the annual cost of illegal aliens to the state – and bill Washington, D.C. for it. This year’s cost? $130.9 million.
Budget Director Adam Horst sent Congress a bill for the amount Friday. Congress is not expected to act on the request, however. It’s not like Indiana is asking to fund a bridge to nowhere or a Chinese wind turbine company. http://standwitharizona.com/blog/2012/07/01/go-hoosiers-indiana-sends-congress-the-bill-for-the-cost-of-illegal-aliens/

In the midst of a fiery floor debate over contempt proceedings for Attorney General Eric Holder, House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) quietly dropped a bombshell letter into the Congressional Record.
The May 24 letter to Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), ranking member on the panel, quotes from and describes in detail a secret wiretap application that has become a point of debate in the GOP’s “Fast and Furious” gun-walking probe.
The wiretap applications are under court seal, and releasing such information to the public would ordinarily be illegal. But Issa appears to be protected by the Speech or Debate Clause in the Constitution, which offers immunity for Congressional speech, especially on a chamber’s floor.
According to the letter, the wiretap applications contained a startling amount of detail about the operation, which would have tipped off anyone who read them closely about what tactics were being used.
Holder and Cummings have both maintained that the wiretap applications did not contain such details and that the applications were reviewed narrowly for probable cause, not for whether any investigatory tactics contained followed Justice Department policy. http://www.rollcall.com/news/darrell_issa_puts_details_of_secret_wiretap_applications_in_congressional-215828-1.html

Florida doctors are now free to ask if you own a gun, after a federal judge blocked a new state law which prevented doctors from asking their patients that question. Both sides see the fight as a battle of the first and second amendments.--
-The Governor’s office promises an appeal. Second amendment advocates have always feared if you are asked if you own a gun, it’ll end up in a medical record, and that information could be used later to confiscate the gun. [I presume we have the right to say it is none of their business.] http://www.wjhg.com/home/headlines/Florida_Doctors_Now_Free_to_Ask_About_Guns_129910078.html

Humans cutting down forest land to farm is nothing new. However, charging rural farmers for causing global warming is. A controversial formula is quantifying the damage villagers have to pay for their small scale farming. Now, the villagers are taking a stand against what they know is wrong.
PHETCHABUN – Early one Thursday morning, a gun was pointed at Ms. Kwanla Saikhumtung, a 34-year-old mother, because she was farming. http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/06/29/bizarre-farm-workers-threatened-at-gunpoint-for-causing-global-warming-by-harvesting-crops/

Canada Free Press contributor Doug Hagmann has reported that a longtime friend and Department of Homeland Security official revealed to him “…the uppermost echelon of the DHS is actively preparing for massive social unrest inside the United States,” and not only “…expecting and preparing for it, they are actually facilitating it.”
According to Hagmann’s DHS source, the Obama Regime—which initiates Department agenda and dominates its thinking—will proceed by implementing “economic chaos, chaos through racial division and chaos through class division, all joined by Barack Hussein Obama and his stable of unelected czars.”
For three years, the Administration has worked to destroy the private sector and destabilize the value of the dollar. It has injected race and class into every argument, setting the stage for “summer riots” organized by Regime operatives. And when economic calamity and civil unrest are at their zenith, “…a false flag event against Obama or his family, something that will outrage ‘black America’ ” will be crafted, its purpose, to “…evoke the ugliest of reactions and create racial chaos in this country that will make the Watts riots, 1968 and the Rodney King riots pale in comparison.”

Democrats have a record of flubs on NBC’s “Meet the Press” (see Joe Biden — maybe). And Nancy Pelosi almost made one this past Sunday while trying to wordsmith her way around the Supreme Court upholding Obamacare as a “tax” while the Democrats work hard to say it is not and are thus keeping to their promise of no new taxes.
That’s a hard task, as Pelosi found out. After host David Gregory pressed her on the issue, Pelosi started talking in circles and caught herself in an almost-awkward position. Politico reports:
“It’s a penalty that comes under the Tax Code,” Pelosi said on NBC’s “Meet The Press” as host David Gregory pressed her to say whether she agreed with the Supreme Court, which deemed the law constitutional because the fee used to enforce the individual mandate amounts to a tax, or with President Barack Obama, who has maintained the fee is not a tax.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It’s a ta—; it’s a penalty for free riders,” Pelosi said, nearly uttering the dreaded T-word before cutting herself off. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/pelosi-nearly-calls-obamacare-mandate-a-tax-during-contentious-wordsmithing-on-meet-the-press/
After being caught for the third time in as many months coordinating with the Obama campaign to attack Mitt Romney, the Washington Post finally -- in the most cowardly and slippery manner imaginable -- came clean today regarding the provably false charge that the presumptive GOP nominee outsourced American jobs during his tenure at Bain Capital:
Now that it's been proven Romney is only responsible for creating American jobs and not outsourcing them, Kessler wants us to believe the Post's front-page hit-piece never (who us?) claimed Romney was responsible for outsourcing.
Are you going to believe Kessler, or your lying eyes? The Post's own headline:

The New York Times reports that Mitt Romney will visit Israel to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu this summer, marking his fourth trip to the country:Mr. Romney, who has pledged to “do the opposite” of the Obama administration on matters pertaining to Israel, is also expected to meet with Salam Fayyad, the prime minister of the Palestinian Authority; President Shimon Peres of Israel; the American ambassador, Daniel B. Shapiro; and leaders of the opposition Labor Party in Jerusalem. He plans to have at least one public event in a trip that will likely last less than two days. http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/07/02/romney-trip-to-israelputs-obama-on-defensive/

"Western naiveté about the Middle East is hardly confined to Egypt," Klein Halevy writes.Last year, I was part of a group of Israelis who met in Jerusalem with Massachusetts Senator John Kerry. Mr. Kerry had just come from Damascus with excellent news: Bashar al-Assad was ready for peace with Israel. When one of the participants mentioned that demonstrations had begun to challenge Mr. Assad’s legitimacy, Mr. Kerry’s response was: All the more reason to negotiate while he’s still in power. In other words: Israel had the golden opportunity to give up the strategic Golan Heights to a dictator who might be deposed by a popular revolution, which might or might not recognize whatever peace agreement he signed. So John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee in the 2004 election, left Damascus believing that Syrian strongman "Bashar al-Assad was ready for peace with Israel." A year later, Assad would still be killing his own people--and have come no closer to a lasting peace with Israel.
All Israel had to do, according to Kerry, was give up land to a murderous dictator to achieve peace. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/glimpse-judgment-obamas-likely-second-term-secretary-state_648052.html
