Political Ticker reports: House Republicans investigating the loan controversy had requested all internal White House documents about the issue. House Energy and Commerce subcommittee chair Rep. Cliff Stearns said that includes emails on the President's Blackberry.

On Friday the White House Counsel sent a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee explaining they won't comply with the request because it "implicates longstanding and significant institutional Executive Branch confidentiality interests."
The response is hardly a surprise given past administrations' refusal to comply with similar congressional requests. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10/14/source-white-house-will-not-turn-over-all-solyndra-documents/

Real Clear Politics reports: CNN's John King plays Holder's testimony to Congress on MAY 3, 2011, where he said he had only just recently heard about the Fast & Furious gunrunning program. "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks," Attorney General Eric Holder said.

Then CNN compares Holder's testimony to what President Obama said in MARCH to CNN Espanol about the operation. "I heard on the news about this story that -- Fast and Furious, where allegedly guns were being run into Mexico, and ATF knew about it, but didn't apprehend those who had sent it." Transcript of the segment that aired on "John King USA" below: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/10/13/obama_spoke_about_fast__furious_before_holder_claimed_he_knew.html
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Representative Weekly Standard opines: Keith Ellison of Minnesota is the champion of job creation by adding to the regulatory burden of businesses. Sounds counter-productive, right? Not so, Ellison told MSNBC. Companies will have to hire more people to comply with new regs. “If the government says, look, we have got to reduce our carbon footprint, you will kick into gear a whole number of people that know how to do that or have ideas about that, and that will be a job engine,” Ellison said.
Democratic senator Barbara Boxer of California issued a report recently to the effect that rules promulgated by the Environmental Protection Agency generate jobs. “Industries that provide environmental protection” have begot more than one million jobs, the report said. What about industries that lost jobs because of EPA regulations? Forget it.
But if regulations lead to greater employment, “the economy should be in danger of overheating right about now,” Investor’s Business Daily noted. The Obama administration has set a record for issuing the most regulations in the shortest period of time, yet unemployment is stuck at 9.1 percent and the economy flirts with dipping back into recession.
Obama wants to end tax breaks and increase tax rates for the
1 percent, the plutocrats. “Would we rather maintain these tax breaks for the wealthiest few, or should we give tax cuts to the entrepreneurs who might need it to start that business [or] launch that new idea they’ve got?” he asked in Pittsburgh.
Lost on Obama—and no doubt on the Occupy Wall Street movement—is a simple economic truth. It’s mostly the 1 percent who bankroll the entrepreneurs or are the entrepreneurs themselves. Tax them more and you’re likely to get fewer jobs. But you’ll still have a villain to whip.

Daily Caller writes: “We’re really tired of the government f---ing everyone over,” one “Occupy Denver” protester told Daily Caller roving Colorado video reporter Kelly Maher this week.
The young University of Colorado student may appear too young to have much life experience, but yessir — he’s mad as hell and he isn’t going to take it anymore. He sure looks comfortable in that designer jacket, though. (Ladies: Is that Burberry or a knock-off?)
“There’s a lot of stuff that needs to change,” our boy added, “and if it doesn’t, violent revolution will come.”
How to change things for the better? Apparently it just takes a box of bullets and some rope.
“If you get the thirteen families that own the world, including George Bush and his administration, get them in front of the White House and hang them and shoot them, because they deserve that.”  [I offer a few suggestions. We should quit sending our beloved children to uber-liberal, brain-washing, capitalism-hating colleges.  Oops, we must send our children all to one college - Hillsdale - and I don't think they have room for them all.  These students who complain about the need for student loans forgiveness should be picketing the universities which might have $7 billion investment portfolios and still raise tuition rates far above inflation rates because they can - in order to pay the salaries and pensions of their uber-liberal tenured professors. These students should be angry with the current President whose programs have led to more job losses, except I rather imagine they really don't want to work hard for a living.  As one protester said, "I'm against a boss telling me how to do my job."

American Thinker writes: Nowhere on earth does the contrast between freedom and tyranny, and their corollary prosperity and poverty, reveal itself more vividly than on the Korean Peninsula.  South Korea has boomed, producing an ultramodern high tech society whose corporate giants vie for leadership in global industry after industry, and whose popular culture is consumed all over East Asia.  In the North, under the hereditary Stalinist Kim dynasty, a million or more citizens died in a famine, and widespread malnutrition has made the younger generation inches shorter than their Southern neighbors, on average, and the people have no access to foreign media or the internet. http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/10/freedom_confronts_tyranny_a_visit_to_the_demilitarized_zone.html

American Thinker opines: The so-called "Wall Street protesters" who presently follow the '60s adage of "taking it to the streets" might do well to review a bit of history -- in particular, as it relates to the consequences of Marxist ideology.

