"Under this bill [denying taxpayer funded abortions], when the Republicans vote for this bill today," Nancy Pelosi announced, "They will be voting to say that women can die on the floor and health care providers don't have to intervene if this bill is passed. It's just appalling."  [Isn't this the same Nancy Pelosi, weeping, who said that harsh words can promote violence, and the Republicans should stop doing it?]

AP writes: The Obama administration Friday pulled the plug on a major program in the president's signature health overhaul law - a long-term care insurance plan dogged from the beginning by doubts over its financial solvency.
Targeted by congressional Republicans for repeal, the long-term care plan became the first casualty in the political and policy wars over the health care law. The program had been expected to launch in 2013.  Said Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., spearheading opposition in the Senate: "The administration is finally admitting (the long-term care plan) is unsustainable and cannot be implemented." [Unstated here is the fact that this one program was the one which would "save" between 40-50% of cost of health insurance in Obamacare.]   http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_LONG_TERM_CARE_PROGRAM?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-10-14-15-24-47

Fox News reports: The U.S. is abandoning plans to keep troops in Iraq past a year-end withdrawal deadline, according to The Associated Press, but Obama administration officials insist to Fox News that discussions with Iraqi leaders are "ongoing."
For months, U.S. officials have been debating whether to stick to a Dec. 31 withdrawal deadline that was set in 2008 or negotiate a new security agreement to ensure that gains made and more than 4,400 American military lives lost since March 2003 do not go to waste.  [Our President needs them at other kinetic actions spots in African countries - without the vote of Congress.]

Expose Obama reports: A parade of Treasury Department officials testified on Friday that they had never before seen a government loan restructured as the one with Solyndra had been. The testimony came as the Republican-controlled House investigated whether the Obama administration had committed a crime in its handling of the politically connected solar energy firm.

Months after the Obama administration granted the $535 million loan to the firm with which it had such close ties, it allowed investors who sank in an additional $75 million to recoup their funds before taxpayers in the event of bankruptcy.

On Friday, Gary Burner and Gary Grippo, high-ranking Treasury Department employees, told the House Energy and Commerce oversight subcommittee that never in their memory had private investment funds been prioritized ahead of taxpayer dollars.
There is a good reason for that:House Republicans contend it is illegal. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 clearly states that all government loan guarantees “shall be subject to the condition that the obligation is not subordinate to other financing.” http://www.exposeobama.com/2011/10/14/house-investigates-if-solyndra-was-a-crime/

Fox News reports: Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has offered his own $804 billion jobs plan that calls on the federal government to hire the nation’s 15 million unemployed Americans for jobs paying roughly $40,000 each, and bail out all the states and cities facing budget crises.
In an interview with the Daily Caller on Wednesday, the Illinois Democrat applauded President Obama for directing his staff to greenlight job-creating initiatives without congressional approval after his $447 billion jobs bill was defeated in the Senate this week.
“Now we’re making some progress,” Jackson said, comparing the legislative gridlock in Congress to the states that seceded from the union during the Civil War.

Politico writes: The Obama administration is appealing a judge's ruling that Secret Service records of visitors to the White House complex are subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.
The Justice Department filed a formal notice of appeal Friday afternoon regarding U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell's August ruling rejecting arguments that the so-called WAVES records belong to the White House even though they are maintained and used by the Secret Service.
The decision to appeal the ruling to the D.C. Circuit would appear to be in tension with Obama's repeated pledges to operate the most transparent administration in history. The White House announced in Sept. 2009 that it was voluntarily releasing the names of most White House visitors from Sept. 15 forward. However, the conservative group Judicial Watch sought information on visits before that date.
The position taken by the Obama Justice Department, namely that White House visitor records are presidential records and not agency records, is essentially the same one that the department took under President George W. Bush. CNS News writes: A U.S. House committee Thursday approved a bill linking U.S. contributions to the United Nations to significant financial and other reforms, one day after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned she would recommend that President Obama veto the measure if it reaches his desk.
Deeply divided along party lines, the House Foreign Relations Committee voted 23-15 for the U.N. Transparency, Accountability, and Reform Act (H.R. 2829), whose most radical provision aims to force the U.N. to change its funding mechanism from the current system of “assessed” contributions to voluntary ones.
Proponents say this would allow the U.S. – and other member states – to fund only those activities and agencies it regards as being efficiently managed, and in the national interest. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/republicans-advance-bill-targeting-us-funding-un-what-are-we-paying

