The Washington Times tells us: Gasoline prices haven't gotten much attention amid all the other bad economic news for Democrats heading into a final week of campaigning, but the price per gallon has climbed nearly 15 cents since Labor Day - a surprising jump, given that prices usually plummet before an election.
The cost of a gallon of gas has eclipsed the $3 mark in several parts of the country and clocks in nationally at $2.82, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). That's up from $2.68 on Sept. 6, and overall about $1 higher than the week of Jan. 26, 2009, when President Obama took office and the per-gallon price was $1.81. [First of all, this is just what our President said needs to happen.  He is all for skyrocketing utility and gas prices, for that will decrease consumption.  Second of all, what did we expect when he got a moratorium on drilling for oil in the ocean?  Yes - higher prices and many more people on welfare for the loss of their jobs.  What a plan.] http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/oct/25/gas-prices-rise-breaking-pattern/

CAIRO (AP) - A U.S.-born spokesman for al-Qaida on Saturday urged Muslims living in the United States and Europe to carry out attacks there, calling it a duty and an obligation. In a 48-minute video posted on militant websites, Adam Gadahn directed his appeal to Muslim immigrants in what he called the "miserable suburbs" of Paris, London and Detroit, as well as those traveling to the West to study or work.
"It is the duty of everyone who is sincere in his desire to defend Islam and Muslims today, to take the initiative to perform the individual obligation of jihad ... by striking the Zio-Crusader interests," he said, referring to Western and Jewish interests  http://www.wtop.com/?sid=2090634&nid=105

Newsblog opines: President Obama's final [Rhode Island campaign] stop was a $7,500-a-head fundraiser in the well-appointed home of Arnold "Buff" and Johnnie Chace on the East Side, not far from Brown University.
The president spoke for about 20 minutes, then left before the dinner of locally grown foods by celebrated Rhode Island chefs -- including lobster risotto -- that Mrs. Chace had planned.
Fewer than 50 were in attendance, according to Eric Hyers, campaign manager for Providence Mayor David N. Cicilline, the Democratic candidate for the House seat being vacated by Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy.
Mr. Obama concluded his remarks at about 7:30, saying he couldn't stay for dinner.
"I've got to go home to tuck in the girls and walk the dog and scoop the poop," he said. http://newsblog.projo.com/2010/10/obama-speaks-at-chace-house-sk.html

From the Huffington Post: In an extraordinary move to nip the inflammatory commentary coming from Glenn Beck, the founder and CEO of the Tides Foundation (a frequent Beck target) has written advertisers asking them to remove their sponsorship of the Fox News program or risk having "blood on their hands." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/15/tides-foundation-ceo-glenn-beck_n_764470.html
Sourcewatch writes: Founded in 1976, the Tides Foundation has provided more than $300 million in funding for what it calls "positive social change ... We define 'progressive' as creating a positive impact on people's lives in ways that honor and promote human rights, justice, and a healthy, sustainable environment."  [In my estimation, encouraging citizens to live from cradle to grave with government's largess is actually a way to prevent their ascendancy in life, and to create forever-Democrat votes.]
Funders of the Tides Foundation have included the Pew Charitable Trusts. Recipients of Tides Foundation grants have included Greenpeace, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Environmental Media Services, and the Environmental Working Group, National Public Radio,
The Tides Foundation also sponsors the Tides Center, which provides training and other startup assistance to activist groups.

[Want proof that many in the Bush Administration repeatedly warned about the dire consequences of  Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's impending failure?  Want proof that they spoke about it and attempted to legislated the overseeing of those entities?  Want proof that Barney Frank and Chuck Schumer declared both institutions to be beneficial and sound?  Go no further than this 4 minute uTube video for the story]:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMnSp4qEXNM&NR=1;  [This puts to rest the diatribe from Democrats that it is all Bush's fault....]

A Book Review By DICK MORRIS of The New Road to Serfdom: A Letter of Warning to America by Daniel Hannan:  From the clutches of European Socialism comes the warning cry of Dan Hannan, a Conservative member of the European Parliament from Britain.  Hannan, who achieved celebrity in the United States for his pithy denunciations of statism, celebrates what is magnificent in the American example and warns us against letting it be subsumed by a growing government and Obama-esque socialism.
He underscores how socialism aims not just to change our economy, but to change us.  It seeks to make us into a timid, pessimistic, frightened, dependent people only to eager to sign away their ambition and freedom in return for three square meals a day and a roof over our heads.  He warns that socialism conditions us to be guilty and to rein in all that makes us, in the words of Abraham Lincoln, "the last best hope of Earth."
Next week, we go to the polls to determine if Hannan's fears are justified.
But Hannan does a lot more.  He reminds us how unique America is.  He describes how our optimism, hard work, thrift, ambition, flexibility, and adaptability is without parallel in the world.  He itemizes our exceptionalism and warns against the leveling impulse of those who, like our President, neither perceive it nor want to preserve it. http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=2524324467828580210

A George Soros-funded organization, aided by Texas U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat, apparently is trying to chase volunteer observers from precinct polling locations across Harris County, Texas, after the watchers found election judges and clerks allegedly voting for citizens who were undecided.
“Only a week into early voting, volunteer poll-watchers also are being verbally and physically harassed by people loitering at the polls with no intention to vote at the time, including a man identified as a reverend and Houston Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, who was seen inside the polling location electioneering and threatening to turn a poll-watcher’s name to the Department of Justice for voter intimidation,” said a statement from Liberty Institute.
The dispute has its roots in the bitter fight over elections that has developed in 2010, as Democrats both nationally and locally are feeling the sting of abandonment by voters who are enraged by the general takeover of society being pursued by President Obama.
WND reported just days ago when the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed it would investigate Democrat complaints of “intimidation” by “white middle class” poll observers in minority precincts in Harris County. They were accused of “hovering” around voters. http://www.exposeobama.com/2010/10/26/soros-group-launches-attack-on-poll-watchers/?utm_source=Expose+Obama&utm_campaign=a48e9033be-EO_10_26_201010_26_2010&utm_medium=email

NEW YORK , N.Y. - October 25, 2010 - President Obama is spending the next week crisscrossing the country in support of Democratic candidates before this year's midterm elections. While the president may do a great job of energizing the base, he may not be able to convert any Independents who have yet to decide for whom they will vote. Currently, two-thirds of Americans (67%) have a negative opinion of the job President Obama is doing while just over one-third (37%) have a positive opinion. This continues the president's downward trend and he is now at the lowest job approval rating of his presidency.
These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 3,084 adults surveyed online between October 11 and 18, 2010 by Harris Interactive.
It's perhaps not surprising that nine in ten Republicans (90%) and Conservatives (89%) give the job the president is doing negative ratings. What may be surprising is that one-third of Democrats (34%) and Liberals (33%) also give him negative ratings, as do seven in ten Independents (70%) and six in ten Moderates (60%).

No need to worry about skyrocketing gas prices... So many of us are without jobs that we've nowhere much to drive!
ReplyDeleteToo much, too much stuff to digest...The Tides Foundation ? Where did they come from ? And, Soros is still out there, too...not good, not good at all, but thanks for exposing these socialist advocates.