In 1951, when the horrors of the Red Terror, Siberian gulags, and Auschwitz death camps were still very real, author Eric Hoffer wrote in his acclaimed book, The True Believer, that the "monstrous evils of the 20th century have shown us that the greediest money grubbers are gentle doves compared with money-hating wolves like Lenin, Stalin and Hitler, who in less than three decades killed or maimed nearly a hundred million men, women and children and brought untold suffering to a large portion of mankind."1 http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/10/marxist_mayhem_in_wall_street_protests.html

Expose Obama reports: An attack on Aug. 25 in a Monterrey,Mexico casino killed 53 people.
Sources tell CBS News that,in January 2010,ATF had Kingery under surveillance after he bought about 50 grenade bodies and headed to Mexico. But they say prosecutors wouldn’t agree to make a case. So,as ATF agents looked on,Kingery and the grenade parts crossed the border —and simply disappeared.
Six months later,Kingery allegedly got caught leaving the U.S. for Mexico with 114 disassembled grenades in a tire. One ATF agent told investigators he literally begged prosecutors to keep Kingery in custody this time, fearing he was supplying narco-terrorists,but was again ordered to let Kingery go…. http://www.exposeobama.com/2011/10/14/video-project-grenade-walker-explodes/

The Wall St. Journal writes: It's as if he doesn't like people," says real-estate mogul and New York Daily News owner Mortimer Zuckerman of the president of the United States. Barack Obama doesn't seem to care for individuals, elaborates Mr. Zuckerman, though the president enjoys addressing millions of them on television.
The Boston Properties CEO is trying to understand why Mr. Obama has made little effort to build relationships on Capitol Hill or negotiate a bipartisan economic plan. A longtime supporter of the Democratic Party, Mr. Zuckerman wrote in these pages two months ago that the entire business community was "pleading for some kind of adult supervision" in Washington and "desperate for strong leadership." Writing soon after the historic downgrade of U.S. Treasury debt by Standard & Poor's, he wrote, "I long for a triple-A president to run a triple-A country."  It's as if he doesn't like people," says real-estate mogul and New York Daily News owner Mortimer Zuckerman of the president of the United States. The NY Post reports: Protesters chanted "police are the 99%" and "this is a nonviolent protest" during the near-confrontation.
[The protesters] all went in a big flash mob to close their accounts," said Adrielle Slaugh,a 24-year-old office manager who saw the clash. "There were about 30 of them. They were screaming and chanting while they were going in. Security told them to leave, but they didn’t. They stood in a group chanting things to the tellers. There were locked in, and then they were taken away.”

Daily Caller writes: A top official from President Barack Obama’s Justice Department spent Thursday night and Friday in Alabama appealing for evidence that could strike down the state’s innovative immigration-enforcement reform, which business executives say could open thousands of jobs to unemployed Americans.
The administration’s effort suffered a setback Friday, when an appeals court approved the workforce related portions of the law,  the law’s requirement that police make a “reasonable attempt” to verify the legal residency of people who have been arrested or detained, and the law’s nullification of contracts with illegal immigrants. The court, however, barred the law’s requirements that schools collect data related to students.
“We have been here in town … to listen and learn and collect information about all of the effects of the bill,” Tom Perez, assistant attorney general for the department’s Civil Rights Division, said in a Friday press conference.
Alabamans “are not allowed to racially profile,” said Perez, before he listed a series of disparaging claims that he and his staff had heard from advocates in the state. (RELATED: Justice Dept. files emergency appeal to block Alabama immigration law)
“We’re monitoring very troubling data about absenteeism and withdrawals of Hispanic kids [from schools] … we’re hearing a number of reports about increases in bullying in schools that we’re investigating …. [and] we’re beginning to hear information regarding [potentially improper] arrests,” he said, without offering evidence that such episodes had occurred or were crimes.

Daily Caller writes: Former White House green jobs czar Van Jones called on Americans to “stand in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street” and praised protesters’ refusal on Friday to leave their encampment in New York as “truly amazing” and “a victory.”
“Truly amazing,” read a statement released via email by the non-profit organization “Rebuild the Dream.”
“Early this morning in New York, faced with the threat of eviction, the protesters at Occupy Wall Street were joined by union members, by community organizers, and by thousands of other New Yorkers standing in solidarity with them,” Jones gushed. “And because they refused to back down, the park’s owners had to.”
“This victory in New York shows how powerful we can be when we all stand together

