Let's Investigate Funding of Ground Zero Mosque Critics; Stimulus For Propagana Uses; US Threatens Lawsuit Against Sheriff Joe Arpaio; AL Gore; Unemployment Escalates; Point of No Return

[Democrats think it is not pertinent, however, to find out just who is financing the Muslim mosque itself, even though our own State Department has sent the Imam on a good-will Middle East tour, on our taxpayer dollars.  It's a strange world...]

ABC News reports: The developers behind the Islamic center planned for a site near Ground Zero won't rule out accepting financing from the Mideast -- including from Saudi Arabia and Iran -- as they begin searching for $100 million needed to build the project. http://abcnews.go.com/US/Politics/islamic-center-backers-rule-taking-funds-saudi-arabia/story?id=11429998

The Hill reports: Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) on Monday accused the White House of using the stimulus tracking website Recovery.gov to disseminate propaganda.
Issa released a 37-page report documenting alleged misconduct by the Obama administration in several of its new-media projects. The report documents several instances in which government agencies allegedly promoted administration policies using federal resources.
Issa called on the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate the allegations and determine if the administration violated federal law by using taxpayers' dollars for political purposes.
Specifically, the report points to websites it claims contain false or misleading information, such as Recovery.gov and HealthReform.gov, as well as to a conference call during which a White House staff member urged artists and entertainers to support President Obama's agenda.
Rather than serve as a tool for strong oversight and transparency, "Recovery.gov became a taxpayer-funded tool to promote false and misleading propaganda to support the Democrat-backed stimulus," the report states. "The manifest inaccuracies in the data the White House used to justify its economic policies constitutes the dissemination of false propaganda by the federal government." http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-valley/technology/114653-issa-calls-recoverygov-qpropagandaq

The Washington Post reports: A federal investigation of a controversial Arizona sheriff known for tough immigration enforcement has intensified in recent days, escalating the conflict between the Obama administration and officials in the border state.
Justice Department officials in Washington have issued a rare threat to sue Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio if he does not cooperate with their investigation of whether he discriminates against Hispanics. The civil rights inquiry is one of two that target the man who calls himself "America's toughest sheriff." A federal grand jury in Phoenix is examining whether Arpaio has used his power to investigate and intimidate political opponents and whether his office misappropriated government money, sources said. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/17/AR2010081703637_pf.html

The Hill writes: In a post on his personal blog headlined “The Movement We Need,” Al Gore linked to and quoted from an Australian wire service report that “tens of thousands of protesters … have taken to the streets across Australia to urge the major political parties to take action on climate change.”
“Across the world, when politicians fail to take action to solve the climate crisis, people are taking action,” Gore wrote.
He added after excerpting the news report: “It is my hope we see activism like this here in the United States.”
Gore noted he trained activists in Australia to deliver the slideshow that formed the basis for the documentary film that won him an Academy Award. A representative of Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection addressed the rally in Sydney.  [This would be the documentary which the British government only allows to be shown to their school students if it is pointed out that NINE factual errors are presented in the movie.]

CNBC reports: Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 500,000 in the week ended August 14, the highest since mid-November, the Labor Department said on Thursday. http://www.cnbc.com/id/38768328

American Thinker opines: There comes a moment in a failing presidency where the incumbent, through some single gesture, action, or statement, crosses a certain line from beyond which there is no return. Through his own will and behavior, he so underlines his failings, so frames his negative image, that no further action can ever erase it. Fate, accident, and circumstance have nothing to do with it. It is the president himself who puts the period at the end of his own sentence.
With Obama, we have an abundance of riches: the multiple vacations, the legal harassment of the state of Arizona on behalf of illegals, the clownish response to the Gulf oil blowout. But when historians come to select the moment when Obama went over the edge of the world, I think they'll find the great Iftar mosque speech of August 13, 2010 hard to beat.

During a White House dinner celebrating Ramadan, the president found it appropriate to come out in favor of religious freedom. Not in support of Christians being attacked by janjaweed gunmen, or Bahá'ís tormented by Iranian mullahs, or Jews being stalked by assassins, or even American citizens being told that they cannot pray in public, but in favor of a shadowy foreign foundation with suspicious financing and disturbing jihadi connections that wishes to build some kind of victory monument congruent to the site of the 9/11 massacre. http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/08/obamas_point_of_no_return.html

  1. Regarding the Islamic "community center" at Ground Zero, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't... The Libs -- in addition to smugly reminding us that freedom of religion allows for the building of an Islamic cultural center, also argue that opposition would give radicals a propaganda victory by making the struggle against terrorism *appear* to be a war against Islam...rather than a war on terrorism. To all those who appear to be applauding the placement of this center on hallowed ground...again I say...just because you have the right to do something doesn't make it the right thing to do!!!

  2. Attacking anyone who "dares" to protest or challenge THE ONE and his team is classic radical, communist dictum! I just really cannot stand these folks.