American Spectator writes: a "proposed rule", if permitted to stand, requires insurance companies to submit detailed health information about their patients to the HHS mother ship. And the "information collection requirements" (ICRs) set forth in this Byzantine edict will not be limited to federal programs like Medicare, or even to carriers involved in Obamacare's insurance exchanges. As the rule matter-of-factly phrases it, ICRs will apply to "all health insurance issuers both inside and outside of the exchanges" and affect carriers "in the individual and small group markets." The new regulation includes several alternatives for gathering and reporting your health data, but opting out is not among the choices offered.
Congressman Denny Rehberg, chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health & Human Services and Education, wrote to Secretary Sebelius last Thursday asking about this: "I have been told that HHS has already procured a contractor to build a database and that this contractor has already taken steps to acquire personal health care data from a large claims database. I would like to know if these reports are, in fact, true. If so, it would represent an egregious violation of the privacy rights that the American public rightfully demands." http://spectator.org/archives/2011/10/17/wed-like-to-know-a-little-bit

Washington Times reports: Officials at failed solar-panel maker Solyndra LLC refused to discuss the company’s contracts at a private meeting last month with a bankruptcy analyst for the Justice Department, fueling the push to have a trustee take over the failed company during its bankruptcy, records show.
Bankruptcy analyst Jeffrey Heck of the U.S. Office of the Trustee, an arm of the Justice Department that oversees bankruptcy cases, said that during a routine interview not long after Solyndra filed for bankruptcy last month, Solyndra officials suggested he “move on” when he asked about its contracts, according to an affidavit filed Friday by Mr. Heck in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

NY Post reports: Occupy Wall Street protesters said yesterday that packs of brazen crooks within their ranks have been robbing their fellow demonstrators blind, making off with pricey cameras, phones and laptops -- and even a hefty bundle of donated cash and food.
“Stealing is our biggest problem at the moment,” said Nan Terrie, 18, a kitchen and legal-team volunteer from Fort Lauderdale.
“I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500. Every night, something else is gone. Last night, our entire [kitchen] budget for the day was stolen, so the first thing I had to do was . . . get the message out to our supporters that we needed food!”

American Thinker reports: Four days after the first occupiers arrived on Wall Street in September, the Harvard Crimson student newspaper offered editorial space to a Maoist fringe group called the Revolutionary Communist Party. The article by RCP spokesman Ray Lotta urged replacing the U.S. Constitution with the Constitution of the New Socialist Republic in North America, which has been published as a 91-page book with a yellow cover.
The RCP is not an underground organization. The Great Walter Williams opines: President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party have led increasingly successful efforts to pit Americans against one another through the politics of hate and envy. Attacking CEO salaries, the president — last year during his Midwest tour — said, "I do think at a certain point you've made enough money."
For politicians, it's another story: Demonize people whose power you want to usurp. That's the typical way totalitarians gain power. They give the masses someone to hate. In 18th-century France, it was Maximilien Robespierre's promoting hatred of the aristocracy that was the key to his acquiring more dictatorial power than the aristocracy had ever had. In the 20th century, the communists gained power by promoting public hatred of the czars and capitalists. In Germany, Adolf Hitler gained power by promoting hatred of Jews and Bolsheviks. In each case, the power gained led to greater misery and bloodshed than anything the old regime could have done.
Let me be clear: I'm not equating America's liberals with Robespierre, Josef Stalin and Hitler. I am saying that promoting jealousy, fear and hate is an effective strategy for politicians and their liberal followers to control and micromanage businesses. It's not about the amount of money people earn. If it were, politicians and leftists would be promoting jealousy, fear and hate toward multimillionaire Hollywood and celebrities and sports stars, such as LeBron James ($48 million), Tiger Woods ($75 million) and Peyton Manning ($38 million). But there is no way that politicians could take over the roles of Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga and LeBron James. That means celebrities can make any amount of money they want and it matters not one iota politically.
The Occupy Wall Street crowd shouldn't focus its anger at wealthy CEOs. A far more appropriate target would be the U.S. Congress.http://www.creators.com/conservative/walter-williams.html

"I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks," Attorney General Eric Holder said.

