Another Pelosi-ism; Oil Spill Clean-up Assets; Census Bureau Fraud; Black Panthers; Gun Owner Lists; Serial Doublecrosser Obama; and more

[I'm willing to stick my neck out here to say that it would appear that Nancy Pelosi has never actually studied economics, after hearing this pronouncement from her:]Pelosi: Unemployment Checks Fastest Way to Create Jobs:  [This from the woman who said we needed to pass the health care bill in order to find out what's in it.....]

Fox News Reports:  Unemployment benefits are creating jobs faster than practically any other program, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday.
Talking to reporters, the House speaker was defending a jobless benefits extension against those who say it gives recipients little incentive to work. By her reasoning, those checks are helping give somebody a job.
"It injects demand into the economy," Pelosi said, arguing that when families have money to spend it keeps the economy churning. "It creates jobs faster than almost any other initiative you can name."
Pelosi said the aid has the "double benefit" of helping those who lost their jobs and acting as a "job creator" on the side. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/01/pelosi-unemployment-checks-best-way-create-jobs/

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the Washington Examiner:  “The number of [oil clean up] assets claimed [by the White House], however, does not appear to match what is actually in the field. This is corroborated by Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who shared a similar story with investigators. BP and Coast Guard provided Mr. Nungesser with a map of the Gulf allegedly pinpointing the exact locations of 140 skimmers cleaning up oil. Sensing that the chart may have been somewhat inaccurate, Mr. Nungesser requested a flyover of the assets for verification. After three cancelled trips, officials admitted to Mr. Nungesser that only 31 of the 140 skimmers were ever deployed. The rest were sitting at the docks. According to Mr. Nungesser, the chart appeared to have been fabricated.”

From Yahoo News comes this:  The Coast Guard said there have been 107 offers of help from 44 nations, ranging from technical advice to skimmer boats and booms. But many of those offers are weeks old, and only a small number have been accepted, with the vast majority still under review,

And in recent days and weeks, for reasons BP has never explained, many fishing boats hired for the cleanup have done a lot of waiting around.
A report prepared by investigators with the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform for Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., detailed one case in which the Dutch government offered April 30 to provide four oil skimmers that collectively could process more than 6 million gallons of oily water a day. It took seven weeks for the U.S. to approve the offer. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100702/ap_on_bi_ge/us_gulf_oil_spill;_ylt=AkaV7Y9GtAmJoECFRlesB02s0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNoZmFlN2czBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMTAwNzAyL3VzX2d1bGZfb2lsX3NwaWxsBGNjb2

The New York Daily News reports:  Two Census Bureau managers from a Brooklyn field office were fired after their bosses found they faked household surveys to meet deadlines, the Daily News learned.
Instead of pounding the pavement and knocking on doors, the corner-cutting people-counters mined the phone book and Internet to make up answers to questionnaires, regional director Tony Farthing said.
The managers - turned in by whistleblower employees - were caught last week. Now, at least 10,000 surveys need to be done or redone, officials said.

From the Washington Times:  On the day President Obama was elected, armed men wearing the black berets and jackboots of the New Black Panther Party were stationed at the entrance to a polling place in Philadelphia. They brandished a weapon and intimidated voters and poll watchers. After the election, the Justice Department brought a voter-intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party and those armed thugs. I and other Justice attorneys diligently pursued the case and obtained an entry of default after the defendants ignored the charges. Before a final judgment could be entered in May 2009, our superiors ordered us to dismiss the case.
The New Black Panther case was the simplest and most obvious violation of federal law I saw in my Justice Department career. Because of the corrupt nature of the dismissal, statements falsely characterizing the case and, most of all, indefensible orders for the career attorneys not to comply with lawful subpoenas investigating the dismissal, this month I resigned my position as a Department of Justice (DOJ) attorney.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has opened an investigation into the dismissal and the DOJ's skewed enforcement priorities. Attorneys who brought the case are under subpoena to testify, but the department ordered us to ignore the subpoena, lawlessly placing us in an unacceptable legal limbo.  http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/jun/25/inside-the-black-panther-case-anger-ignorance-and-/

