President Obama heading for another vacation.... |
The success of yesterday's mission is a tribute to our men and women now serving in Iraq .
The operation was based on the superb work of intelligence analysts who found the Dictator’s footprints in a vast country. The operation was carried out with skill and precision by a brave fighting force. Our servicemen and women and our coalition allies have faced many dangers in the hunt for members of the fallen regime, and in their effort to bring hope and freedom to the Iraqi people. Their work continues, and so do the risks. Today, on behalf of the nation, I thank the members of our Armed Forces and I congratulate them.

Here is a synopsis of Obama's speech on Usama bin Laden:
"Tonight, I can report . . . And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta . . . I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden . . . I met repeatedly with my national security team . . . I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action. . . . Today, at my direction . . . I've made clear . . . Over the years, I've repeatedly made clear . . . Tonight, I called President Zardari . . . and my team has also spoken. . .These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief . . . Finally, let me say to the families . .. I know that it has, at times, frayed. . . .."
Retired Michigan Education Association (MEA) members are being offered a free round-trip, including lodging and meals if they will go to Wisconsin and work on the recall of Gov. Scott WALKER.
Members will arrive on May 30 and participate in a one-day training workshop and begin work the next day.
Visiting workers will be given food and lodging and the National Education Association (NEA) is picking up the travel costs.
Walker also has been appealing to Michigan for help, hitting Republicans up for donations to help fight unions.
[I point out here that the Republicans are asking for voluntary donations from supporters, while the unions are using the forced union dues of ALL, without the consent of their conservative members... (See "Wisconsin Gov. Seeking Michigan Money," 5/2/12).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- President Obama's affirmation of gay marriage threatens to undermine
the near-monolithic black support Obama enjoyed in 2008. Several members
of the black clergy now say they intend to sit out the presidential
election. One poll from last November found black opposition to gay
marriage at 58 percent, higher than the rest of the country, which is
about evenly split. (See related news report)
The
real question is this: What took black church leaders so long to
reconsider their near blind support for the Democratic Party? http://www.onenewsnow.com/Perspectives/Default.aspx?id=1599590