Then CNN compares Holder's testimony to what President Obama said in MARCH to CNN Espanol about the operation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Representative Weekly Standard opines: Keith Ellison of Minnesota is the champion of job creation by adding to the regulatory burden of businesses. Sounds counter-productive, right? Not so, Ellison told MSNBC. Companies will have to hire more people to comply with new regs. “If the government says, look, we have got to reduce our carbon footprint, you will kick into gear a whole number of people that know how to do that or have ideas about that, and that will be a job engine,” Ellison said.
Democratic senator Barbara Boxer of California issued a report recently to the effect that rules promulgated by the Environmental Protection Agency generate jobs. “Industries that provide environmental protection” have begot more than one million jobs, the report said. What about industries that lost jobs because of EPA regulations? Forget it.
But if regulations lead to greater employment, “the economy should be in danger of overheating right about now,” Investor’s Business Daily noted. The Obama administration has set a record for issuing the most regulations in the shortest period of time, yet unemployment is stuck at 9.1 percent and the economy flirts with dipping back into recession.
Obama wants to end tax breaks and increase tax rates for the
1 percent, the plutocrats. “Would we rather maintain these tax breaks for the wealthiest few, or should we give tax cuts to the entrepreneurs who might need it to start that business [or] launch that new idea they’ve got?” he asked in Pittsburgh.
Lost on Obama—and no doubt on the Occupy Wall Street movement—is a simple economic truth. It’s mostly the 1 percent who bankroll the entrepreneurs or are the entrepreneurs themselves. Tax them more and you’re likely to get fewer jobs. But you’ll still have a villain to whip.

Daily Caller writes: “We’re really tired of the government f---ing everyone over,” one “Occupy Denver” protester told Daily Caller roving Colorado video reporter Kelly Maher this week.
The young University of Colorado student may appear too young to have much life experience, but yessir — he’s mad as hell and he isn’t going to take it anymore. He sure looks comfortable in that designer jacket, though. (Ladies: Is that Burberry or a knock-off?)
“There’s a lot of stuff that needs to change,” our boy added, “and if it doesn’t, violent revolution will come.”
How to change things for the better? Apparently it just takes a box of bullets and some rope.
“If you get the thirteen families that own the world, including George Bush and his administration, get them in front of the White House and hang them and shoot them, because they deserve that.”  [I offer a few suggestions. We should quit sending our beloved children to uber-liberal, brain-washing, capitalism-hating colleges.  Oops, we must send our children all to one college - Hillsdale - and I don't think they have room for them all.  These students who complain about the need for student loans forgiveness should be picketing the universities which might have $7 billion investment portfolios and still raise tuition rates far above inflation rates because they can - in order to pay the salaries and pensions of their uber-liberal tenured professors. These students should be angry with the current President whose programs have led to more job losses, except I rather imagine they really don't want to work hard for a living.  As one protester said, "I'm against a boss telling me how to do my job."

Daily Caller writes: A top official from President Barack Obama’s Justice Department spent Thursday night and Friday in Alabama appealing for evidence that could strike down the state’s innovative immigration-enforcement reform, which business executives say could open thousands of jobs to unemployed Americans.
The administration’s effort suffered a setback Friday, when an appeals court approved the workforce related portions of the law,  the law’s requirement that police make a “reasonable attempt” to verify the legal residency of people who have been arrested or detained, and the law’s nullification of contracts with illegal immigrants. The court, however, barred the law’s requirements that schools collect data related to students.
“We have been here in town … to listen and learn and collect information about all of the effects of the bill,” Tom Perez, assistant attorney general for the department’s Civil Rights Division, said in a Friday press conference.
Alabamans “are not allowed to racially profile,” said Perez, before he listed a series of disparaging claims that he and his staff had heard from advocates in the state. (RELATED: Justice Dept. files emergency appeal to block Alabama immigration law)

