The Michigan Republican State Convention; Our "Citizen of the World" President; World Papers Blame Obama for Unrest in Middle East

At the Michigan Republican State Convention,  Bobby Schostak was elected State Chairman of  the Republican Party. Victor Diaz, pictured on the upper left, is the new Coalitions Vice-chairman who claims an 80% success rate in convincing homeowners to display yard signs; Eileen McNeil is outreach vice-chair; Steven Kuivenhoven is grassroots vice-chairman; Linda Lee Tarver is ethnic vice-chair; Jon Nunn is administrative vice-chair; and Sarah Ledford is the youth vice-chair whose enthusiasm and energy is amazing. Their dedication and knowledge will light the way to victory in 2012!  Being a voting Delegate was for me educational and important.  I was proud to be part of those who are proactive in selecting candidates and assuring their victory.  Precinct Delegates are the unspoken ones who make enormously important decisions for the party - grassroots, indeed.  One year ago, I was totally unaware that precinct delegates existed, much less that they are so influential.  Each day this week I will bring you some photos from the convention, a gathering of  thousands.

We appreciated the words of Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and Attorney General Bill Schuette, all newly elected.  Bill Schuette has already supported the Asian Carp lawsuit, the Repeal Obamacare lawsuit, and is defending Arizona's right to enforce their state's Immigration law. Snyder is moving to replace the unpopular Michigan Business Tax and cut business taxes overall. What an impressive start!        ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On another subject, that of our "Citizen of the World" President:
[Marc Faber, from Zurich, Switzerland, an investment guru and author of Gloom, Boom and Doom Report was recently interviewed on his opinion of Barack Obama.  I bring you his thoughts, as Obama deems himself to be a citizen of the world, and all were to love him and America if he were only President.  Mr. Faber, on the UTube video says]:
"I think he’s done a horrible job and I think that will continue, I think he is basically a dishonest person, intellectually dishonest, and change, nothing has changed."
But, but, but begs the host, to be fair, how is he compared relative to other politicians?
"Some politicians are more honest than others. I don’t think that I have a very high regard for politicians, I have a high regard for businessmen and for people who work, and not for people who abuse the system continuously. And in comparison to other politicians, I think he came in on a platform as a president that would want to change the government in Washington, and actually he’s made it worse."
The anchorette breaks in, but to be fair, he came in at a tough time, maybe he will change the system…
"You are an optimist. Keep on dreaming. We foreigners, we just laugh. we just laugh at someone like Mr. Obama."
What should he be doing? Bush wasn’t so great either…
"I was very critical of Mr. Bush, but at least he had one line and he stuck to that line, and at least he set out to do a thing and he was relatively straight on that thing that he did. He may have been wrong, and I criticized him very frequently, but at least he didn’t change his mind continuously, and didn’t prostitute himself."  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KzBn9y-W6o

APNews writes, out of Aman, Jordan: The leader of Jordan's powerful Muslim Brotherhood warned Saturday that unrest in Egypt will spread across the Mideast and Arabs will topple leaders allied with the United States.
Saeed said Arabs have grown disgruntled with U.S. domination of their oil wealth, military occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan and its support for "totalitarian" leaders in the region.
"The Americans and (President Barack) Obama must be losing sleep over the popular revolt in Egypt," he said. "Now, Obama must understand that the people have woken up and are ready to unseat the tyrant leaders who remained in power because of U.S. backing."
Saeed did not specifically name King Abdullah. But he said Jordan's prime minister "must draw lessons from Tunisia and Egypt and must swiftly implement political reforms."
"We tell the Americans 'enough is enough'," he said.

From the NY Post: But Hope and Change becomes a noxious gas when you are talking about a popular uprising by freedom fighters shaking loose the iron grip of a 30-year dictatorship.
At least that is how President Obama sees it.
From the moment he took office, Obama has misread the situation in Egypt and sided with the convenience
of tyranny over the untidiness of freedom.
Obama says he has repeatedly urged Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to reform, but those words are no match for the cover the Obama administration has offered the Mubarak regime.
Just three months into the new administration, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton visited Egypt and was asked whether Mubarak's well-documented and violent disregard for human rights made him unwelcome at the White House.
"It is not in any way connected," she replied. "I really consider President and Mrs. Mubarak to be friends of my family. So I hope to see him often here in Egypt and in the United States."

The UK Telegraph writes that America has backed the rebel leaders:
The American Embassy in Cairo helped a young dissident attend a US-sponsored summit for activists in New York, while working to keep his identity secret from Egyptian state police.
On his return to Cairo in December 2008, the activist told US diplomats that an alliance of opposition groups had drawn up a plan to overthrow President Hosni Mubarak and install a democratic government in 2011.

Big Government writes: In stark, bitter contrast to his indifference to the popular Iranian uprising in the summer of 2009, Barack Obama has almost immediately engaged in events on the ground in Egypt, and it’s not good. Obama took no such action with Iran — a jihadist terrorist state agitating in countries all over the world. That was an historic missed opportunity.
In 2009, his silence about the brutal, murderous putdown of its people by the Iranian mullahcracy amount to his tacit support of that putdown, and spoke volumes. Obama became part of the problem, not part of the solution. He gave religious barbarism the free hand. In response, Iranian protestors had a direct message for America’s president: “You’re Either With Us or With Them.”
And since then also, Obama’s most consistent response to Iran (as well as to North Korea’s hostile moves) has been to ignore them and hope that proven evildoers will behave themselves. Wrong. The good cop is off the beat.
Obama failed, and the consequences of his failure have begun to be made manifest now in Egypt. I cannot understate the importance of Egypt to American interests and Israeli security. Egypt is arguably the second-most important country to the US in the region. Mubarak has been a U.S. ally for decades. We send three billion dollars a year to Egypt. And Egypt made a peace deal with Israel.
But knowing Obama, he will throw another ally under the bus. http://biggovernment.com/pgeller/2011/01/29/obamas-carter-moment/#more-222040

Haaretz.com writes: Jimmy Carter will go down in American history as "the president who lost Iran," which during his term went from being a major strategic ally of the United States to being the revolutionary Islamic Republic. Barack Obama will be remembered as the president who "lost" Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt, and during whose tenure America's alliances in the Middle East crumbled.
The superficial circumstances are similar. In both cases, a United States in financial crisis and after failed wars loses global influence under a leftist president whose good intentions are interpreted abroad as expressions of weakness. The results are reflected in the fall of regimes that were dependent on their relationship with Washington for survival, or in a change in their orientation, as with Ankara.
America's general weakness clearly affects its friends. But unlike Carter, who preached human rights even when it hurt allies, Obama sat on the fence and exercised caution. He neither embraced despised leaders nor evangelized for political freedom, for fear of undermining stability. http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/obama-will-go-down-in-history-as-the-president-who-lost-egypt-1.340057

Dailymail in the UK writes: A man has been charged with making a terrorist threat and carrying explosives after targeting one of the biggest mosques in the U.S.
Roger Stockham, 63, was arrested last week outside the Islamic Centre of America in Dearborn, Michigan as mourners gathered inside for a funeral.
