You Are a Hero; Russians Yearn for Freedom of Assembly; Fed to Buy $500 Billion in Securities, Which Will Devalue the Dollar; Bush Administration AIDS Aid to Tanzania; $200 Million Per Day Visit to India

Herman Cain, inspiring us to get out the vote!  What a wonderful, inspiring speaker.  The crowd cheered when he said that he might get crazy and decide to run for President - who knows!  He would be terrific!

MOSCOW Nearly 2,000 people gathered in central Moscow on Sunday demanding freedom of assembly in a rare sanctioned rally.
The Russian opposition protests on the 31st day of each month are a nod to the 31st Article of the Russian constitution, which guarantees the right of assembly.  [Still, to stand up for freedom in Russia is a risky and wonderful thing.]

Bloomberg writes:  The Federal Reserve will probably introduce an unprecedented second round of unconventional monetary easing tomorrow by announcing a plan to buy at least $500 billion of long-term securities, according to economists surveyed by Bloomberg News.

The United States gave $151.3 million in foreign aid to Tanzania in 2006, $100 million of which was for HIV/AIDS initiatives. [And yet Obama just said that we Republicans don't give money for AIDS, right?] http://www.cfr.org/publication/15489/president_bush_travels_to_africa.html

President Obama's trip to India will cost the U.S. $200m-a-day, it was reported today.
The visit - part of a 10-trip to Asia - will take place amid unprecedented levels of security in the city of Mumbai, where terrorists killed at least 173 people two years ago.
Extreme measures to ensure the safety of President Obama will include the complete booking of the 570-room Taj Mahal Hotel for his security entourage.

Nov 29, 2007 ... #2 posted by flickersticks , November 29, 2007 10:30 AM ... This needless duplication of security effort costs money, after all -- Republicans need to learn that money ... So a three day international trip is $3M give or take a few million. .... I saw his motorcade go by (in the US) a few years ago. ...  [I am posting this comparison because I was asked to put Obama's India trip into perspective.  This is really the only thing I could come up with on Google, and I invite my readers to add more perspective to Obama's trip, as well as Michelle's trip to Spain.  I can see that in 2007 the amount of 1 million per day was considered to be outrageous. I think the request to compare is a fair and valid request.... so do help me out here if you can.]

  1. well said, very well said...I would defy anyone to come up with a more expensive foreign trip than Obama is planning for India...$200million per day ??!! That seems a bit much, even for the Arrogant-in-Chief!