The UK Independent reports: The plot in which an Iranian-American from Corpus Christi, Texas, notorious locally for his Clouseau-like dimwittedness, tries to hire a Mexican gangster to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington at the behest of the Iranian authorities has been greeted with incredulous hilarity across much of the world.
The allegations need to be taken seriously primarily because they show that the White House, by giving credence to them at the highest level, is seeking confrontation with Iran in the lead-up to next year's presidential election.
The supposed conspiracy is bizarre even by the mendacious standards of stories pumped out by the Bush administration before 2003, purporting to show that Saddam Hussein was building weapons of mass destruction. Manssor Arbabsiar, an Iranian-American who has lived for 30 years in the US, had a history of serial failure in small business ventures. He had a conviction for cheque fraud and a reputation for fumbling incompetence so great that his friends suspected he might have suffered brain damage when he was knifed and beaten up for flirting with Iranian-American women. But this man, with his rather sad history of personal and business failures, is suddenly appointed a frontline operator for Quds Force, the intelligence arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
What makes the Arbabsiar plot so menacing is the way the administration has highlighted it. Far from downplaying it, they decided to treat the allegations as if they were proven facts. The conspiracy was gravely announced by Eric Holder, the US Attorney General, and publicly endorsed by President Obama and Hillary Clinton, his Secretary of the State. After such a public commitment it is going to be difficult for the US to back away.
The most likely motive for the Obama administration's vigorously expressed belief in the plot is that it is preparing the ground for the 2012 presidential election. Mr Obama's economic and social policies are failing and his only undiluted successes have been the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan and Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen. By dramatising how he frustrated the fiendish plots of the Iranians, Mr Obama can present himself as the president who kept America safe, or at least protect his national security political flank from criticism by the Republicans. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/patrick-cockburn-iran-had-better-watch-its-step-now-obamas-chasing-votes-2371379.html

The Blaze reports: Well, the same “street artist” who designed the now-famed Obama “Hope” poster in the soviet-era propagandist style, has just released his latest piece. Shepard Fairey’s most recent creation is an invitation for the “Occupation Party,” which features an image of an afro-clad woman gazing off into the distance, in what is presumably meant to effuse a message of empowerment. The subject bears a striking resemblance to Black Panther and Communist Party activist Angela Davis.
As for the party itself, the festivities are set to kick off this Saturday evening, October 15th, in Times Square. The invitation, intended for the “Awake and Inspired,” reads:
Hundreds of cities across the country will host demonstrations in support of the #Occupy movement. In New York City, dozens of community groups, unions, student organizations and lots and lots of regular folk are taking to the streets in a mass protest that will culminate in Times Square at 5pm, then moving (by train party!) downtown.
Partygoers are instructed to wear dramatic white, because “in many cultures dressing in white is a symbol of hope and transition. Think: white suits, dresses, face-paint, glitter, balloons, banners, be inspired.” http://www.theblaze.com/stories/artist-behind-famed-obama-hope-poster-designs-party-invite-for-occupy-wall-street/

Front Page Magazine writes: Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who considers himself to be the earthly deputy of both Prophet Muhammad and the hidden 12th Imam, must have heard Pelosi’s invocation. He came out in support of the Occupy Wall Street protest this week. He said that it shows how the capitalist system in the U.S. and the West has reached a dead end. When people use the slogan “we are the 99 percent,” Khamenei declared, the remaining one percent is “condemned.” Obama and Khamenei would have been able to share their support for Occupy Wall Street as an ice breaker if they ever got together for those unconditional negotiations with Iran that Obama promised during the 2008 campaign  http://frontpagemag.com/2011/10/14/khamenei-cheers-on-occupy-wall-street/

Big Journalism has learned that the Occupy Washington DC movement is working with well-known media members to craft its demands and messaging while these media members report on the movement. Someone has made the emails from the Occupy D.C. email distro public and searchable. The names in the list are a veritable who’s who in media.
Journolist 2.0 includes well known names such as MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan, Rolling Stone’s Matt Tiabbi who both are actively participating
In these emails we see MSNBC’s Ratigan, hawking his book in the footnotes, instructing occupiers on how properly to present their demands and messages while simultaneously appearing on television reporting “objectively” on the story (when he’s not taking part in the protests himself as content.) http://bigjournalism.com/dloesch/2011/10/16/journolist-2-0-occupydc-emails-show-msm-dylan-ratigan-working-with-protesters-to-craft-message/

Daily Caller writes: In a move that may redefine the term “strange bedfellows,” the American Nazi Party issued an official endorsement of the Occupy Wall Street protest movement on Sunday afternoon. The announcement put the organization, a self-described “National Socialist” political party, in company with the Socialist Party USA, which explained its own support for the left-wing protesters in a nationwide conference call last Tuesday night, crediting organized labor with the protests’ strength and sophistication to date.
The American Nazi Party is the most politically sophisticated U.S. remnant — but by no means the only one — of white supremacist Adolph Hitler’s murderous 20th century movement.