On the same subject, David Limbaugh writes: The Obama administration grows more arrogant, cavalier and fundamentally dishonest every day. Just in the past few days, we've seen a number of troubling examples. Frankly, sometimes it's hard to keep up. We've also heard from former Justice Department attorney J. Christian Adams, who has confirmed — from the belly of the beast — our worst suspicions about Obama and Eric Holder's Justice Department's dismissing a slam-dunk case for voter intimidation against New Black Panther Party members for racial reasons. This is an egregious trampling on the rule of law, an outrage that would subject any Republican president to charges of high crimes and misdemeanors, a scandal of the first order for which this administration isn't even bothering to develop "plausible deniability."
Next, we read about Obama's reaction to Sen. Lamar Alexander's reasonable suggestion that any energy discussion between the president and a "bipartisan" group of senators should include a focus on the oil spill and BP. Obama said, "That's just your talking point," and flat-out refused to discuss the subject. Is he king or what?  http://www.creators.com/conservative/david-limbaugh/unprecedented-arrogance.html

 [Gun owners, listen up!]
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Ohio Democratic Party tried unsuccessfully this week to get information on all people licensed to carry concealed weapons in the Buckeye State.

The records are exempt from the public record laws. The only public access was given to journalists when then-Gov. Bob Taft signed the law in 2004.
The Democrats intended to target people who support the Second Amendment -- the constitutional right to bear arms -- with campaign information, said party spokesman, Seth Bringman.
The party learned the information was not public and then sent a second letter apologizing to the 88 sheriffs.
"We asked them to rescind our request," Bringman said.

"Tears streamed down the face of Patti Blagojevich as the recorded voice of her husband, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, echoed in the courtroom of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. "It's very important for me to make a lot of money," Blagojevich said to his chief of staff John Harris on an FBI tape. "I need independence. I need freedom."

From the NY Post: The cap-and-trade bill that the House passed last summer aims to force Americans to reduce those dreaded carbon emissions by 83 percent in less than four decades -- to the same per-capita level as 1867. Yet, even under the Al Gore-approved climate-science models, the bill would do nothing to stop global warming. The bill is 1,000-plus pages of rules, regulations, handouts, subsidies and whatever else House leaders deemed necessary. Not one of the 435 members read the whole monstrosity -- because the leadership dropped 300 new pages on their desks the night before they voted.  http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/bam_climate_rx_all_pain_no_gain_rrEOObpwCeZkI43QmmKH4O

"A strong and durable [economic] recovery also requires countries not having an undue advantage," Obama told journalists at the end of G20 talks in Canada.

[According to Wayne Allen Root, a college classmate of Barack Obama]: "He is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within."  http://www.examiner.com/x-17078-Lafayette-Political-Buzz-Examiner~y2010m6d23-Guest-writer-Wayne-Allen-Root-Overwhelm-the-system

American Thinker opines: Mr. Seidenberg, chairman of the influential Business Roundtable, was shocked that even though he and his fellow CEOs had worked closely with the Obama administration to push Obamacare, the reward for their capitulation was more regulations and policies that have now created a "hostile environment" for job creation.

They held up their part of the deal but the government punished them with anti-business regulations designed to damage the economy.  Now the Roundtable finds itself in the same quagmire as other groups who thought that if they just went along with Obama, they would be spared his scimitar.

Thus, another Faustian deal has been made.  This evil regime arrogantly promises various groups that they will benefit as long as they toe the Obama line.  Perhaps the American public should reread the legend about Faust ~ how many more groups will Obama trick as they sign a pact with the devil? http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/06/the_serial_doublecrosser.html

  1. I don't get it, Nancy. Not that I want to seem ungrateful...and, indeed it's an insurance I've paid into for 20 years...but how is my unemployment benefit ensuring work for anyone? OH, WAIT! I get it... There are now more GOVERNMENT jobs required to process all those unemployment checks for people who can no longer find work in PRIVATE industry. Brilliant. (Right, Wayne?!)

  2. Yes, those are the new jobs she is talking about. And she adds that those who get an unemployment check will blow it on things other than mortgages, utilities, food and other necessities. They will buy things instead, on a whim, that will create new businesses.