The UK Independent reports: The plot in which an Iranian-American from Corpus Christi, Texas, notorious locally for his Clouseau-like dimwittedness, tries to hire a Mexican gangster to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington at the behest of the Iranian authorities has been greeted with incredulous hilarity across much of the world.
The allegations need to be taken seriously primarily because they show that the White House, by giving credence to them at the highest level, is seeking confrontation with Iran in the lead-up to next year's presidential election.
The supposed conspiracy is bizarre even by the mendacious standards of stories pumped out by the Bush administration before 2003, purporting to show that Saddam Hussein was building weapons of mass destruction. Manssor Arbabsiar, an Iranian-American who has lived for 30 years in the US, had a history of serial failure in small business ventures. He had a conviction for cheque fraud and a reputation for fumbling incompetence so great that his friends suspected he might have suffered brain damage when he was knifed and beaten up for flirting with Iranian-American women. But this man, with his rather sad history of personal and business failures, is suddenly appointed a frontline operator for Quds Force, the intelligence arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
What makes the Arbabsiar plot so menacing is the way the administration has highlighted it. Far from downplaying it, they decided to treat the allegations as if they were proven facts. The conspiracy was gravely announced by Eric Holder, the US Attorney General, and publicly endorsed by President Obama and Hillary Clinton, his Secretary of the State. After such a public commitment it is going to be difficult for the US to back away.
The most likely motive for the Obama administration's vigorously expressed belief in the plot is that it is preparing the ground for the 2012 presidential election. Mr Obama's economic and social policies are failing and his only undiluted successes have been the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan and Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen. By dramatising how he frustrated the fiendish plots of the Iranians, Mr Obama can present himself as the president who kept America safe, or at least protect his national security political flank from criticism by the Republicans. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/patrick-cockburn-iran-had-better-watch-its-step-now-obamas-chasing-votes-2371379.html

Students who do not wish to attend the protest have the option of writing a 20-page term paper about a social movement to receive the same extra credit. The Gateway Pundit reports: Today the American Nazi Party released a statement in support of Occupy Wall Street movement.
The foremost authority on National Socialism in America has this to say about “Occupy” [ANP leader Rocky Suhayda -ed.] :
What is really MISSING – is the “MOVEMENT” from these popular protests – its time to pull WN heads out of their collective ass’s, and JOIN IN the attack on Judeo-Capitalism. What do you suggest? That WN Working Class White people DEFEND the Judeo-Capitalists? WHO is therefore the #1 ENEMY who makes all this filth happen – the JUDEO-CAPITALISTS. WHO therefore do WN need to FIGHT? My heart is right there with these people, perhaps someday the “movement” will SHOW the same COURAGE and DEDICATION that these people OUT THERE FIGHTING are SHOWING!

The Blaze reports: Well, the same “street artist” who designed the now-famed Obama “Hope” poster in the soviet-era propagandist style, has just released his latest piece. Shepard Fairey’s most recent creation is an invitation for the “Occupation Party,” which features an image of an afro-clad woman gazing off into the distance, in what is presumably meant to effuse a message of empowerment. The subject bears a striking resemblance to Black Panther and Communist Party activist Angela Davis.
As for the party itself, the festivities are set to kick off this Saturday evening, October 15th, in Times Square. The invitation, intended for the “Awake and Inspired,” reads:
Hundreds of cities across the country will host demonstrations in support of the #Occupy movement. In New York City, dozens of community groups, unions, student organizations and lots and lots of regular folk are taking to the streets in a mass protest that will culminate in Times Square at 5pm, then moving (by train party!) downtown.
Partygoers are instructed to wear dramatic white, because “in many cultures dressing in white is a symbol of hope and transition. Think: white suits, dresses, face-paint, glitter, balloons, banners, be inspired.” http://www.theblaze.com/stories/artist-behind-famed-obama-hope-poster-designs-party-invite-for-occupy-wall-street/

Front Page Magazine writes: Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, who considers himself to be the earthly deputy of both Prophet Muhammad and the hidden 12th Imam, must have heard Pelosi’s invocation. He came out in support of the Occupy Wall Street protest this week. He said that it shows how the capitalist system in the U.S. and the West has reached a dead end. When people use the slogan “we are the 99 percent,” Khamenei declared, the remaining one percent is “condemned.” Obama and Khamenei would have been able to share their support for Occupy Wall Street as an ice breaker if they ever got together for those unconditional negotiations with Iran that Obama promised during the 2008 campaign  http://frontpagemag.com/2011/10/14/khamenei-cheers-on-occupy-wall-street/

Big Journalism has learned that the Occupy Washington DC movement is working with well-known media members to craft its demands and messaging while these media members report on the movement. Someone has made the emails from the Occupy D.C. email distro public and searchable. The names in the list are a veritable who’s who in media.
Journolist 2.0 includes well known names such as MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan, Rolling Stone’s Matt Tiabbi who both are actively participating
In these emails we see MSNBC’s Ratigan, hawking his book in the footnotes, instructing occupiers on how properly to present their demands and messages while simultaneously appearing on television reporting “objectively” on the story (when he’s not taking part in the protests himself as content.) http://bigjournalism.com/dloesch/2011/10/16/journolist-2-0-occupydc-emails-show-msm-dylan-ratigan-working-with-protesters-to-craft-message/

Daily Caller writes: In a move that may redefine the term “strange bedfellows,” the American Nazi Party issued an official endorsement of the Occupy Wall Street protest movement on Sunday afternoon. The announcement put the organization, a self-described “National Socialist” political party, in company with the Socialist Party USA, which explained its own support for the left-wing protesters in a nationwide conference call last Tuesday night, crediting organized labor with the protests’ strength and sophistication to date.
The American Nazi Party is the most politically sophisticated U.S. remnant — but by no means the only one — of white supremacist Adolph Hitler’s murderous 20th century movement.