"Occupy" coming to your town; The history of Bill Ayers, friend of Obama, What do occupiers want?; It is important to know just who occupies Wall St.; MSNBC seeks Kent State moment!

[Please keep in mind that the following is from the same Bill Ayers of which the following is written on Biography.com:]
1)During his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, Ayers became involved with the Students for a Democratic Society(SDS) and the movement to end the war in Vietnam.  [U/M must be so proud....]
2)He and several others founded the Weather Underground [a more violent SDS], believing the anti-war movement needed to use violence, if necessary, to achieve its goals.
3)Later that year, the group took responsibility for bombing several police cars in Chicago in retaliation for the killing of Mark Clark and Fred Hampton of the Black Panther Party by the police.
4)By early 1970, many members of the group were in hiding, including Ayers. The organization was rocked by tragedy in March of that year when three members—Theodore Gold, Terry Robbins, and Ayers’ girlfriend Diana Oughton—were killed while making bombs in New York City.. Ayers participated in the 1971 bombing of the Capitol building and the 1972 bombing of the Pentagon, according to his 2001 book Fugitive Days: A Memoir.
5)Federal charges against Ayers and Dohrn were dismissed because of “improper surveillance,” according to an article in the Chicago Sun-Times
And he now writes:  Bill Ayers Wordpress posted the following, the first official, collective statement of the protesters in Zuccotti Park:  http://occupywallst.org/forum/first-official-release-from-occupy-wall-street/
As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.
As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.
1)They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
2)They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
3)They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.
4)They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
5)They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices.
6)They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
7)They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
8)They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
9)They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
10)They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
11)They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
12)They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.
13)They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
14)They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
15)They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them.
16)They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
17)They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.
18)They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.
19)They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
20)They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.
21)They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad.
22)They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.
23)They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government ontracts.*
To the people of the world, We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power.
Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.
To all communities that take action and form groups in the spirit of direct democracy, we offer support, documentation, and all of the resources at our disposal.
Join us and make your voices heard!  /http://billayers.wordpress.com/2011/10/05/occupy-wall-street-collective-statement-of-the-protesters/

[In random interviews by GBTV, the protesters said the following:
1) I'm against my boss telling me how to do my job; a priest telling me how to worship God; a politician telling me what the laws are
2) I am against steel structures, corporations and capitalism
3) Debt and banks should be abolished
4)  I am for communism, anarchy, and primitivism
5) I am against rich fat cats paying far less in taxes than a poor person
6) I can't define the words credit and don't know what a stock is
7) 34% said Al Quaeda is no more dangerous than is capitalism.
OK - these really are useful idiots - useful to unions, anarchists, and anti-capitalists and their agenda.

Real Clear Politics reports: Donny Deutsch discusses the Occupy Wall Street movement on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"Obviously everybody is saying, they need to kind of clarify, they need policy issues -- 'this is what we want' as opposed to.... The other thing it needs, and I don't want this to come out the wrong way. If we think -- not needs but will happen -- if you think back to the late '60s, what is the most stirring image of all of the rebellion that happened. What do we remember? Kent State. Now, I'm not saying somebody has to get killed. What will happen, there will be a climax moment of class warfare somehow played out on screen that I think will -- the same way '9-9-9', if you will, kind of simplifies a message -- that articulates this clash. So, both the real clarification in terms of policy and unfortunately some imagery says to America, and I think those are the two things..."  http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/10/14/donny_deutsch_occupy_wall_street_needs_a_kent_state_moment.html

For those too young to remember: According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootingsThe Kent State shootings—also known as the May 4 massacre or, frequently, the Kent State massacre[2][3][4]—occurred at Kent State University in the city of Kent, Ohio, and involved the shooting of unarmed college students by members of the Ohio National Guard on Monday, May 4, 1970. The guardsmen fired 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis.[5]
Some of the students who were shot had been protesting against the American invasion of Cambodia, which President Richard Nixon announced in a television address on April 30. Other students who were shot had been walking nearby or observing the protest from a distance.[6][7]
There was a significant national response to the shootings: hundreds of universities, colleges, and high schools closed throughout the United States due to a student strike of four million students.

None of this matters to Republicans; Republicans offer another plan; Solyndra funder reports little of his income to IRS; Obama draws sparse crowd; No confirmation til they hear from Obama; "Jobs Supported" by Obama; When do occupiers head to White House?; Occupy Boston assaults Coast Guard woman; Voter Fraud in Texas likely; Zuccotti Park owned by Obama Energy Stimulus Recipient; Muslims asked to support Occupy Wall St.; UN pushes for sexual freedom for 12 year olds, US inching there in CA

Real Clear Politics writes: At a forum on American Latino Heritage, President Obama goes through a litany of ideas that he is for, including his new stimulus, and ends with "none of this matters to Republicans in the Senate." One of those ideas is believing America is "a place where every child, no matter what they look like, where they come from, should have a chance to succeed."
. No other jobs plan has that kind of support from actual economists -- no plan from Congress, no plan from anybody.

But apparently, none of this matters to Republicans in the Senate.  [Good for you, Mr. President.  You have found one more way to promote hatred and divisiveness.  Since it is clear that the Republican House has passed several bills on jobs, each one being denied by the Senate, it becomes clear to what lengths our President will go to promote the Big Lie.]  http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/10/13/obama_republicans_dont_want_a_place_where_people_no_matter_what_they_look_like_can_

[OOPS!  I'm sure Mr. President will correct what he said in last post, and he'll do it very soon..] The AP reports:  Senate Republicans introduced legislation Thursday aimed at creating jobs by overhauling the nation's tax laws, cutting business rules and boosting offshore oil exploration.
The GOP bill is called the "Jobs Through Growth Act" and doesn't include a single item in President Barack Obama's jobs legislation, which Senate Republicans killed in a Tuesday night vote.
"They believe that government and spending creates jobs," said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. "We believe business and growth creates jobs."
The GOP plan calls for repealing Obama's health care law and passing a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget.  http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_GOP_JOBS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-10-13-15-14-30

Washington Examiner opines: But the Solyndra scandal is far from Kaiser's first brush with political controversy. As the Sunlight Foundation's Bill Allison reports today, Kaiser [a major Solyndra funder] has become extraordinarily wealthy by taking advantage of the federal tax code in ways that some tax experts - including the IRS - believe to be illegal.
As Allison describes it in his Sunlight post today, "in one six year period, during which he increased his net worth enough to land him on the Forbes list of the 400 wealthiest Americans, Kaiser reported taxable income to the Internal Revenue Service just once, totaling $11,699--equivalent to a full-time hourly wage of $5.62."
During the 1980s bust in the oil industry in Oklahoma and Texas, Kaiser bought up struggling energy companies whose losses provided him with tax deductions that effectively hid his own income. http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/article/solyndra-funder-kaiser-paid-zero-taxes-years

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports: An Allegheny County labor leader said on Wednesday he's to blame for unfilled seats during President Obama's speech to about 300 people in a South Side union hall.
At least 50 seats in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 5 hall were empty when Obama took the stage about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday to pitch the jobs plan that senators later rejected. Obama toured the IBEW's training center, met with members of the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness and delivered a 25-minute speech pushing for passage of his jobs bill.

Redstate writes: In an interview at The Heritage Foundation this week, Shelby criticized Obama for failing to respond to the GOP’s suggested reforms for the CFPB [Consumer Financial Protection Bureau] . As a result, he encouraged Republican leaders to block Cordray and limit Obama’s ability to make a recess appointment.
“Forty-four of us have written a letter to the president and asked for three changes,” Shelby said. “We haven’t heard from the president. Maybe he’s off campaigning. … Until we hear from him, I don’t believe we’re going to confirm anyone.”
He also added: “I think it would be devastating if we let [Obama] make a recess appointment, but that’s the call of the leadership.”
The three reforms include creating a board rather than a single czar to run the agency, subjecting the CFPB to the congressional appropriations process, and making sure it considers impact of new rules on the safety and soundness of financial institutions. http://www.redstate.com/bluey/2011/10/13/sen-richard-shelby-on-why-hes-blocking-the-new-consumer-czars-confirmation

Hot Air reports: Old and busted: Jobs “saved or created.”  New hotness: Jobs “supported.”  In attempting to advance the argument for Barack Obama’s new jobs stimulus plan, the White House has decided to create a new term that has, er, even less meaning than their previous measure: http://hotair.com/archives/2011/10/13/new-obama-metric-jobs-supported/
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------NY Daily News asks: A better question? When do they head to Washington and start yelling about a President who often looks like the Fundraiser-in-Chief, trying to keep his job backed by what might become the richest campaign in history, in a jobless country going broke.
It's why you wonder if there will come a day when the house that Occupy Wall Street is standing in front of isn't Jamie Dimon's on Park Ave., it is the White House.
Say this about the state of the country nearly three years into the Obama administration: If this President didn't create this economic mess, he hasn't done very much to get us out of it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Fox Boston reports: The Coast Guard in Boston confirmed that a woman in uniform was harassed and spat upon by Occupy Boston protesters. The woman was walking to the train and said protesters spit on her twice, called her foul names and even threw a water bottle at her.
Now, the Coast Guard is warning all staff working on Atlantic Avenue to avoid those protesters while in uniform.

Citizens Report opines: A recent check by the Texas’ Secretary of State’s office indicates that 600,000 registered voters do not  have a valid driver’s license or state issued identification card.  In Texas, identification is not required to register to vote but due to a bill just passed by the Texas Legislature, valid identification may be required at the polls to vote if Senate Bill 14 is cleared by the justice department.
As many as a quarter of voters in some small Texas counties might not be able to cast ballots if the federal government allows the new state voter ID law to go into effect.
One concern is that undocumented immigrants have registered to vote in Texas.  Since no identification is required to register to vote , undocumented immigrants could register. http://citizensreport.info/2011/10/13/as-many-as-600000-illegal-aliens-may-be-registered-to-vote-in-texas/

[Here is a good exercise in "connect the dots", brought to us by Free Republic]: Occupy Wall Street protesters have been camped out in and trashing Zuccotti Park for weeks. Zuccotti Park is a very nice private park, right in the middle of Manhattan.
Zuccotti Park is owned by Brookfield Office Properties, which is part of Brookfield Asset Management, worth at least $150 billion.
That’s pretty nice of a big evil corporation to let protesters sleep, smoke weed and go number one and two on its nice private park in downtown Manhattan. Especially since the protesters are protesting big evil corporations. (But then again, President Obama expressed solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protesters, Nancy Pelosi said “God Bless Them,” and Bill Ayers is writing their collective Occupy Wall Street demands. So someone loves them.)

Hmm. Wonder what that’s about.
One of the big divisions of Brookfield Asset Management is Brookfield Renewable Energy. You know where this is going. This company has received hundreds of millions, if not billions, in “green” grants, stimulus money and DOE loans (a la Solyndra).
With that kind of backing, it is curious that the U.S. Department of Energy announced it would guarantee up to 80 percent of a $168.9 million loan for the Granite Reliable wind farm project last week.

Why would a company created by a $3.2 billion company and backed by a $2.7 billion private fund need federal loan guarantees? That would be an important question at any time, but it is more pertinent after the bankruptcy of Solyndra, a solar-panel maker that got a $535 million federal loan guarantee from the Obama administration last year.

Granite Reliable’s wind farm is not proven, and Granite Reliable is a limited liability company, which provides broad investor protection if the company goes down. If the wind farm flops, and investors cut their losses, the taxpayers stand to lose $135 million.  http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2790976/posts

I Won The World reports: This past Sunday, California Governor Jerry Brown sign Assembly Bill 499 into law that goes a step further in providing preventive care for children 12 and over to prevent contracting STD’s or drug related diseases such as hepatitis B. The new law provides for vaccines for HPV, HIV and hepatitis to be made available to teens without parental consent or knowledge.
What’s even more scary is that these laws coincide with similar laws being pushed by the United Nations to give complete sexual freedom to all children down to the age of 10 to 12. http://iowntheworld.com/blog/?p=99053
